Decrease in Canadian exports

One Canadian export which has decreased is farm products such as wheat. I think they have decreased due to low profits in the international market causing farmers to wait for the market to bounce back to start exporting again. Costs can be affected due to various factors such as an influx in supply, low demand, or other international trade factors. Another potential reason why exportation rates were down could be due to high costs to transport goods. Inflation has been at an all time high this past year and it is felt in every industry throughout Canada. Transportation costs could have simply been too high for there to be enough profit margin for farmers to make it worth their time and efforts.

Import that Canada has bought way more of-Cars

One Export that Canada has bought a lot more of is cars. I think that Canada has done this due to a shortage. I think it also has to do with the high demand for new vehicles. Cars are used in most people's everyday lives due to people needing a car as a source of transportation in order to get to and from places, Canada is running out of suppliers and models for the number of people who need/want them. With the amount of people wanting cars, the inventory is becoming low which leads me to believe that, that is the reason why Canada is buying a lot of cars.

Canola oil is one example of a Canadian export that has fallen, mostly as a result of trade conflicts with China, price instability, and international competition. Canada, on the other hand, has boosted its purchases of safety gear (PPE) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic due to higher demand, delays in the global supply chain, and government spending efforts to guarantee a sufficient amount of PPE.

Increase in Vehicle Imports

In recent months, imports of vehicles into Canada have increased due to increased customer demand. This reveals a variety of facts about our economy, some metrics pointing towards a recession can be countered by this fact. This shows Canadians are less concerned about recession because they are importing new cars, a financial liability. However, this is another example of what causes inflation, because Canadians still feel confident enough to borrow in order to purchase these vehicles. This is effectively another example of easy money from the bank, inflating our dollar yet again. So on one hand, we should be excited about consumers feeling confident enough to import vehicles, but we should worry about the effect it may be unknowingly having on inflation.

<sup>
Agricultural product exports have decreased in Canada I think there are a few reasons the first one being market Conditions: Fluctuations in global commodity prices and supply and demand dynamics can impact agricultural exports. A decline in market prices for certain agricultural products can lead to reduced export revenues. Currency Exchange Rates: Exchange rate fluctuations can affect the competitiveness of Canadian agricultural exports in international markets. A strong Canadian dollar can make Canadian products more expensive for foreign buyers, potentially reducing demand. Trade Barriers and Tariffs: Changes in trade policies, including the imposition of tariffs or trade barriers by trading partners, can affect the ease of access to foreign markets for Canadian agricultural products. Trade disputes and protectionist measures in other countries can hinder export growth. Climate and Weather Events: Canada's agricultural production is highly sensitive to weather conditions. Adverse weather events, such as droughts, floods, or extreme temperature fluctuations, can lead to lower crop yields and reduced exports.

July Increase in Agricultural exports - Liam McCreery

After four months steadily decreasing agricultural exports (mentioned in the article) July has seen an uptick of 9.7% in exported agricultural products, driven by higher prices caused by the yearly pre harvest July gouge, and smaller overseas supply attributed to a poor European grain production year. Heavy rains in july have had large impacts on grain crop quality in southwestern Ontario, creating higher prices for A1 wheat, likely meaning lower export quality and therefor lower export revenue for grains in the coming months. as a result of Canadian policy on carbon emissions, namely the carbon tax, the cost of transportation has increased drastically, and crop prices and yields have suffered under the the new 2023 federal tax on nitrogen, a necessary fertilizer and biproduct of natural gas production. This following the yearly price fluctuation, it is very unlikely that Julys positive gain will remain, and instead will see large loss of export quantity/quality as well as higher prices domestically.

A Canadian import that has been increased in demand drastically as of late is precious metals from the United Kingdom. The action of this was caused by Canadas trade balance taking a 3.4 billion dollar deficit. Which has effected the Canadian exports to decrease in value, Causing the UK to import metals at a cheaper cost. The mineral trade as of lately has taken an increase of 3% resulting in 12.9 Billion surplus in Canadian metal exports. Another reason why Canada stopped exporting metals and started importing at the sudden time is because Canadians working for cargo transportation have recently been striking on July 4 2023. Then causing an economic pause on overseas trade.
