Post 2 - *Explain in 50-100 words the significance of the conversion of Saul of Tarsus

Saul’s conversion occurred when he was on his way to the city of Damascus. When him and his man became close to the city, they were suddenly surrounded by a light, the light was so bright that Saul got knocked of his feet. Saul then saw a vision, he heard the voice of the Lord, after seeing this vision he converted to Christianity, after some time Saul also decided to start using his Roman name, Paul. This was a significant event because some people say that if St Paul didn’t preach to everyone Christianity wouldn’t exist.

Paul did not intend his letters to be wrote to create issues, he wrote them to communicate with distant churches, and to respond to events that he had heard about. The reason his letters have been kept was because they are filled with timeless wisdom, the letters were also the earliest writings of the Christian church. The two main messages that were told through out St Paul’s preaching’s were Jesus’ resurrection, and Christ’s death. There are also many other messages which talk about different values such as peace, hope, joy, and justice.

St Paul had many cultural challenges but the main one was because he was bought up as a strict Jew, before he converted he hated all Christians. So because of this people couldn’t believe that he converted to a Christian. Even if they did believe that he had converted sometimes they would find it hard to believe some of his preaching’s. In one of St Paul’s epistles he talked about how man shouldn’t have to get a circumcision because man and women are equal this made other Christians very mad and they refused to go to any of their preaching’s.
