We just completed Sixth Grade Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop. It is quite an accomplishment! It’s important to not only celebrate the successful completion of your work but also reflect on your growth throughout the process. Think about your sixth grade journey as a reader and a writer. What are you most proud of? What will you continue to work on to improve in the future? What is your biggest
“take away” or “ah-ha” moment from this year?

This year we did many different thing to work towards our learning in both reading, and writing. What I am most proud of in these subjects is how I kept persevering to get 3s and 4s in the end of the year, after I had gotten 2s and 1s on most of my test in the beginning of the year. I am also proud of how my writing stamina increased to almost match my reading stamina.

There are many thing I learned this year and continue to learn. One thing that I will continue to work on will be how I lead into and out of quotes. I will also work on not letting my insight in on writing pieces where it is not necessary or when my opinion is not wanted. I also will continue to work on my writing and how I execute it.

There where many take aways or ah-ha moments this year. The one I think I will take with me to middle school is how I can work on thing for a long time span but I start to lose focus at a certain point. I will take this and learn how to make my attention span even better and then my stamina will increase in both reading and writing. I also will leave with and continue knowing that I have a serious reading problem.

The thing that I am most proud of is the writing assessments because of how well I did my introduction they have gotten a lot better since the start of the year. The strategy I used for reading is making notes to get facts

The thing I need to work on in writing is transition leading in and out of paragraphs. For reading I need to improve on understanding the text better

The biggest Lesson I learned was the lead/ introduction it helped me be good as writer because the introduction is what tells the reader what going on. the lesson I learned for reading is I learned that in reading assessments I would not annotate the text now I am.

I am proud of many things in my writing workshop time this year, from becoming very good at spelling and leading in and out of quotations to going to the bathroom at the right time. This year I learned a lot in writing workshop. For example, leading in and out of quotations. I always thought I was doing quotations correct in past grades but, this year I was thought that my way of doing them wasn’t right and now I know how to lead in and out of quotations because I was taught the right way and I fixed my work. This year I even learned how to use teamwork in your own presentation because we did lots of writing drafts and presentations that were by ourselves but we would always be able to peer edit which made the presentations even better.

I do not have everything down in writing so I will keep on improving. One thing I will keep on improving on is spelling because I think spelling is a good skill of mine and I would like to keep getting better. One other thing I will need to keep on working on is writing better and longer paragraphs because it is very useful in life to be precise and useful.

I did not have many, “Ah ha,” moments but I did have a couple. For example I had an ah ha moment at the beginning of the year when I learned that I was not leading in and out of my quotations correct, which is very important that I learned that because then I would never learn it anywhere else.

The thing i’m most proud of on my sixth grade journey is my understanding and reading and my spelling. I have progressed to a z+ and i’m really proud of that because I know I can read a lot of books with ease and I have very good understanding of them. I enjoy a lot of the adult books to. I also am very proud of my spelling because I was in the advanced group and I got a lot of 4’s on those tests, sometimes getting 3’s. Spelling is really fun so if I come across a word I don’t know or haven’t seen before I can spell it out or I might understand what it means a bit.

What I will continue to work on or improve in the future is my conventions, specifically my quotes. Every year I learn something new you have to do to lead in or out of a quote. It’s a bit confusing for me because there is so many steps. I’m glad that this year I learned that you have to use the authors last name or page number and the lead in but I still need to improve on actually using them. I also want to improve for reading is my time or my stamina. I don't read as fast as others.

My biggest take-away from my reading journey in sixth-grade is how to correctly write essays and assessments. I have written essays and assessments before but not as advanced as these. This year I learned the structure and the quotes, and everything that has to do with them. This is why the blogs have helped me so much as a reader and writer.

What I am most proud of for the 6th grade in reading and writing workshop is, being able to keep getting 3.5 and 4’s in reading and improving my strength in writing. For reading I have never been the best at taking test for reading but I managed to keep a great grade when you study and pay more attention in class. I am proud because I grew in reading as a reader and being able to explain my reading clearly. For writing I have never been the strongest or best writer but I grew throughout the year to making my grade better than usual. This is something I am most proud of because I will never forget how long I took on are first writing assessment and the day I got is back; I was super nervous. But I ended up getting three 4’ and two 3’s. I have never done so well in writing so I feel like I grew and when I tried my best I can do great things. For reading and writing I’m so proud of myself for my reading grades and being able to grow as a writer.

Something I will continue to work on in the future is being able to quote correctly and writing better central ideas in reading. For my quotes I did pretty well in them this year and they are just something I would like to remember and strive to do the lead in and lead out for the future. But for central ideas it is not the same, I did pretty well in writing for central ideas but not for reading so much. For example they are not something I did very good on in reading or writing so even when I am in middle school or high school they are something I would like to get down. I will continue to work on and improve doing quotes and central idea in the future.

Being in reader and writing workshop the biggest take away for me is know I now if I want to do well I can do it. Doing the year for reading and writing I have had some struggles when I really wanted to achieve getting goods grades and being able to improve my scores. But when I was about to give up these class made me want to keep working. During this process I learned to ask questions to be prepared for the test or even ask when we are doing a writing. Doing these things I was able to learn and grow in these standers. My biggest take away from this year in reading and writing workshop is if I really want to do good I can. Not to be afraid of asking questions or failing the first time and haft to keep trying. This is a strength I learned this year for these two class that I will keep with me forever.

