- International - written anywhere, by any citizen of any country. (Possible focus on minority groups)

- Book should have a good meaning behind it: something that can teach the children morals and values (at least)

- Organisation & language: easy to understand 

- Aesthetic: enough contrast between words and visuals, white space should be used appropriately to create impact 

- Logical content, if about illogical content, has to be believable; realistic to a certain sense
- Should be appropriate to author's target audience, or at least relevant to children 0-8

Subjective: 

- Engagement: should be high enough, whether it be through the text or the pictures, as long as the book is able to form the connection with the reader 

Accurate facts

Good, engaging and interesting style of writing

Encourage thinking and more reading

Good organisation of plot: flow in the story

Must be creative, allow children to imagine
