2000.

cho dalbit and his older twin, cho haneul, were born on may 10 to unknown parents and were left on the doorstep of an orphanage in the outskirts of blackvale, nevada.

(before 2011).

after enduring years of abuse and mistreatment at the hands of the orphanage, the twins ran away from the institution and made their way close to the city centre, where they would spend some time living on the streets and surviving off anything they were able to steal. it was haneul who did all of the work, however, as he was the only one who was able to use his powers at that time.

2011.

dalbit awakened his superpower, shadow manipulation, for the first time, making both twins human mutants with opposite abilities.

2012-2014.

the twins learned how to work together with their powers and became a notorious juvenile criminal duo. eventually some illegal betting house—one that pits mutants against each other in a fighting ring—recruits them as their star assets. they brought the ring lots of income, and in exchange, they were given shelter and necessities. it was barely enough, however, and they ended up suffering from the same mistreatment they went through while at the orphanage, if not worse.

2015.

having had enough of the abuse they suffered at the hands of their carers, they decided that it's either they run away a second time or put an end to it all. dalbit preferred the harmless route, but haneul was so hellbent on revenge that he convinced dalbit to help him destroy the place. dalbit, feeling like he had no choice but to be in his brother's shadow, ended up having a hand in the mass murder that took place in the betting house. 5 were found dead on the spot, 3 succumbed to their injuries later, and 1 person was heavily wounded. those who managed to escape the scene were never to be seen again.

2015-2016.

they were back on the streets, but this time as a self-proclaimed vigilante duo. they targeted white-collar criminals and those who abuse their power to trample on the weak. for dalbit, however, the guilt of having to take one life after another started to consume him.

2016.

dalbit made the difficult decision to cut ties with his twin brother after realizing that haneul was beyond salvation. they had their first and final confrontation which ended up in a stalemate due to them being on equal footing with their respective powers. they were on the verge of death, but dalbit fled the scene before his twin could deliver the killing blow. he turned himself in to the police once his condition was stable enough. after months of trial, they sentenced him to three years of government-affiliated hero work, taking into account the fact that he was still a minor and showed remorse and a strong desire to redeem himself.

2016-2019.

dalbit worked as a hero under the codename puppeteer. while the first few months started off rocky as he suffered from constant nightmares and apprehension to use his powers for combat, he managed to overcome them after seeking professional help and proved himself as a highly competent hero who genuinely wanted to help people. after his three years were up, he was offered a contract renewal with ludicrous benefits, but he declined it and retired himself as a hero, having some qualms with the government themselves (they were, as he expected, as inevitably corrupt as anyone who held high positions of power).

2020-present.

he's currently living a normal life as cho dalbit, a well-loved kindergarten teacher by day and a freelancer who does hero-related work on a contractual basis by night, despite having officially retired from that side of the world. all he wants to do in life now is to be of service to those who needs him, and perhaps one day, reunite with his long lost twin brother and save him the way he saved dalbit when they were children.

background :: (tw animal cruelty) dalbit rescued her in the winter of 2022 near his workplace, where someone had poisoned the mother dog and left her litter of puppies to drown. mario was the only one to survive; dalbit took her to the vet immediately and they were fortunately able to stabilize her condition. he didn't intend to keep her and wanted to give her away to someone else, but he grew too attached while nursing her back to health and decided to adopt her.
