Callista (07)

The story of Gingerbread Man different from traditional fairy tale, In term of :

Social media -> Because in the past there was no social media.

Market place -> Because in the past we had to go to the seller's place first.

The old woman's personality went from good to evil. Because, at first the old woman was the safe place for the Gingerbread Man, but when they were making the product together, Gingerbread Man felt tired and asked the old woman for permission to take a rest first. And the old woman apparently did not give him permission to rest first and forced him to keep working.

The old woman's immediate decision to share the gingerbread man's story online and her hope for "many likes and comments" highlights the modern obsession with social media validation. However, this fame ultimately leads to the gingerbread man being overworked and exploited. His inability to rest due to his "responsibility as the mascot" illustrates how the pressure of maintaining online popularity can negatively impact well-being. This suggests a cautionary lesson about the potential downsides of seeking and maintaining viral fame.

The old woman's house was originally supposed to be a safe place. But it turns out that after making the product together, for me the house can't be called a safe place because the old woman made a mess.

Social media and market place in the story to sell products from old women so that it can be known by many people. Because in this day, these two elements are can't be separated.

Both have sad endings, but in the fractured story Gingerbread looks sad and needs help, while in the traditional story he just looks sad.

While the relationship between the gingerbread man and the old woman exhibits some superficial characteristics of a business partnership (shared goals, division of labor, interdependence), it is fundamentally exploitative. The old woman leverages the gingerbread man's unique existence for her own financial gain, with little to no regard for his well-being or desires. The power dynamic is heavily skewed in her favor, and she ultimately views him as a means to an end, rather than an equal partner. The "benefits" for the gingerbread man are fleeting and overshadowed by the old woman's self-serving actions.

The Gingerbread Man was famous because many customers took photograph of him and uploaded to their social media. They thought that the Gingerbread Man was a human who work a costume, but actually he was a real cookies who had been Made by the old woman.

I want to change the ending to a happy ending by making Gingerbread record all the actions done by the old woman and upload it on social media, and made the old woman's business deserted of customers.

Positive, because in the Gingerbread Man story, social media is used as promotional material for products from the old woman, and market place is used as a place for buying and selling.

Quinsha (28)

1. The story of Gingerbread Man different from traditional fairy tail, In term of:

a. Social media, The old woman shares her story to gain likes and comments.

b. Online marketplace, She sells gingerbreads online.

c. Business branding/marketing, The gingerbread man becomes a product mascot.

- These modern elements contrast with the traditional story that focuses more on a simple chase and ending with the gingerbread being eaten by a fox.

2. Initially, she is loving and excited to bake the gingerbread man. Later, she becomes opportunistic and business focused. When the gingerbread man is weak, she shows no compassion and prioritizes her business over his well being. This shift reveals she is ambitious, pragmatic, but ultimately selfish and exploitative.

3. Don’t exploit others for personal gain (The old ojv man despite his illness), Fame can be superficial and isolating (People adored him online but abandoned him when they learned he was just a cookie), Be cautious in trusting others (The rooster pretended to help but had bad intentions).

4. It was not good advice in the long run. Although he avoided being eaten initially, returning led to exploitation and ultimately his death. The advice underestimate the risks of being used for profit.

5. Because social media and marketplaces in the story are used to sell their products so that they are better known to many people.

6. The ending of the traditional story and the fractured story are both sad,ei but in the traditional story it only looks sad. but in the fractured story he is weak and needs help.

7. At first, it seems mutually beneficial: he saves himself, she grows her business.

But over time, it becomes exploitative he works even when sick, and she refuses his request for rest. The imbalance shows a power dynamic where one party gains at the other’s expense.

8. It symbolizes how appearances can be deceiving, the tendency to project assumptions, and how society may overlook the true identity or humanity of individuals if it’s inconvenient or doesn’t fit their narrative.

9. I would have the rooster genuinely help the gingerbread man return home. Then, the gingerbread man could negotiate better work terms or start his own bakery, empowering himself. This would promote hope, agency, and fair treatment, creating a more inspiring ending.

10. Positive, because in the Gingerbread Man story, social media is used as promotional material for products from the old woman, and market place is used as a place for buying and selling.

Stefanie (34)

1. The Gingerbread Man Fractured fairytail different from traditional story, in term of:

- Smartphone ~ in this story lot of people using Smartphone because it was a in the modern era, but in the traditional story no one use Smartphone.

- Social Media ~ in this story lot of people using Social Media to share their story, unlike in the original story where there is no Social Media.

- Online Marketplace ~ in this story lot of people use online Marketplace for selling their product, while in the original story, their selling product with traditional selling methods.

2. The character of the "Old Women" behavior change throughout the story, in the beginning of the story the "old woman" was a 'safe place'

( a good person ) for a gingerbread man, but in the end of story her personality change, she turn into a bad person who makes gingerbread working non stop until the rooster ate the Gingerbread. The "old woman" change from a good person into a bad person ( Evil ).

3. The story teaches us not to take advantage of others' kindness. Every being has their own limits.

- In this story the old woman refuses the Gingerbread's request to take a little bit break even thought he feels unwell, and she make the gingerbread work until he fainted.

>> " Ma'am, I felt unwell. May i get a break?" Gingerbread Man said. "No, you must deliver gingerbread to the customer today. You must do your responsibility as the mascot of my product." The Old Women replied.

