My 12-year-old students were asked to do communicative activity. They worked in pairs. They had to complete the tables.Student A had to look at his/her table and ask questions in order to complete it. Student B had to answer them. Later they interchanged.
It was low level of collaboration becuase they didn't work by themselves. Everything was given by the exercise (book) or by the teacher.

It was a project work. After introducing vocabulary related to the city and my 12 year old directions, students were asked to decide what kind of project they would like to prepare. . They decided to make the project "my city" .They divided themselves into groups. They had two weeks to prepare everything . They brought pictures, paper even photos of places in their city. They prepared really nice and interesting projects that they presented in class.
In my opinion, it was a high level of collaboration because it required participation in all aspects of the project (theme, performance and presentation).
