Ron Clark Movie

The movie I chose to watch was the Ron Clark Movie. I really enjoyed watching this movie and I loved how it resembled a school community. Ron Clark was a teacher who taught in North Carolina and decided to move to NYC to help underprivileged kids. He created a set of classroom rules and the one that stood out the most to me was "In this classroom we are a family." I really thought that this brought his class together. Even at first they didn't like him and thought this rule was dumb, after they saw how much Ron cared for them and how fun he made his teaching they started to trust him more. Throughout the whole movie, Ron continuously found ways to bring his class together as one family. I think that this rule is extremely important to have in a classroom because it made his students realize that school is important but also made them realize that they really aren't just peers, that they truly do come together as a community and make a family within the classroom.

The students felt connected with their teacher and all came together as a class to work towards the same goal (getting higher test scores). Because they came together as a community, they all worked hard together and tried as best as they could to perform well during the state tests and achieved the outcome that they wanted. Community was definitely shown in the movie through this rule and I really think that if this was a rule in all classrooms, students would come together more as one and form a tighter and closer community of learning.

Overall, I enjoyed watching this movie and it really taught me what community should look like in a classroom as a future teacher. Something that I will take with me into my future classroom and lessons is that we all are a family.
