The most important symbol in chapter 7 is the lamb because in Chapter 7 Amir said, "He moved his head slightly and I caught a glimpse of his face.. saw the resignation in it. It was the look of a lamb" (Hosseini, 64) A lamb represents purity and innocence which is something that Hassan lost part of due to Assef.

I think the most salient symbol in chapter 7 was the lamb. The lamb's blank stare when he was killed reminded Amir of Hassan's face when he was walking out of the alley after getting raped. This also showed that there was nothing Amir could do to help Hassan because once something is killed, there is nothing you can do to bring them back to life. Absurdly, I imagine the animal understands. I imagine the animal sees that its imminent demise is for a higher purpose. This is the look...

The most salient statement in chapter 7 was the Alley. What happened in the Alley molded him to feel how he felt after Hassan has been raped. He was guilty for letting it happen and knowing he has knew about it he didnt decide to tell anyone he just seeked for forgiveness. "I heard the voices again, louder this time, coming from one of the Alleys". "

I think the most salient symbol in Chapter Seven is the KITE, as it represents a certain identity of Hassan and the beginning of the collapse their relationship as Hassan was known as a victorious kite runner according to Amir in Chapter Seven, and how the kite is seen to be more important to tell to Baba instead of Confessing about Hassan's situation. The kite is also seen as a symbol of regret and pure hate as Assef was confronting Hassan, " "I'm letting you keep the kite, Hazara. I'll let you keep it so it will always remind you of what I'm about to do." Which will carry with Hassan AND Amir throughout the story, as Amir never associated with kites again and losing his dear friend, Hassan.

The impact that the lamb has on Amir is that it makes him realize reality for what it is and the sacrifices that he has to make in order to benefit himself. "Nothing was free in this world. Maybe Hassan was the price I had to pay, the lamb I had to slay, to win Baba." (Hosseini 65)