Throughout sixth grade we have learned a lot about different literary styles. There are many things I am proud of as a writer. But there are also things I could improve on. Some of the things I am proud of is learning how to do an in text citation. I did not know until sixth grade how to do that. Another thing I am proud of is learning how to not only lead in, but lead out of quotes. This has made my wring a lot stronger as a whole. The second to last thing I am proud of especially is not getting below a 3 on any of my Titanic presentation scores (thank-you’s go out to Ava Belle and Lauren for peer editing my piece) . The final thing I am proud of is building up my stamina in reading and becoming a better reader.

Although I am proud of many things, there are some things I need to work on. Some things I could improve on is having more of a wide range of vocabulary. What I mean by this is using more high level vocabulary throughout my writing. Words other than said in dialogue, and words other than but for transitions. Another thing I could work on is having different types of punctuation in my pieces. For example, using more semicolons and less commas and periods. The second to last thing I could improve on is not saying my opinion in a non-opinion-based essay. Words other than “I” in a non-opinion-based essay. Although, there are other things, there are just the main points. The final thing I could work on is focusing more on what i’m reading and reading more at home.

I could go on and on about what I will take away from this year, but to save some time I will only name a few. Some things I will take away form this year is the fact that I can now do so much. I know how to lead in and out of quotes, I know how to do in-text citations, I know how to make my presentations better by focusing not just on the text-features, but the piece itself. And most importantly I know how to become a better literacy writer and a better reader.

This year has been an amazing year! What I’m most proud of with myself this year as a writer is, my grades. My grades have been great. I have been keeping it at a steady rate and I have been working hard with my grades. I try my best on all assessments/writing pieces. When I try my best it comes out with amazing grades that I can be really proud off. The thing I’m most proud of as a reader, is my improvement. I am very proud of my progress throughout the year because at the begging of the year I was getting pretty decent grades. Than I worked hard and was really trying to work on the things that I was struggling with before the test. I had improve not only with my grades throughout the year but with the content of my work/assessments. I improved of taking my time and really reading through the directions or the text that was provided. One more thing i'm overall proud of as a reader or writer are my note because, in the begging of the year I didn’t really think that I would need the notes so I didn’t spend as much time. Now I realize that notes can help a lot and I work really hard on my notes so I can read them and use my notes to help me learn and give me an reminder.

Next, I do have lots of things that I am very proud of. I also have some things that I can improve on in the future. As a writer I would like to work on my conventions/punctuation. In my writing pieces those are the things I tend to push off until the very end (which means sometimes I don’t do it). I would like to improve and work really hard with looking the piece over or have a fresh pair of eyes look over it to help me. As a reader I would like to improve on if I don’t understand something we are learning I will ask. This will helping me so much instead of freaking out on the test because I do not know how to do it or how im confused. Finally I overall I would like to work on not procrastinating. This I especially need to work on because, I will wait last minute to finish a writing piece or wait to study for a reading test, which is not the best idea because, than my writing content will not be the greatest and I’m not doing my best. Or studying I would push it off until I forget to study!

Lastly, In this goes for writing, if I didn’t do so good on a category I thought I did amazing on I would see what I did wrong and fix it next time. It was my ah-ha moment not to get to confident in one thing and also to fix it later that I could always redo it. My ah-ha moment as a reader is when I had to retake a test. This was an ah-ha moment because I realized that I wasn’t really getting it so it helped me rethink the way I was thinking and help me do better on the test. It was also my ah-ha moment because, it made me realize that I am struggling with doing this and that I needed help with it and after I realized that I did awesome on the test!

Throughout the year I have accomplished many things. I am proud as both a reader and a writer, the most I am proud about is how I have advanced in my blogs in both writing and reading. I have gotten a-lot better at my conclusions, introductions, organisations, and spelling in my presentations. Which is a-lot of very good improvement. In the beginning of the year I would get 2s, and 2.5s, but now I am getting 3s,3.5s, and 4s which are all very good grades. In the future I hope to raise all those grades up to 4s, because I know I can. I also am proud of when I got all of my transitions in very smoothly for writing in my blogs.

In the future I will continue to work and improve on my quotes so I can really give the reader a good main idea about the text I wrote. I will also continue to work on my transitions, craft, and conventions which all just need a little bit of tweaking to get better grades. By practicing all those things going on with my writing and reading I know I can raise all of those grades up to 3s, and 4s, so I can get in to a great college, such as Madison. I will also pra ctice my text evidence so that when people read my piecied of writting and reading they understand.

My biggest take away moment/aha moment is when I advanced my 2s and 2.5s to 3s and 4s in both subjects making them very good grades. I also had a very big takeaway moment when I got my introduction and conclusion in my blogs nailed, they where both 4s. An aha moment would be when I realized my transitions where not really going in smoothly, they were rough, but then I problem solved and turned my transitions very smooth so that it was easy to read my writing/reading pieces.

But the piece that i'm most proud of is the Mr.peabody's apples by Madonna theme based essay. This essay is the one that i'm most proud of I got 2.5 overall I worked hard on this assessment. I tried to make sure all my words when spelled correctly so I got a 3 for spelling. Overall I feel like I did a very good job on this essay.

One thing that I will continue to work on next year the the years after that is my punctuation. I very rarely get good grades on punctuation. I'm not the best at it so I'm gonna keep practising use commas and apostrophes to make my writing and reading not only sound better but look better.

