Pinterest is a social media platform in which users are shown a feed of images and links that are preferable to them. This is done by Pinterest getting to know the user when they initially create their account by asking them about their interests and hobbies. This is also updated throughout the user’s experience on the platform through the algorithm picking up various interactions. The user can make a personal board where they can save their favourite images and they have the option to make this board public to other users. 

Pocket allows the user to save articles and web pages to come back to later and even access them offline. Users can use tags to organise their saved information and search for particular items using keywords or tags. Additionally, Pocket provides a recommendation engine that identifies relevant content based on users' reading preferences and interests.

When it comes to functionality, Pinterest is more geared towards visuals and easy viewing, whilst Pocket is focused on articles and web pages. Users can flick through Pinterest without being too heavily focused on what they are looking at, like a browse, whilst Pocket is quite the opposite. Using Pocket, to get the full experience, users must give their full attention to what they are doing to obtain the full experience, whilst Pinterest can be more of an aimless scroll.
