Good characteristic: working together, open communication, clear responsibilities, all team members are aware of the end goal, designated group roles

Example: I had to create and participate in a group speech for a public speaking class. Overall, the experience went very well. There was a designated leader, each member was in charge of a certain part of the speech, we worked on the speech in person, and we even took time for each person to practice their section. The main setback we faced was planning times the whole team could meet as well as planning the location of the meeting. We were all able to compromise on the time and location, so the setback was not a dramatic setback.

Good Characteristics when working in a team: working together, having a positive mindset, all of the team members are aware of the end goal, everyone on the team has a unique skill to bring to the table, everyone has a role

Example: When I am at work, my team (the staff) and I need to do a lot of problem solving since we are working with individuals with Autism, who are all very different who have different needs. One thing that we do well as a team is communicating. The admins and the staff are in constant communication about the individuals if there are any changes (like in medication, home life, school life) that can impact the individual that day. Another thing that we do well as a team is that we know our strengths and weaknesses as a team. Some of us are stronger in other aspects then others and vice versa, so we balance each other out. One thing that I think we need to work on as a team is that sometimes the staff is not open to criticism because they are stuck in their old habits that are not working. Sometimes the staff thinks that what they are doing is working but when people around them are the outsiders that are looking in see that there are some struggles and try to give them advice, some people do not take that very well. Which in my opinion, needs to change because there is always room for improvement

Good Characteristics when working with a team: working together, common goals, an open mind, everyone has a role on the team, everyone bring a unique skill and perspective, and interactions are positive.

Example: When at work and working with a team it is sometimes difficult to communicate with your staff that you oversee, which is a set back that I faced. In this instance, I was placed into a school as the supervisor and the staff had been working there for a time before me. The staff did not respect the way that I wanted the program to run and did not like that I came into the school and began to fix things that were not working properly or up to code. The benefits that come with working with staff who have the same mindset and goals as you the program will flow well and you will be able to work together to solve problems and have the safety of the students handled and still be able to have fun.

Good characteristics when working with a team is coming together to make a situation better, different disciplinary areas such as speech, OT, and resource, and a good range of different years that teachers have taught so that older teachers can learn with fresh ideas and younger teachers can build off of others experiences, and facilitators.
Example: When working with a team a benefit that I saw that I had brought to the table was that I had more experience than others so I was able to coach and lead people in the direction that they needed to go. A setback that I saw from this was that I was younger than the people I was coaching were. This was a setback because sometimes they did not respect me in a way that I felt that they should have.

Positive characteristics when working with a team include: collaboration, organization, listening to others thoughts and opinions, an open mind, designated roles and responsibilities.
Example: When working on a team in my internship I found it to be beneficial to allow all members of the team to state their overall goals. For this instance it was a behavior problem that has occurred in the classroom. We all then stated what we saw and how we think the team and staff should move forward from this situation. I recommended a pros and cons sheet for certain interventions that were discussed during the meeting. This was helpful because the team members were able to visually see the positive and negatives to certain solutions stated. One setback we had was individuals agreeing upon certain pros and cons. After allowing all members to state their opinions we were able to come to an agreement. I feel that although we had disagreements we were all able to come up with a solution that benefited the student and met the overall goal discussed before the meeting began.

Characteristics that I look for in a team are: open communication, positivity, collaboration, understanding of end goal and responsibilities.
Example: When working in a team for a class project I found there to be both benefits and also setbacks. Some benefits were that we all started the project off well and designated roles for everyone to complete so everyone had an understanding of the end goals and their own responsibilities that played a part in meeting that end goal. Also we had good communication throughout working on the project when there was any confusion on anyones own part everyone was able to ask for help. A setback was there was on team member who did not keep up with their part of the project even though at the beginning they understood what their responsibilities were. We had to keep reminding them to complete their part and unfortunately at the end some of us had to to finish their part of the project so the end goal was reached in time.

After I had completed the entire project, they both had messaged me at 11:30 pm the night before it was due. One benefit I did have was a guarantee that it was done correctly.

What are good characteristics that you look for in a team?
- The positive characteristics that I look for are: a person who is open to giving and receiving feedback, someone who is positive, someone who is a good listener, and someone who is able to communicate clearly with others.

Example:
- Personally, I have had a lot of experience working with teams, in and out of the classroom. Some of the benefits are having other people all working towards the same goal. I was on a team for an assignment in one of my classes and we were all working towards completing a project with the hope of getting bonus points that would boost our overall grade, and since we were all working towards the same goal everyone did their part. However, I have also been on the other side of a team, where no one else cared, and I was left doing all of the work. I think that this is really common with groups. If you are working with other people who are not as invested as you are, you can feel like you are left doing all the work.

What are good characteristics that you look for in a team?
- I think the most important thing I look for in a team is having a mutual respect and rapport with one another. I thinks it's crucial for team members to have an open mind to others ideas and receive constructive feedback and/or criticism in order to grow.
Example: I have learned ALOT this semester about what I look for in a team, especially in a classroom setting. I have developed close relationships with members on my students IEP teams and I think the hardest part has been getting my CT to hear my opinions on things. With everyone else however, they allow me to use my input and hear my voice. With this, I have seen what I both like and dislike in my team members and this experience has shown me a lot about what I want others to see in me when working in a team in my own classroom.

