Ancient Greek scientist who made many inventions and discoveries. They tell a story about a ruler who asked Archimedes to discover whether a crown was made entirely of gold. As he could not melt it down to know its volume, to calculate its density and to see if it was gold, he had to invent another system. According to the story, he discovered a way to measure the volume of irregular objects by immersing them in water while he was in the bathtub and he saw how the water level rose as it entered. The story says that he then ran out screaming, 'Eureka!' Although he didn't really discover it that way, but using another system based on his findings and buoyancy.
