Hommer Plessy, who was 7/8ths Cacasian. He agreed to participate in a test about the separated car act.He was doing this with residents from New Orleans who wanted to repeal the act. Plessy was asked to sit where the white people do. The railroad took part in the act because the believe the act "imposed unnecessary cost via the purchase of the additional railroad cars." Plessy was told to get out of the "white only" section ,he refused and was arrested His lawyers told the judge that the act violated his rights of the thirteenth and fourteenth amendment. The court didn't agree and Plessy was convicted.