The biggest “ah ha” moment I’ve had is when I learned how to correctly cite information and when I learned to write where I got my information .

What I am most proud of this year for readers and writers workshop is growing as a reader and a writer. I have learned so much about reading and writing. I am proud of how many presentations, papers, and essay's we have written. I am proud of this because by learning all this stuff I am able to good on my assessments and get good grades. I am also proud of getting good grades in both reading and writing, most of the time I got pretty good grades and I never had to retake an assignment because of getting a bad grade.

What I will continue to work on in the future is checking over the rubric before I turn in an assessment, because if I really checked over the rubric and made sure I had all the components I would be able to raise my grade even higher. I also will continue to work on my conventions. I also will continue to work on paying really close attention to detail when writing an essay or paper. I will continue to put a lot of effort into my papers so I can really show the details.

My biggest take away/ aha moment is when I started to get good grades like 3, 3.5, and 4’s.

I am the most proud of how in the beginning and the middle of the year when my grades were low and by the end of the school year I have raised up my grades to get 3’s and or 3.5’s instead of 1.5’s, 2’s, and 2.5’s. I am also proud of my informational writing piece because I had straight 3’s except the spelling and conventions which I have to improve and continue to work on. part where I got 2’s, so in all I got 5 3’s and 2 2’s. In reading I am most proud of how hard I worked on reading at home with my parents and how I started off the beginning of the year as a level T and by the end of the school year I can read level X, Y, and higher books.

What I will improve on for the future is knowing when are where to capitalize words and not to overuse commas and quotations that could cause me to get a lower grade. I will improve on for reading is to jot down an important part and remember that part to help me on reading assessments and when I need to retell the story or state what happens in the book.

My take away from this year is that I started off with lower grades and I focused more and when I did that I knew what I was doing in projects and assignments which raises my grades. For example in the beginning of the school year with my deep study of character assessment I got a 1.5 and a 1 but comparing to my Informational Writing project where I got 5 3’s and 2 2’s is a big improvement. My take away from reading is that If I read at home and practice and read on a normal basis and to tell what the main idea of the story is, that I will get a way better understanding of the book or the story that is being told.

This year I am very proud of my work in Readers and Writers Workshop. In Writers Workshop I am extremely proud of my essays and presentations that I made. I worked very hard on them to score 3.5s and on my DWA a 4! I am very proud that I pushed myself to work as hard as I can in writing and I pushed myself to the best of my ability. In Readers Workshop I am very proud that I was able to get not 1, but 2 4s on my Analyzing Characters as Vehicles for Themes piece. I was able to support my ideas with tons of evidence and explain the evidence in depth! I was also proud of how well my reading ability became, at the beginning of the year, I was reading Michael Vey books, but now I am reading 500 page books in about 2.5 weeks!I had many accomplishments as a reader and writer in 6th grade.

Though I had many accomplishments, I also had some struggles that I still need to work on. In Writers Workshop I need to make sure that I use conventions correctly and lead in and lead out. I will possibly over the summer go back into old resources and refresh my mind on what I need to do to be more successful to boost myself up to the Proficient level. In Readers workshop I need to make sure that I slow down when reading aloud. I tend to jumble up letters or words. If I slow down my fluency and comprehension level will drastically improve. I have had many struggles but I can learn and improve them.

I have had many lessons learned or take-aways from Language Arts as a 6th grader. For writing I learned about the importance of a good lead and ending. It helps form the rest of your piece. I also learned from writing that thesis statements are very if not the most important thing in your paper, it largely impacts your piece. In reading I learned that you need to take your time on things, whether it be for showing what you’ve learned or for just paging through a book, you need to take your time. I have taken away many things as a reader and writer in 6th grade.

There are many things I am proud of this year in reading and writing workshop. I have achieved many things that I thought I couldn’t do because 6th grade was hard. Some things that I am proud of is getting many 4’s and 3.5’s in my reading assessments. I remember getting a 3.5 on my first assessment this year. I had worked really hard from then to achieve a lot of 4’s as a 6th grader. I will continue to do the great job this year and take that to ASA. Another thing I am proud of is my sentence structure from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. In the beginning of the year I had short and very simple sentences with not a lot of big vocabulary words. Nowadays, I am able to write advanced sentence structures which has achieved me a 4 many times. I have noticed that my vocabulary has grown drastically compared to the beginning of the year. Another thing that I am proud of in reading is how much my reading stamina has grown compared to 5th grade. I could only last about ten minutes without looking around the place. This year I am able to go up to 30 minutes because of some practice and effort. This is something I have been dreaming about for a long time. I am proud that I could always turn my grades around. For example in one of my first tests I had gotten a 3. Then in the next assessment I had achieved a 4.

There are many good things that had happened this year which I am really happy about, but there are still some little things I need to improve on to make it better for next year. One major thing I need to improve on is where to put semicolons. We have had many lessons this year about the semicolons but I still don’t get it. I only have a little idea and need to put time, effort and practice to get a better understanding and can use it more efficiently. One thing that I could improve in reading is my read aloud skills. In every fountas and pinnell testing I always get nervous if I had made a mistake and how many mistakes I have made. I need to be a little more calm and confident when I do read alouds which takes practice and patients for me.

