الرَّاحِمُونَ يَرْحَمُهُمْ الرَّحْمَنُ ارْحَمُوا مَنْ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَرْحَمْكُمْ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاءِ
English: "The merciful are shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth, and you will be shown mercy by the One in the heavens." (Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1924, Sahih)

Hope for Forgiveness (39:53): "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful'".
Mercy Encompasses All Things (7:156): "...My mercy encompasses all things...".
Mercy Prescribed by Allah (6:12): "...He has decreed upon Himself mercy. He will surely assemble you for the Day of Resurrection, about which there is no doubt".

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The merciful will be shown mercy by the Most Merciful. Be merciful to those on the earth, and the One in the heavens will have mercy upon you.”

this Hadith mean that if you show kindness to someone you will get that kindness returned to you

Prophet Muhammad’s favorite cat, Muezza, was sleeping on the sleeve of his robe when the call to prayer happened. Instead of waking up the cat, the Prophet cut off the sleeve of his clothes to allow her to continue sleeping peacefully. This is an act of mercy to the animals

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:

مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ، وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ

English:

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should speak good or remain silent, whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honour their neighbour, and whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should honour their guest.”

Example

If someone annoys you at school, instead of saying something rude, you stay quiet or say something kind.
If your neighbour needs help, you help them.
If a guest comes to your house, you treat them nicely and
respectfully.

my own understanding:

A true believer, controls their words, is kind to people around them and treats guests with respect

Abbas 6D

Yesterday, I showed mercy to a stray cat by giving it water. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to be kind to animals, and I remembered that while helping it. I made sure the cat was safe and comfortable, and it made me feel happy to follow his example. Small acts of mercy like this are important in Islam and make Allah pleased.
