Summary: In the reading it says the future of Native Americans was in the hands of the war. During the Revolutionary War ,the Native Americans had to pick a side-In which it was often difficult. The British has a place in power of persuading groups to be on their side, many groups of Native Americans were split.

-Something that was shocking was that these tribes considered choosing a different side, they went their own ways in split which took me by surprise.

-The reason why its so important to look at things from another point of view or learning their perspective is because there is so much sides to the story especially, if you are discussing a war-multiple sides and allies, much information to go around-much information that can be mislead. In history it's important to get all sides and how they were impacted because its the evidence of answers to questions we have now. In this case we wouldn't want to forget the impact and contributions that Native Americans had in the Revolutionary War.

Smallpox was very feared and big GW tried inoculation on his wife, and found it worked very well. GW forced every new soldier that joined the continental army in Philadelphia to get inoculated. However, nearly 3-4,000 soldiers died because they didn't all get inoculated. Lil' Ben Frank & Big GW both thought the British were spreading Small pox to the Continental army. This shows how important disease prevention is, even 250 years ago and how everyone should get inoculated or more likely vaccinated against modern diseases.

SUMMARY

During the Revolutionary War, women of all different ethnic backgrounds took part in this historical event. Women, such as Molly Pitcher and Deborah Sampson, took part in the war either to help fight along with them or disguise themselves as a man to be able to serve their country. In addition, women, such as Abigail Adams and Phillis Wheatley, remained away from battle and rather advocated for themselves and women. All of these women made profound contributions during the American Revolution.

FUN FACTS

One thing that surprised me was that Women followed their husbands in the Continental Army by being camp followers and tended towards the domestic side of an army organization.

Another thing that I found interesting was that several women were willing to risk their lives even if they had to disguise themselves as someone else.

IMPORTANT

I think it is important to be able to gain this perspective from women because the social status of women prior wasn’t in a good place. The Irish also went to America in look for political independence.

Some things that surprised me were: The Irish had their own revolution which was kind of inspired by the American Revolution and, about 55000 protestant Irish went to America.

It's important to look at this through their perspective because it shows how one thing can effect multiple people and places in different ways. The American Revolution really did have an impact on the Irish and seeing how it even lead to their own revolution is important.

During the Revolutionary War, George Washington started to take action and help the public with their health when small pocks were an issue. He started doing inoculation to help protect the public. Small pocks were very feared because they killed more people than any other gun or person would. His family and wife also did inoculation which is surprising because it shows he trusted it enough to do it with his family. This is very interesting because it shows that he cared for his military and was willing to put them first, rather then making them work during a war.

Summary:

During the American revolution, Irish immigrants supported Americans in their fight against the British. Ultimately though, they were not very important to any of the major developments. The Irish were very sympathetic to the Americans cause, as they were "the first colony" that the British took control over. After the events of the American revolution, the Irish were inspired to their own revolution against the British, this was their main effect on the fight against the British.

Interesting facts:

1) America got their independence by 1783 while Ireland did not get theirs until 1949.

2) The Anglican and Catholic church had large impacts on Ireland in the time before the American revolution to after the Irish revolution.

Why it is important:

I think it is important to look at history through the Irish Immigrants perspective because they are a good representation of how an important event, such as the American revolution, impacts others. The Irish Revolution was heavily inspired by the American Revolution, and likely would not have happened, at least not in the same way, if the Irish had not been involved in the American Revolution.

The British mislead the soldiers with their promises. They gave them bad land; it was just like another form of slavery. Since the American colonists where still hunting the escaped slaves, they would usually change their names.

One thing that surprised me was that a belief back then was that it was the British monarchy rather than the new American republic that was more likely to deliver Africans from slavery.

I think it is important to look at history through this perspective because we get to see why the Enslaved people sided with Britain.

In the reading it says British Freedom had title to 40 acres, and another one and a half of what the lawyers’ clerks in Halifax were pleased to call a “town lot.” Enslaved people would fight in the war and in trade they got their freedom and the 40 acres of land. The land ended up being bad with the soil being thin and strewn with boulders. It surprised me that even after they fought in the war and helped they still got bad land. What also surprised me is that even after they got their freedom they still had to work for the white loyalists. I think it is important to look at history through this perspective because enslaved people were mislead into fighting for the British army, in return for land but they were instead given bad land. Also because even after they were given their freedom they still had to work for white people.

Summary- In this reading, it says the Natives and English settlers were at war because of unfair taxes. the British gov tried to manage the relation ship between their colonist and Native Americans. The British were concerned about the violence so the two groups split. At the end people had to choose a side. At the end the British claimed territory over the East Mississippi and South of Canada. This choice was made without the Natives because they wanted to block off most to all white people settlement.

What surprised me - That the Natives weren't given an input to the land.

Why it's important to look at history from the natives view - They were angry because of land and conflict between them and the white settlers. This caused them to go to war the Natives still wanted the land they owned instead of fighting for it. The British didn't give them a choice because the Natives would've gone to war again when the British was trying to calm things down.

They were also promised freedom, but the "freedom" ended up being another form of slavery. There were also Americans still hunting slaves in the colonies, so in order to bring less attention towards themselves, they changed their names, examples include British Freedom, Dick Freedom, and Jeffery Liberty.
