Both of my parents grew up by traditional families, which have a way of thinking that states that man and woman should put their part for the family. My parents don't think there's any problem if a man stays in the house doing chores or if a woman goes out to work.

What I learnt from my parents is that everybody needs to work in the house. More than equality, equity. We should help with things we can do. In my case, my parents are not together, but I remember that when I was a child, my dad went to work and I stayed with my mom in the house. She took care of me (because I was an only child) and she sometimes, among with a cleaning lady, took care of the house. But, if my dad was there, he would have helped without a doubt. Both of them had things to do in an equity way. Anyone did more than anyone, and I thing that's great because it's not the case in some houses and that's a mistake some people commit. And that's what I learnt from my parents, not only by hearing what they had to say, but also because I saw this in action.

My parents consider that what's best for a household is that everyone adds their grain of salt in different ways. And that if my mom wanted to work, she could, but she feels like her job right now is at home with her kids. But when my parents were just married and my dad was still studying she worked and supported them for three years, and my dad was never bothered by that, but grateful. Sadly, more often than not, they've seen their own friends acting irrational towards their spouse because they didn't do what they "expected" based on their gender role. They tried to raise us without any of these stigmas, although sometimes they do slip up themselves, they make sure there are is no permanent way to do things.