I have had many takeaways this year in reading and in writing workshop. My biggest takeaway from this year is the ability to lead in and out of quotes. I have done it so many times I will never forget it going into the 7th grade at ASA. Another big takeaway from this year is that how many good essays I have written. I have written many essays but not as good and proficient as this year. I never really achieved any 4’s in essays but this year it has gone of the roof. This is something that I will take to the 7th grade and maybe to my job too.

What I am most proud of as a reader and writer is one getting my reading level from a t to a X which means if I keep reading I might be able to get to a Z or a Z+ in a little bit of time for me. And what my best part of writing would be my growth of being a writer and because of that I’m able to understand writing more clearly than when I did before I came to this school. All together this would be my most proud parts of the school from 2017-2018. This has been a great experience for my learning capabilities.

What I will continue to improve on as a reader and writer is putting more quotes in a informational writing piece because at the end of the year we had a presentation and I forgot to put in my quotes to support my pieces of evidence. And so that got me a lower grade than what I was shooting for. And also what I need to improve on is my transitions in a assessment because most of the time I get a 2 or 2.5 on transitions.

My biggest aha moments were when it was the beginning of the year I thought it was going to be easy and so I fooled around a little but then when I had my aha moment I realized it was not that easy I need to pay attention more and be more mature. And also now to put more evidence and analysis such as quotes.

During this year I am most proud of my Teen Activist Blog, because I had three 4's and one 3.5. I had a great writing piece and I am proud of the grades, being a great writer makes me feel good and makes me want to write more and more. Also during this year I am proud of my reading skills I have gone from a V, W, X, to a Y, Z, +Z. I have read 36 books and I just finished my 37th last weekend. I have found very interesting series that I strongly recommend, like the Eragon series or the Warriors series, maybe the Wings of Fire series or the Kane Chronicles series. Fantasy is my favorite but I like nonfiction too.

As a reader and writer I will continue to be a strong reader and write based off of the rubric, I have improved my grades extraordinarily, I still need to work on multiple things and I also need to improve my skill of getting work in on time. During reading I always want to stick to my personal reading plan of reading 120 minutes a week, but sometimes I read that amount once a day when I am supposed to be sleeping.

One of my “Take Away” or “Ah-ha” moments are when I got my grades for my Teen Activist Blog, I realized that when I follow the rubric I get better grade, and when I turn my work in on time I get more time to play infection with my friends at recess. I realized that if I don’t think that much about it I do it quicker when not thinking about, “How Hard It Is.” But instead thinking, “Oh, I Can Do This!”:p

I am also proud of not only myself but Mrs. Reuter because she made me a better reader and writer because her mini lessons helped me learn how I can make my work way better.

I will continue to work on in the future my understanding of central ideas because most of the time I tend to make a thesis instead of a central idea and I think if I were to work on them I would improve of them a lot by practicing and making stories with central ideas, like summaries. I will also work on essays such as DWAS, essays, and way more to make my grade improve and use the rubrik and look at it a lot closer and use it to check my work.

My biggest “A ha!” moment this year is when we learned about text evidence. I thought it was just a word but then I learned that its quotes, and facts, and that made me go “A ha!” And that will always stick in my mind because I always still wonder about text evidence. Also another “A ha!” moment this year is when we read books/read alouds and we learned all about the different characters and how they changed their perspectives and went a different direction in their life.

As a reader, I am most proud of reading more than I am required to do. I am really proud of also finishing a book every 2 weeks. I enjoy reading much more than I did at the beginning of the year. Lastly, I am proud of thinking about what I am reading. Earlier I thought that thinking about my reading was jotting down jots. Now I know that not everything is worth jotting down. As a writer, I am really proud of taking something out of my writing. I now know what I am looking for when I am writing. I used to just throw something down on a piece of paper and not think about it. Now I try to really dig in my topic and really think about it.

I will continue to really work hard at both of these skills. I think in reading, I could work on not just reading the book but also to stop and think about what I am reading. I could maybe stop every 15 pages. If there is not something to stop and think about, then I will go every 20 pages. Also I want to write a written response every time I am done reading a section of the book. I could write about what was confusing and what was hard not to gasp out loud and say WHAT!. In writing I could work on writing personal narratives. I could work on writing about a seed in my life and not a whole watermelon. I could focus on maybe a sad part of my life or maybe a really exciting part of my life. On the first narrative that I wrote in 6th grade was about a really big part of my life. I could have focused on something not so big but still important.

My take away or my ah ha moment in 6th grade reading was when I was reading about Malala Yousafzai. I in the middle of writing a teen activist blog. I had been researching her for a few days I had thought “ I want to be just like her.” I thought that she was so brave. I also wanted to make a difference in the world. So that was my big Ah Ha moment in 6th grade reading. My Ah Ha moment in writing was when I got my first personal narrative back. I had done a watermelon story and not a seed story. I had written about a very important time in my life but it could have been split into 2 different stories. Now I have fixed it by only writing little seed stories.

With me being a reader and writer, there are many things for me to be proud of. Some of the things I am most proud of are all the ways I have grown as a reader and writer and i’m not just saying F&P testing. Although my F&P level did grow from a W to a Z - Z+, so did my speed and accuracy of pronunciation and wording of high level words. I am also proud of the reading tests I have completed all while using my resources given to guide me. Although it doesn’t end there, I also am proud of my accomplishments in writing. I wrote two personal narratives, a big informational presentation, a DWA (District Writing Assessment) and more all while earning good grades throughout. I hope to continue this next year with my teachers I have yet to meet.

