Used frequently in genres like documentaries or independent short films.
Multi Cam- Typically has a larger budget and uses multiple cameras on a variety of locations, used to gain multiple angles and character reactions. 

An example of single cam would be Paranormal Activity and an example of multi would be Saving Private Ryan.
