He went into banking with his dad and moved to New York to join the banking house,&nbsp; over the years Morgan had partnered with many people. Morgan reorganized business structures and management in order to return them to profitability; His reputation as a banker and financier also helped bring interest from investors to the businesses that he took over. He built the steel company which he sold to J.P. He was shaped by his con-man father and religious mother, at age 16 he became a bookkeeper and bought out Maurice B. Clark. In 1870 he partnered with his brother when he founded the Standard Oil Company, Inc. He had an enormous influence on the railroad industry, which transported his oil around the country. His company dominated the oil industry and was the first great business trust in the United States. He was a capitalist who helped build the Central pacific railroad, When the gold rush cam his family moved but he soon gave that up and opened a grocery business in Placerville and Sacramento. Feeder lines were soon added throughout California.