Even though I do have many accomplishments to be proud of, I am not the best in the world. I have yet to improve some aspects of my reading and writing. I will continue to read over the summer and continue to try to grow the speed at which I read. I will also try to improve my accuracy and speed of typing and writing. I will try to learn the definitions and correct spelling to new words such as Channel 6 News.

The year of 6th grade was a fun filled learning experience at Horizon Elementary School, and I will be sure to remember to take away from the things that I have learned. I will always remember to try my hardest when writing because even if the whole class doesn't get to see your finest work, you will still have something to remember it by. In reading I will mostly keep in mind that, even if you try your hardest, you might fail, but if you do just try to do it again and never give up.

As I went through the year, I worked on many projects and like others, I had my faults and my good moments. The thing I am most proud of would be my Personal Narrative Blog, this blog meant a lot to me because it told a story about my first basketball game. I am very proud of this paper because it was the first paper in my writing “career” That I got all threes for a grade. This story shows how I have improved over the years and I have learned many skills and tricks to be successful in the future, I reflect on this and look at the things I have done after this paper and see a steady rate of good grades in all of my classes.

As a student I struggled with a few things that kept me back from 3’s and 4’s, one of those things was how I did not always take advantage of all my resources like Rubrics and packets. I reflect on this and look at it’s effect on my grade. Looking at my grades, I will in the future push myself harder to look at my resources to help me get better grades in reading and writing. This pushes me to do better knowing that with these resources I can get the grades that my teachers, parents, and myself, expect me to achieve while in reading and writing.

My biggest take away from this year was that if you follow what your expected to do, you can flourish in reading and writing class. When I listen to the directions I am given from my teachers, I am opened to a workshop of opportunity and ideas to use in my final paper and flourish as a reader or writer, as I follow directions, I notice is makes me feel good and I feel accomplished. I feel as if I just got 3’s and 4’s on a hard math test and I know I am ready to succeed in the future.

There are a lot of things that I was proud of this year, but if I had to choose one for reading and writing, I would definitely choose my informational presentation and my essay for Thank you, ma’am. I’m proud of the informational presentation because of how I was in charge of everything. I got to choose which slide was where, what information was on each slide, and what type of picture would go on which slide. Of course, though, I’m also proud of it for how hard I worked on it and the grades I got on it. I am also proud of my essay for Thank you, ma’am even though it was at the beginning of the year and the grades may be out of date. I’m proud of that essay because it was almost the first essay of the year, and I was really proud of how much I analyzed the text, and how accomplished I felt when it was done.

In the future, I want to focus more on improving my punctuation skills and writing jots when I’m reading. It seems like punctuation has always been the thing I’m told to improve on in tests, so I plan to improve it by reading my sentences out loud or in my head. I also plan on improving my jotting skills. I want to be able to see the text from the author’s perspective, and I want to stop and think to myself, “Would an author purposely put that sentence in to show something to the reader?” Maybe doing this will improve my writing skills too!

During this year, I had a lot of takeaway and aha moments in reading and writing. The most important ones, though, have to be my jot taking aha moment and my writing takeaway. My jot taking aha moments was during the beginning of the year, when I realized that I could think from the author’s perspective to help myself take notes. After that I had much better jots and could get them done much faster. My writing takeaway was similar to the Jot taking aha moment, as I realized that I had to think from the perspective of the reader to see if what I was writing made sense/ was relative to the topic.

I will also work very hard towards ensuring that I get to where I am going on time, and that I do not zone out as much, because then I wind up missing the lesson.

One of the biggest things that happened during the year that I learned from, is when we did the book clubs, I realized that I needed to work on not waiting till the last second t get something done, because I did that during our first book club, and that really made it hard for me to function and keep up with everybody else.

In this sixth grade school year I am most proud of my grades because they have gotten so much better than before. When sixth grade just started I mostly only had 2’s and rarely got a 2.5, but now I have been getting 3’s and 3.5’s and even 4’s! I have learned how to get better at my grades, unlike before I was not getting the best grades while all f my other classmates were. Over the school year I have learned that I need to step up and do my best, now I get good grades and my parents are always proud of me. I have gotten much better at reading and writing than I thought I ever would. Thanks to a wonderful teacher and me doing my best I can keep my up grades better than ever. I am very proud of my grade growth and me finally getting to a level Z, I finally know that I can get 3’s and 3.5’s and be proud of myself for doing that.

In the future I will keep working on my writing skills to get amazing grades and to persevere through the school. I will work on some of my writing skills because sometimes I do get 2’s and 2.5’s and I need to work on them to get me to a better level of writing. Sometimes my grades need work but I know I need to persevere through it. I know I need to persevere through this to get better in the future, and I will always do that to get the best grades that I can. I always will try to get better for the future and to be the best I can be.

My biggest ah-ha moment of this school year is that I learned that I can do anything as long as I put my head into it. This school year has taught me so much that I thought I would never learn how to do in reading and writing. If I always put my head into it I can do it correctly and the right way. That ah-ha moment has taught me so much. With a little help from Mrs. Reuter I can do anything I put my mind to. This year has been the best with Mrs. Reuter in Reading and Writing. I have learned so much and this ah-ha moment I came up with will help me for the future.

I am most proud of reading 30+ books this whole school year. I m proud of that because it means that I am reading over 120 minutes each week and I have read a lot of different types of books. I am also proud of getting to the higher spelling group. I am proud of that because I worked hard to get my selling done and it payed off by getting to the higher spelling group. I am also proud of it because it means that I got at least three 3s.

