Comentó que, si el almirante no hubiera descubierto el Nuevo Mundo, no habrían faltado hombres de talento y habilidad para realizar la misma hazaña. En ese mismo instante, Colón se levantó y cogió un huevo. Preguntó a los presentes si sabrían hacer que se mantuviera de pie, derecho, y sin ningún apoyo. Nadie lo logró. El navegante cogió el huevo y lo colocó justo en vertical, no sin antes haberle dado un pequeño golpe sobre uno de los extremos con la mesa. “¡Eso es muy fácil!”, le dijeron los que vieron el movimiento. “Sí, pero a nadie se le ha ocurrido hacerlo”, sentenció Colón dejando a todos perplejos.
