EOP academic counselors and student staff work alongside amazing students who, despite their unique responsibilities and challenges, transform their lives through academic achievement and personal growth. The Food Pantry is a food program that is designed by students to meet the short-term, immediate food needs of UC Berkeley students. This includes undergraduate and graduate, undocumented, international, visiting scholars, student researchers, and postdocs.

Our assistance form is prioritized for students with complex and urgent needs. Our goal is to provide short term relief to stabilize students experiencing urgent basic needs insecurities. While support is limited and may not meet every ongoing need, we aim to reduce immediate barriers and connect students with our internal emergency relief programs.

The Berkeley Food Pantry is a non-profit organization providing emergency groceries to Berkeley and Albany residents in need. Through the combined efforts of three paid part-time staff, over 100 dedicated volunteers, the Alameda County Community Food Bank, community members, local businesses, and the USDA Emergency Food Assistance Program, we provide emergency groceries for 3 days or 9 meals to over 2,000 Berkeley and Albany residents monthly. We are proud that we provide over 70,000 pounds of nutritious food each month to Berkeley and Albany households in crisis. The Berkeley Food Pantry operates under the fiscal sponsorship of the Berkeley Friends Church, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization (EIN 94-6003752) and is governed by the church's Food Pantry Oversight Committee. Your donations are tax-deductible.

They do not require any insurance or paperwork. UHS counselors have expertise and competency in working with underrepresented students on campus. All counselors work with students who are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns.

We provide:

• One-on-one tutoring: Learners are matched with tutors for weekly tutoring sessions. Free instructional materials are provided. 

• Drop-in sessions:  Open sessions are available for learners on our wait list and for those who want additional assistance. 

• Computer Lab: Learners access tools in our computer lab at West Branch or at Central, with tutor support.

• Small group tutoring: Learners support each other on focused projects.

• Family literacy: Volunteers visit local organizations, providing story visits and free books to children. We provide special programs for children and caregivers to strengthen literacy skills.

• Special programs: Learners strengthen literacy skills while visiting museums, cooking, and learning about the environment.