I will work on writing a lot. I need to get my stamina up and I also want to get my writing better in general. I want to get my writing stamina up so I can write longer and faster. I want to work on that because I need to write more so I can get my work done faster. I also want to work on writing in general because I want to make my writing better and stronger. I also want to work on understanding my books more. I want to work on this because it is very important to me that I can understand books and then put it down on paper.

The ah-ha moment that I had this year was when I got a 3.5 and I realized I was doing it right. That was a ah-ha moment because I finally got something correct and did it good. This was very big for me because I was really happy and realized a lot about writing. I was not as difficult as I thought it is and that it is very fun when you get a good grade and get what you are doing. It was a very big ah-ha moment for me.

In Both reading and writing I am most proud of when I used my resources to help get a higher score and get a better understanding. In writing I am most proud of how much I have improved on my lead and conclusion in the start of the year I remember not having a lot of confidence in myself not really knowing what to expect but now that we are at the end of the year i know to use the resources and read the rubric to understand what my teacher wants from me. In reading I am most proud of my reading stamina and not getting so distracted from other things. Also when taking notes and jotting I know what parts of the story are most important and lead to other things. Lastly I kept us my reading of 120 minutes each week.

In my future I will keep improving on when I add in quotes from other resources like articles and websites. Also something that I want to keep doing is always reading the rubric before and after I take the test. I have found out that when I do that I get a better understanding on what I should do and how to get to the score that I would like. Another that I would like to improve on is better note taking at first when I would note take I would just write down were I found it and what the quote was . Now when I note take I have way better understanding on how to set it up and make it easier when I go back and use the notes.

Over time I have realized that In order to do better on the tests It helps to contribute to the mini-lessons and share answers, when I do that I get a better understanding on what to do and how to do it. If i just sit back and let my classmates to all of that then when we have to do it independently I don’t understand what to do because I zoned out because I was not asking questions and giving answers and listing to the things my teacher said. Also I realized that even if your oly kind of unsure it never hurts to ask. When I asked the question when it was time to do a test or work indepently I knew what to do and was confident on what I was doing.

There are many things I have learned this year and many things I am proud of in reading and writing. For example I am proud of myself for learning how to cite my sources and not plagiarize a lot better than I did as a sixth grader in writing. The thing I am proud of in reading was that I can read better books and understand what the author is trying to tell me. This is good because I can get a better visual on how the author of the book things which will give me a better idea on what I need to do. I think I grew a lot from the beginning of the year to now.

I also may need many improvements in reading and writing. For example For writing I could give more quotes in my texts to prove my theory, this will convince the reader that my statement is true. And I also could make improvements with my reading skills for example I could read faster and this will help give me be more time efficient. This is some of the improvements I will continue to try to complete.

Also a aha moment for me In writing was when I could find good sentences in texts that gave me really good evidence and I could use it really well in my paragraphs. And a a aha moment for me in wreading is that I realized I could understand little details in the text that made a huge difference and point it out. This is some of my aha moments. This is all the improvements I could make and thing I am proud of an daha moments I had in reading and writing.

I am most proud of my growth in Language Arts compared to the beginning of the year. I have become more skilled at writing essays, narratives, and much more. I am also proud of my writing and how detailed it has become by learning from my teacher and how she has helped my classmates and I understand the importance of writing and reading. I believe that my overall grades have progressed if I compared them to my previous years in school. I have become a stronger and faster reader and writer. I am most proud of my District Writing Assessment (DWA). I am proud of this because I received an overall score of a 4 under a time limit . I will continue to grow my skills as a reader and writer. I am excited to see how my skills will be used outside of school. I am going to continue to learn more about the keys to a successful piece. I have had many struggles during the year that I eventually improved. I will practice my skills during school to show myself how I have grown as a reader and writer.

An “aha-moment” that I have had this years is when we received our District Writing Assessments (DWA) back. I earned an overall grade of a 4. I was happy to see that I earned an advanced grade under a time limit.

What I am proud of is I followed my personalized reading plan the whole year. I read 120 minutes a week or more. I tried to do 30 min every night but sometimes I couldn’t. My spelling is getting better and I did pretty good on spelling tests. I went up 3 reading levels and I have 2 levels to go. In writing on almost all of our writing pieces I get overall grades of 3’s and 2.5’s. I have gotten almost all my homework done for writing and reading. This year as a writer and reader was very fun.

Since I have followed my personalized reading plan the whole year I want to carry that into next year and fallow it then to.

Somethings that I am most proud of is that I had some struggles on some tests but then sometimes had an opportunity to change that score to get a better one and I ended up fixing my mistake and getting a better score. I am also proud of the growth that I made as the school year kept flying through. I am very proud of the things that I was able to accomplish this year as a sixth grader. One other thing is that all the things I learned paid of by the score that I got on my test that sometimes I felt good because I tried really hard to accomplish some of my goals as a reader and writer.

Something that I am gonna continue to work on to improve my future is to keep making goals and asking more questions to help me be a better writer and as a writer make sure that my strategies stick with me, and not only just for writing but for reading to keep using the things I know to help me get through things that I find very hard to do. As a reader and writer I have felt myself growing to the best of my abilities and one thing that I did this school year was grow and then on the second recent test that I took I had to retake but that was a good thing because then when I retook it I got a better score on my retake and I was glad I retook it and try my best, and that was for reading. But things I have done in writing I have also been continuing to work on is to look a the rubrics more careful and reading things over again if I don’t get something that is a bit tricky for me.

