Try to deal with your anger within three minutes to control it. During this time, you should manage your breath by taking deep breathing in and releasing a heavy breathing out. Normally, when you go through the roof, the breath becomes shorter and faster. So, you need to reverse that trend by slowly taking deep breaths by your nose, and exhaling through your mouth for a few minutes. After three minutes of breathing, you will see your emotions become less intense. When you are in control of your initial emotions, you will gradually see things more objectively.

Spending 3 minutes thinking of what you are bound to say instead of a long speech.

There is an old saying: “With age comes wisdom”, which means it is better if you consider our sayings thoroughly before having conversations as you could not put back on your words.

The 3 minute rule was once mentioned in the book “The 3 minute rule - Say Less to Get More” written by the director Brant Pindivic, a director, a Canadian renowned speaker encouraging you to deliver your speech clearly and briefly within 3 minutes or even less. The author had a personal idea that thinking beforehand, saying less and being all ears in listening to others' opinions are ways to receive more.

Communication is more than words of mouth, a person could laugh on the spot or hit the roof when receiving a comment. Therefore, the message delivered should be considered carefully. Provided it allows you to shorten your speech, do not add some more information. The slower pace you give the speech, the more effective it works. And do not have a quarrel if using affable sayings appears as another solution.

Before setting your feet in annoyance, get room for 3 minutes.

Life is not always a walk on a dreamy road. There are times ups and downs arising, which triggers your anger and frustration. When you are in all minds of anger, spontaneous actions are prone to happen, which culminates in nearly uncontrolled consequences. Not to mention annoyance harms your body to a great extent. A research carried out in America pointed out that the energy burnt throughout every 10 minute of being angry is equivalent to a 3000 km run. Another research conducted by Harvard University showed that being irritated hurts your liver, decreases the blood flow in stomach and bowel substantially, which causes the loss of appetite and even stomach ulcer disease.

To keep your anger under control, spend 3 minutes residing it in silence. During this period, you should take a deep and immense breath. Usually, when becoming angry, you have a tendency to take a short and faster breath, thus it is suggested taking a counterclockwise rotation by inhaling deeply and exhaling forcefully.

3 minutes earlier does you good

Arising for the appointment 3 minutes earlier shows your respect to the others, together with making a good impression on them and indicating that your manner is genuine/sincere. Having 3 minute before hand preparations manifests your own responsibility to have time saved instead of a quick fix of failure. Thanks to this “room” left, if there are any issues occurring, handling those is easy as a piece of cake.

Reflecting upon yourself in 3 minutes

It is said that “Cast the first stone”, which has the same meaning as before having a word of judging others, reflecting yourself should be the first step. People tend to expose a weakness of giving critical comments, but not reflect/learn from personal mistakes.
“3 minute rule” encourages reflection upon the exterior elements, the merits and demerits instead of criticism.
