community. I love the idea of creating opportunities for students to forge meaningful links with their community by inviting people inside the school gate and taking our students out. They would be so much experience and knowledge in our wider school and local community. Do we access it enough?

I think our job as teachers is to prepare students for the world they're living in, which is quite different to the world in which we grew up. I wonder if the ability to 'know stuff' is going to become less important than the ability to 'do stuff'? I was interested to read that space (and presumably time) for collaborative 'hands on' activities where creativity, community and connection can be developed (often referred to as 'soft skills') has such an impact on girls' enthusiasm, self-efficacy, and persistence in STEM subjects.

I think transdisciplinary learning is quite a challenge for school where the day is often broken up into discrete periods. I think the early years does this better than primary or secondary schools. Is there anything we can learn from how kindergartens operate? Is transdisciplinary learning more challenging for secondary schools?
