It was maybe 2 miles from Auschwitz to Birkenau. In Auschwitz there were around 20,000 prisoners and 5 times as many in Birkenau. </pre>]]></description>

Prisoners would have to obey soldiers at all times to avoid getting shot. Also, for some people seeing their spouses would give them strength. </pre>]]></description>
