(a)  Nothing deserves worship except God (Allah).
The first part  state that God(allah) has the exclusive right to be worshipped inwardly and outwardly, by one’s heart and limbs.
God’s right to be worshipped is the essential meaning of Islam’s testimony of faith
"Worship God!  You have no other god but Him." (Quran 7:59, 7:73; 11:50, 11:84; 23:32)
(b)  Muhammad is the Messenger of God (Allah).
The second part of the confession of faith asserts that he is not only a prophet but also a messenger of God.As we can see like all prophets before him, he was a human being, but chosen by God to convey His message to all humanity The believer’s effort to follow Muhammad’s example reflects the emphasis of Islam on practice and action.

– To show that Muslims do ibadah, worshipping Allah and reminding themselves that none in worthy of worship except Allah..>When we do ibadah,it shows that we are worshipping to Allah and our lives are meant just for Allah.

– To remind us that Allah gave humans a life to obey him, so we ensure this by following the guidance of the Quran and following the prophet Muhammad...>We should be grateful to Allah for giving everything in our lives and in order to repay back,we must serve ourselves towards Allah and follows what Islam had taught us.

  • There is no God but Allah alone is not enough because other faiths can also claim the same belief (especially the people of the Books) but do not accept Prophet Muhammad as the messenger.>This can be seen from other religions..
  • By proclaiming that Muhammad is the messenger means that they accept his teachings hence the holy Quran as the final message..>Muhammad is the role model for the believers[through Sunnah]
  • Omission of any of the part means not fulfilling the requirement to be considered a believer..
