Some major differences between a democratic government and an authoritarian government are that in a democracy, all of the power of the country is placed upon the people of that country but in an authoritarian government, the power of the country is put in the hands of one person or a small group of people but not everyone. Another difference between a democratic government and authoritarianism is that in a democracy, the government relies on the belief of following laws, and in a authoritarianism, the government relies on denying freedoms to the citizens.

Question #4

I think the most common type of government today is a republic. 99 countries out of the 180 in the world (according to cia.gov) are republics meaning, that more than half of this world's governments are a republic. I believe that republic governments are the most popular because in a republic most of the citizen's opinions are heard but it is not as disorganized as a democracy where every single citizen's opinion is heard. Republics are not as chaotic because a large group of people's opinions are summed up and a representative is sent to the capital where laws are sorted out.
