  • In 1977, Alva won the ‘Men’s Overall World Professional Skateboard Championship.’ He was also voted ‘The Skateboarder of the Year’ by Skateboarder Magazine Reader Poll, and he also set the ‘World Record’ in Barrel Jump.
  • Recently, A pioneer and inventor of vertical skateboarding, Tony Alva is known as the godfather of modern skateboarding. Tony Alva was the first skateboarder to successfully pull outside air and thus invented vertical skateboarding.
  • One interesting fact about this athlete is Tony helped bring the vertical aspect to the skateboard world which is why skateboarding is so much fun today.