My biggest take away for me is that when I do informational writing that I should make sure that I have a thesis statement when writing, and now I have realized that but not just that but now I have also realized that when I am using resources that I am one that I am giving credit to the author of that resource and maybe sometimes run it through plagiarisma and grammarly to make sure everything is good to go and I have right grammer and so that I get a pretty decent score on my tests that I take, because grammar can be a big thing for people when they struggle.

When I reflect back on my sixth grade year, I think of what I’m proud of in both reading and writing. In reading, I am proud of getting my F and P level up from a Y to a Z. I am proud that I accomplished this because it was one of my goals to get my reading level up. In writing, I am proud of my latest test when I got a bunch of 3s and 3.5s, some 4s, and one 2. I am proud of these scores because I wanted to get a good score for the last test of the year.

When I reflect back on my year as a sixth grader, I also think of the things that I could work on. In reading, I think that I could work on getting some more 3s. I think I could work on getting more 3s because it would help me push myself to, eventually, get more 3.5s and 4s, even if I get some 4s and 3.5 every on once and a while. In writing, I think I could work on is to study spelling more. I want to do this because even though I get good grades in spelling, sometimes I get definitions wrong or spell words incorrectly and I think that sometimes, that is related to not studying enough.

Finally, when I look back on my sixth grade year, I think about my aha moments or take aways from my experiences. In reading, one of my aha moments was when I found other books that could help me get my reading level up. Finding the other books also helped me fall in love w/ some of those books. In writing, my aha moment was when I started getting 2.5s and 2s, I realized I needed to push myself, so little by little, I pushed myself further which lead me to have the final test have a good score. I knew I had to push myself because if I hadn’t, I’d be getting 1s all across the board.

I am proud of many things in readers and writers workshop. In readers workshop I am most proud of how I worked very hard to get my grades to become a 4, how I kept doing 120 minutes of reading each week, and how I have improved my reading stamina to where I can read without taking breaks every minute. In writers workshop I am most proud of my Titanic presentation because I went home every single night and worked on it to make sure I could get it to be the best I could, how I learned how to use words to really paint a picture for a reader, and I am proud of how much I am improved on how long I could type for.

I know a lot of stuff I can work on for readers and writers workshop. For readers workshop I need to work on being able to read even longer because I still have to take breaks otherwise I get to distracted, I need to learn how to take risks with words to expand my horizons, and I need to learn how to lead in and out of quotes better.. For writers workshop I need to improve on my punctuation and how I can use more punctuation than just commas, I need to work on writing my central ideas because I tend to confuse those with main ideas or themes, and I will work on my transitions because I tend to use the same ones over and over again.

I have a lot of takeaways from this year for readers and writers workshop. For reader’s workshop my biggest takeaway is that when I really push my limits I find that the next time I try to push my limits its easier, another takeaway is that I now know how to lead in an out of quotes even though that skill still needs some improvements, and I had a takeaway that when I read I am not able to take a characters dialogue and find the meaning for the character saying it. For writers workshop my biggest takeaway is that instead of using a ton of words I can use a couple strong words to describe a moment, I also learned how to really set a scene for a character, and I also how important it is to describe something instead of just stating that fact or moments.

During my journey as a sixth grader in reading, I am definitely most proud of getting to level Z in fountas and pinnell. I always wanted to get to that point and I really enjoyed the feeling of not having to think about the level that I was at in reading. In writing I really enjoyed having that feeling hat that assessment was better and stronger than the one that was before it. I really enjoyed that feeling and I really liked that I had that feeling every time.

As my journey continued I struggled to remember to revise the rubric while taking the assessment.

I really want to do that because I definitely want to start to do that more often as I take the assessments. I feel like that would really help my grade out. For reading I definitely want to start using the rubric more often during reading assessments as well as, trying to find better book suggestions for me.

As my writing journey in sixth grade continued I realized that I really work better when I am focused and alone in my own spot and not really distracted by peers. As for reading, my biggest takeaway is actually reading. I never really liked to read and would never really do it, but this year alone I've read 39 chapter books from the beginning of the year until now.

I did pretty good on a lot of the introductions, but I could do better. Another thing I will continue to work on in the future is the theme of a text. Finally, I hope to improve on using my resources better.

One big takeaway I have in writing is how to transition smoothly. One big takeaway I have in reading is that the central idea and theme are two different things.

To start off, I am most proud to say that I have grew academically in reading and writing. In the beginning of the year I felt I had no clue what I was doing. Then Mrs. Reuter kind of retaught reading skills. In reading I think I grew because I followed Mrs. Reuter directions and using Mrs. Reuter’s advice and using the rubrics help a lot.

They helped me on tests and retakes. In writing, I think had good grades in the beginning of the year but I was forgetting some things. So when I learned what I needed my grades went up.

I will try to keep reading and understand so I can learn more about my reading skills and I know what I need to learn in the future. As I am reading any article, I always want to understand what I am reading. When I figure out what skills I need to work on, I will start slow. Then figure out what the lesson is and work on it. Practicing the lesson on different articles also help because it helps you find the skill in different articles. Maybe finding the main ideas and possibly turning it into a thesis.