What are good characteristics that you look for in a team?
-I look for a team that is able to value the input/opinions of their team members. Being one-sided is highly ineffective when implementing this strategy, considering the purpose of collaboration is to bring in a plethora of ideas in order to find the best solution.
-I am required to work as a team with the teachers that I co-teach with at my internship. This has been an amazing experience, considering the fact that I have the opportunity to practice planning as well as collaboration. The teachers that I plan with are extremely respectful and help me to understand concepts that I am unfamiliar with. Although I would not say there are any significant setbacks, I don't feel as though I have too much to offer as of right now in terms of offering planning suggestions. Overtime, I'm sure I will gain confidence in this area and will certainly become more involved.

Good characteristics to look for in a team: everyone having a positive attitude/valuing the thoughts and opinions of others, good communication, and a clear goal and roles for each of the members.

Example:
When I worked as an RBT I was on a team for each of my clients. The team consisted of the client's BCBA and each of the RBTs that worked with that client. One good thing about being a part of that team was that we were able to share information and experiences about that client and brainstorm together possible solutions. The BCBA was typically grateful for the input and gave the RBTs further instructions together. That allowed everyone to be on the same page. One drawback was that not everyone does what they say they're going to do so that sometimes led to confusion or other issues.

What are good characteristics you look for in a team?
-Everyone works well together and has a positive outlook, open-minded, gives and accepts feedback, similar goals, willing to communicate and collaborate to share options and ideas.

Example: This semester in my internship my clinical teacher, the other special education teacher, and myself are working as a team. We work together to plan lessons and schedule instruction. We are all working towards the same goal of helping our students be as successful as they can be in school and life. One benefit of working as a team is we are able to bounce ideas off of each other and learn from one another. When things don't go as planned we can come together to reflect and brainstorm what can be done better. Working as a team has allowed me to see things that I want to use in my future classroom and things that I would do differently.

What are good characteristics that you look for in a team?
- The positive characteristics I look for most in a team are commitment, good communication, understanding, and organized. It is crucial that all members of the team are passionate about and committed to the project because if they do not have the drive or time to put towards the project, they will not give their best effort. A good team member also needs to be able to listen and take criticism from the other members of the team.

- I have worked in team settings both academically and in sports. Most of my experience working in a team on a more long-term basis comes from playing sports. Some benefits to being on a team include positive support from your teammates and the feeling of accomplishment when you worked together to achieve a goal. My experience working with a team in an academic setting comes from group projects. Group projects can be a blessing or a curse depending on who is in your team. I have had multiple experiences where I was left to do all the work in a group project because the rest of the group would not do their part.

There are four of us in the class at certain times of the day and it is up to all four of us to make sure that class runs the way it is supposed to, and that each child's needs and supports are being met. Some of the benefits are that we can all delegate our attention to different areas and students that need us. We are all able to put our efforts into promoting student success, whether that be academic, social, or emotional aspects. A draw-back is that sometimes it can be hard to tell who should be doing things like discipline (and there can even be some disagreements on how a student should be disciplined). It is very efficient for maximizing the effectiveness of the time we have with the students.

Being in a completely new culture, we were experiencing stress and it was easy to get on each others nerves and be short with each other. This caused miscommunication and tenseness for a while. But we also were really good about coming together, explaining what happened, listening to everyone explain how they were feeling and reconciling.

Good characteristics that i look for in a team: those who work well together, those that take initiative, honestly, good at communication, and those who can be respectful of others opinions and views.
When I was on my sororities exec board some benefits that I saw were that we had a mutual respect for one another and we all had the common goal of doing what was best for the sorority and not ourselves. One set back that I witnessed from the team was that some of the people did not take it seriously and were telling some of the discussions that we needed to keep private. After open communication that setback no longer existed.

Characteristics that I would look for in a team include: a team that has clear goals to achieve, everyone understands their roles and responsibilities, everyone understands the teams expectations and respects the boundaries of others, all interactions and behaviors are appropriate, everyone works together to solve problems, and finally everyone considers their teammates perspectives and skills that they bring to the table.

From elementary-highschool I was a cheerleader. So I was a part of many teams. Benefits would include the feeling of success and achievement I would feel if we hit a new stunt or me and my tumbling partner would learn a new skill or even going to competitions. I would say the biggest set back was trying to get along with everyone. This ultimately led me to quitting. I was not particularly the one who would be apart of the bickering and arguing and mean girl vibes, BUT I just did not like all of the cattiness anymore and choose to remove myself from the team. So, yea, teams can be difficult when personalities collide.

Characteristics that I would look for in a team: I would look for a team that can both coexist together but also work independently when needed. This would also include good communication and problem solving skills that remain professional.

Example: When playing for my high school football team we had to work as a team to reach our goal of winning. This included teamwork and practicing skills such as blocking, tackling and running in order to get better at our craft. Some setbacks would include when injuries would occur and you would have someone new fill a spot where your teammate had been for such a long time.

Good characteristics: equal participation, everyone's ideas are considered and valued, open communication, everyone respects each other, everyone has a shared goal/outcome, each member contributes something new.

Example: I am part of a dance-instructing team for work.
- Benefits: each member had something unique to contribute, we worked together and each had responsibilities to put on recitals and help dancers at competition, able to share ideas and advice to one another for dances.
-Drawbacks: there was inconsistent communication between the team, some of the expectations were not clearly defined, there were some team members that came unprepared.
