It is the ability to detect and manipulate the sounds in words independent of word meaning.
Important: Improves reading skills and it can be taught before Ss begin to read.
Teachers: Must have a good pronunciation of the different sounds and when Ss present errors, provide them a feedback, and the correct usage.