This past year, I realized that everyone is at a different pace in reading, so it is better to go at your pace so you don’t do worse. Many people finish first and some finish last. When taking a test it shows what you know about the skill. If you rush and don’t take your time, what you know is not accurate and when taking a test, you should use all of your resources, advice, and rubrics that are given.

For sixth grade I had many accomplishments as both a reader and a writer but, I will show you main and my favorite accomplishments for reading and writing. For reading, my favorite accomplishment was the grade I got for the Main Ideas & Supporting Details Summary assessment which we did at the end of the year. I chose this as my favorite because others did not have as much success. That made me super happy because then I was able to do something that most people weren’t. That gave me confidence for when I was writing my presentation on atomic bombs and helped me get through it.

For writing my main accomplishment was the DWA. That is because I had a limited amount of time and I was still able to get a four. I was also gone for a day so that also meant that I had to work with this while others got to work on other things. However, I was able to finish and identify key points that were able to propel me to a four. That helped me gain confidence in myself going into spring break. That helped me have a positive attitude when we came back from spring break and started learning again.

For sixth grade, I had many struggles as a reader and a writer but, I was able to conquer most of them, but there are still some that I need to improve on as a reader and a writer. For reading, I need to work on taking more detailed notes. That is because at times I put notes down that either didn’t make sense or were too universal and wide ranged that they were uneffective. I will improve on this by taking more time when I am taking notes; this will help me have more effective notes and spend less time on notes and more time finding out where the notes best fit and what the notes are trying to convey or teach.

For writing I want to improve on my organization for presentations. I need to work on this because during our last writing project, I was having trouble organizing my slides so the slides were easy to read and were able to convey my message. During our last project, I was having trouble doing that because I was unsure if what I was trying to say would make sense. Luckily, I was able to do that; but I need to make sure and be able to that at a faster rate. I can improve on my organization for presentations by spending more time and looking closer at the rubric. That will help me because the time will give me more opportunities to make sure I am right and the rubric will tell me what I should do.

For sixth grade, I had many “a ha” moments and takeaways from reading and writing but, these two were the most important for reading and writing. For reading my takeaway was that you have to work hard to gain success. I learned that throughout the year when we had tests and challenges. That was crucial throughout the year because sometimes I would not give it my full effort and would be unprepared for the test. That resulted in stress for me and others who noticed my stress. By the end of the year, I gave it my all for all assignments even if it didn’t seem like I needed to. That will help me later in life when things may seem not important or useless but, have a huge effect on my life or career. For writing I learned that I need to trust myself and have confidence. At times, I would take as much time because I didn’t believe that my paper was good enough. This is important because I lost confidence that I needed to trust myself as a writer. But, I would get a good grade. So, I learned that confidence is key to my success as a writer and will help me get through many tough moments during writing. That will result in less challenges and more fun writing moments.

Something that i am most proud of is how far I have come with my introductions and conclusions, and for reading, my summary. In the beginning of the year I wrote not very good introductions, not even having a thesis. I didn’t write the best conclusions either,In reading instead of writing text evidence i wrote down a summary. In the middle if the year I learned how to write a thesis statement and I explained my paragraphs, but I added in too much about my topic witch made it less entertaining, And for conclusions I learned that they tie my paragraphs together, for summaries I learned that i didn’t need to have them in every paragraph . Now at the end of the year i understand the concept to writing a thesis statement and I know the right amount to put in my paragraphs. And now in reading i know when to put summaries in and when not to.

Something I could improve on in the future is my ability to add in quotes. It’s not that i need to add quotes in, the problem is i need to learn to really lead in and lead out of them, also in reading I think I should learn to read more at home. I need help leading in and out of quotes. And for reading i need to keep track at how I am reading.

An a-ha moment i have come across is when we learned how to use text evidence, i didn’t know how to use it until mrs mrs. Reuter thought it to us and it made a lot more sense.

Reading and writing is something I have gotten better this year. For reading, I now focus more on what I am reading which has made me more interested in what I am reading. Also, can clearly explain what I read. For writing, I am now better with punctuation which has helped my text make sense. Also, I now can lead in and out of quotes.

I will continue to improve on reading the rubric more carefully. Reading the rubric helps me compare it to my text. I will also read over my text to fix any mistakes. Some mistakes make my writing not make sense which affects my grade. I will continue to improve on focusing just on the topic and if it is an informational writing I will keep my opinions out of it.

My biggest “ah-ha” moments this year was that reading more helps me with both my reading and writing. In the past years I thought that it would help with reading which is why I didn’t focus so much on it. From past years compared to this year, the amount of books I read have probably doubled in size. Another example is leading in and out of quotes. In the past, I didn’t even know it was that important to lead in and out of quotes.

Something that I am most proud of this year is how much I've grown as a writer. At the beginning of the year, I wasn't that strong of a writer. I really improved this year with lots of hard work and awesome lessons from Mrs. Reuter. I really did well with dialogue punctuation. Probably my proudest accomplishment.

Something that I will continue to work on in the future is my writing stamina. This year, I was never really able to write for long periods of time without getting distracted. I think I will need to concentrate a lot more when I'm writing and making sure that I'm writing quality work while I write.

One think that I will take away from this year is how much of an awesome learning environment it is to learn in Mrs. Reuter's class. I really learned a lot from her and I am gonna take away that she really helped me. I could always go to her for questions if I had them or to get expert advice on how to further improve my writing piece.
