Ada Lovelace.

Ada was born on the10th of December 1815 in London to Isabelle Milbanke Byron and Lord George Gordon Byron. Her mother, Isabelle, had mathematical training, this was very unusual

For a woman to be educated in this way . Lord Byron called Isabelle his “princess of parallelograms” Her mother didn't want Ada to be crazy or mad like her father and do poetry so she taught Ada maths and writing. Her mother forced her to lie down straight for extensive periods because she believed it would help her self control.

Adas full name was Augusta Ada Byron. In her youth she was interested in flying , maths and writing. At an early stage she showed a talent for language and numbers and was taught from William Frend,a social reformer,William King, the family doctor and Mary Somerville , a scottish astronomer and mathematician, Somerville was the first woman admitted into the Royal Astronomical Society.Ada learned advanced maths with University of London professor Augustus de Morgan.

At 17 Ada met a man called Charles Babbage who was the inventor of the computer. Both of them became friends.Ada was really interested in the new invention Charles made.Charles became Ada`s mentor.the first computer was called the difference engine.Ada was later asked to translate something using the difference engine, the article was by a man called Luigi Federico Menaberea for a swiss journal but ada added her own ideas and thoughts her notes ended being three times longer than the original article. Her work was published in 1843,in a english science journal.Ada only used her initials A.A.L for Augusta Ada Lovelacein the publication.

Ada married a man called William King Noel and her name changed to Augusta Ada King Noel.

They both shared an interest in horses. They had three children called Byron King Noel who prefered to be called Viscount Ockham,Anne Blunt and Ralph King Milbanke. Her and William hung out with Charles Dickens and Michael Faraday.William supported Ada with her academic things.

Ada health suffered, however, after a bout of cholera in 1837.She had lingering problems with asthma and her digestive system. Doctors gave her painkillers, such as laudanum and opium,

And her personality began to change. She reportedly experienced mood swings and hallucinations. She sadly died on the 27th of November 1852 of uterine cancer.

Ada Lovelace's contributions to computer science were not discovered until the 1950.

Her notes were reintroduced by B.V Bowden who republished them in Faster than a thought: A symposium on digital computing machines in 1953.Since then Ada has had may posthumous honors for her work. In 1980 the U.S department of Defence named a newly developed computer language “Ada” after Lovelace.
