This is considered the first battle of the revolutionary war, a militia of revolutionaries and the British army fought here, the militia chased the British to Concord, eventually resulting in an american victory.

This was the first battle of the revolution, it led to harsher British retaliations, but also inspired the colonists to fight back.

Second Continental Congress May 10 1775

This was a meeting between delegates of all colonies, this established the continental army and placed George Washington as the leader. They also made an appeal to Britain, called the Olive Branch Petition meant to keep the peace, this did not work.

This was the place where the first ideas of independence came up in the government, and was one of the last attempts to make peace with the British, they also decided to write the Declaration of Independence.

Battle of Bunker Hill June 10 1775

Bunker hill was an invasion of Boston by the British in order to stop the revolution from progressing even further. Ships with roughly 3000 British soldiers sailed over to Boston and quickly took the city, at the cost of 1000 casualties compared to the 450 on the US side.

This event showed that the British were willing to use force to stop the revolution and was the first major engagement of the war, and allowed the colonists to gain some confidence.

Declaration of independence July 4 1776

The Declaration of independence was what finally made America a country, it was signed by representatives from all 13 colonies. The British at first dismissed their declaration but eventually sent more troops to squash the rebelion.

This was the beginning of the true independence movement of the colonies and with all the states coming together for a decision showed that they all agreed for independence.

Washington Crosses the Delaware. Dec 25 1776

George Washington, in the winter of 1776 decided to attack the British allied Hessian mercenaries at their camp at Trenton, on Christmas, they successfully surprised the Hessians, capturing 900 of them and gaining a lot of weapons and ammo.

This was one of the first major victories for the US in the war, and it showed that Washington was capable of leading the army to victory.

Battle of Saratoga Sep 19 1777

The British had prepared an attack on New York & the Hudson River Valley using forces from Canada and British controlled areas, they were stopped by American forces that were dug in across the Hudson. The British tried to push forward but were stopped.

This was a turning point in the war, being one of the biggest victories from the US and began the US winning streak, France also decided to help them afterwards.

Winter at Valley Forge Dec 19 1777

During the winter of 1777 George Washington decided to winter his army at Valley forge just 20 miles from British Pennsylvania, they endured harsh conditions such as lack of food, disease, and some mutinies, however they also learned to fight.

This was a show that the Americans cold survive tough things, It also brought the leaders closer to the soldiers as they quartered with them, ultimately strengthening the army.

France was still mad about losing it's territories to the British in the French and Indian war, and after Benjamin Franklin visited France in hopes of gaining their support, they eventually decided to join forces with them, sending ships and troops to America.

This was the first foreign aid that America had received, France was also one of the strongest countries in the world meaning the war would end quicker.

Battle of Yorktown Sep 28 - Oct 19 1881

This was the final battle of the revolution, the British had fortified their position at Yorktown Virginia, American and French forces soon came down on them in one of the biggest battles of the war. eventually the rebels managed to push through British defenses and attack them head on, the battle resulted in a British loss.

This was the last battle of the revolution and finally ended 6 years of conflict, and gave the Americas independence.

Treaty of Paris Sep 3 1783

The Treaty of Paris formally drew the revolution to an end, it granted independence of the americas and booted Britain out of the region.
