Fold the fabric in half. Lay the printed fish shape on it, draw round and cut out.
2. Place the two pieces right sides together. Starting at the dot sew the two pieces together until you get to the next dot. 
3. Turn right way out. (You may need to clip into the corners)
4. Turn the raw edge up into the fish and sew in position.
5. Draw round the fish fossil on felt or card. Cut it out and insert into the fish.
6. To make four fossils you will need:
  • Socks – odd socks or old socks can be used, you don’t need to buy new.
  • A pen.
  • Needle and thread.
  • Polyester stuffing or spare fabric for filling.
  • Scissors
  • 6 Buttons or beads. 
  • Fabric approx size 2 sheets of A4 
  • Card or felt A4 size
  • A4 fish print out 

(N.B. Ichthyosaur paddle not included)

Tie a knot in the sock and check it fits into the end of the fossil. If it doesn’t untie and adjust.
7. Cut the remainder of the sock into tentacles.
8. Sew on buttons or beads for eyes. Alternatively you could draw them on.
