Advantages- researchers have a stronger hold over variables to obtain desired results; the results are specific; after analysing the results, you can apply your findings to similar ideas or situations.
Disadvantages- it is highly prone to human error; it is time consuming; manipulating control variables may have ethical implications.

Advantages- provides a comprehensive picture of the characteristics, attributes of a particular population or phenomenon.
Disadvantages- can be difficult to generalise the findings from the study; may not provide you with accurate information about the target population; lack of control.
Advantages- usually low cost; helps lay the foundation of a research; enables the researcher understanding at an early age.
Disadvantages- they provide qualitative data; interpretation of such information can be judgemental and biased; usually lacks conclusive results

Experimental research: this is a study conducted with a scientific approach using two sets of variables. It’s a form of comparative analysis in which you study two or more variables and observe a group under a certain condition or groups experiencing different conditions.

Correlation research: this investigates relationships between two variables (or more) without the researcher controlling or manipulating any of them. It is a type of non-experimental research method where the researcher understands and assesses the statistical relationship between them with no influence from any extraneous variable.

Descriptive research: this is a research method describing the characteristics of the population or phenomenon studied. It is one in which information is collected without changing the environment.

Explanatory research: this is research undertaken to gain a better understanding of a problem or issue, to clarify or define parameters of the problem, or to refine a general idea into a more specific research problem.
