 El plástico tarda cientos de años en degradarse, mientras que se fragmenta en partículas pequeñas capaces de ser transportadas a grandes distancias por el viento y el agua, contaminando todo el planeta. Más de 267 especies marinas están amenazadas por estas basuras flotantes. Algunas son tan pequeñas que son apenas visibles, pero siguen portando toda su carga de toxicidad.  Los participantes con posterioridad al proyecto, salimos con una percepción inclemente de la realidad,

Los materiales usados en la playa fueron:
- Un cubo, para llenarlo de agua y hacer la división de los microplásticos, que flotaban en su superficie.
- Un bote de cristal, para poner los plásticos encontrados.
- Una pala, para llenar el cubo anteriormente dicho de arena del área marcada con el tamiz.
- Y el tamiz, que lo utilizamos para marcar un área de 50 centímetros cuadrados, 25 cm por arriba de la linea de marea y otros 25 por abajo. Ademas, la arena recogida de esa superficie, la echamos al cubo, utilizando el tamiz de colador, para solamente introducir materiales de tamaño pequeño.
- Una bolsa hermética, para meter la basura encontrada, para después analizarla en el laboratorio.
Y los instrumentos que usamos en el laboratorio fueron:
- La lupa binocular, que la utilizamos para analizar visualmente la basura encontrada.
- Las pinzas para coger la basura encontrada en ambas playas.
- Una bandeja para verter, separar y contar la basura.
- Y una báscula, con la que pesamos la basura ya clasificada.