4. I think the 'Old Women' house is not the 'safe place' for the gingerbread Man, because in the end of the story the 'old woman' makes gingerbread Man working non stop until he fainted and get eaten by a rooster.

5. Smartphone, Social Media and online Marketplace is three things that can't be separeted in the modern era. And In this story, the character use this three things for selling and promote their product.

6. Both stories have a sad ending. But I prefer the traditional gingerbread Man tale, because it has a good story and satisfying ending.

7. At first, the relationship between the Old Woman and the Gingerbread Man was mutually beneficial. But in the end, it became exploitative, because the Old Woman made the Gingerbread Man work nonstop.

8. They thought that the Gingerbread Man was a human who wore a costume, but actually he was a real cookie who had been Made by the old woman.

9. I would like to change the ending into a happy ending, where the Gingerbread Man can return into the 'old woman' house, and talk to her about his true feelings. Then the old woman can understand his condition, and she can looking for another ways to promote her products.

10.

1. Main Differences: A modern version would likely alter several key elements. For instance, the Gingerbread Man might not just run from traditional pursuers (old woman, farmer, cow, etc.) but could interact with characters or situations more relevant to contemporary times

Possible Elements Included

Modern Characters: Pursuers might include police, social media influencers, or even robots. Modem Setting: The story could be set in an urban environment, a shopping mall, or even online.

New Motivations: The Gingerbread Man might run to seek fame, avoid responsibility, or find freedom, rather than just because he "came to life."

2. Changes: in s modern story, the baker/old woman might no longer be just a lonely old lady. She could be a pastry chef, an artist, or even a scientist who accidentally created a living Gingerbread Man. Her

transformation might go from confusion to determination to reclaim her "creation," or even to pride in what she has made.

Personality: Her personality could vary from persistent, cunning, desperate, to obsessive, depending on how the modern story chooses to highlight her role.

3. Consequences of Actions: If the Gingerbread Man runs away and causes chaos, the moral could be about the importance of taking responsibility for

our actions. Search for Identity: If the Gingerbread Man is seeking a "safe place or his identity, the moral could be about self-acceptance or finding

purpose.

Dangers of Social Media/Fame: If the Gingerbread Man goes viral, the moral could be about the darker side of fame or how information can be distorted.

Importance of Family/Home: Even if he runs, he might eventually realize the value of home or connection with his creator

4. Protection: The '"mother" might realize the dangers the Gingerbread Man would face outside (being eaten, captured, exploited).

Experiment/Project: If the Gingerbread Man is the result of an experiment, the "mother" might not want her project damaged or taken by others. Foreknowledge: The "mother" might have

information about the old woman's (fox's) ill intentions in the modern version, or there's another threat outside.

Concern for Exploitation: The mother might be worried the Gingerbread Man will be exploited due to his uniqueness

5. Cancel Culture/Cyberbullying: If the Gingerbread Man goes viral and faces online criticism or threats.

Privacy and Data Security: if pursuers try to track him through technology or personal information. Exploitation of Creativity/Work: If parties seek to

profit from the Gingerbread Man's uniqueness. Consumerism: If pursuers went to sell or consume

the Gingerbread Man as a product. Distrust of Authority: If the Gingerbread Man runs. from "authorities" who might not have the best intentions.

6. Recurring Cycle Perhaps he is never fully caught, implying that social issues are never truly resolved. Triumph of Freedom: He might successfully escape and find a safe place, highlighting the importance of individual liberty

Consequences of Greed: If he is caught and eaten, it could be a warning about greed or the dangers of not heeding advice.

Self-Acceptance: He might stop running and accept his fate or find meaning in his existence

7. The Gingerbread Man gains protection or a safe home in return,

He has an active role in decisions and shares in the profits.

The business promotes a positive message or noble cause.

Exploitative: It is highly likely to be exploitative if

He has no voice or control over his image. He is treated as an object or property rather than a living being.

Profits are solely enjoyed by the business owners, while the Gingerbread Man gains nothing.

His uniqueness is exploited without considering his

"feelings" or "rights."

8. Dehumanization/Objectification: People see him as

an object (cake/cookie) rather than a living being with consciousness and perhaps feelings.. Lack of Empathy. They fail to understand his struggle or desire for freedom because they perceive him as food.

Cognitive Bias: People often see what they expect to see, and they expect a cookie, not a living being. Impact of Labels: The label "cookie" prevents them

from seeing his deeper identity. Understanding Gap: A disconnect exists between. the Gingerbread Man's reality and people's

perception

9. Happy Ending (with a twist): The Gingerbread Man is not eaten, but he finds a community of unique living beings like himself, and they live peacefully, perhaps even establishing their own "secret city." This would shift the message to one of identity

discovery and community.

Cautionary Ending: The Gingerbread Man successfully runs but eventually realizes that freedom without purpose can feel empty. He returns to his creator, realizing he missed connection. This would emphasize the value of

relationships. Satirical Ending: He goes viral, gains millions of followers, but then tires of the spotlight and tries to disappear, highlighting the burden of digital

fame.

10. Social Media: The Gingerbread Man could go viral, be pursued by 'fans" or "haters," or even become a meme. This could accelerate the plot and introduce new characters (influencers, online journalists).

Online Tracking: Pursuers might use GPS, apps, or facial recognition to track him, Fake News/Misinformation: Information about the Gingerbread Man could spread rapidly and inaccurately.

Impact on Characters: Characters might become more obsessed with "catching" the Gingerbread Man for online content, or fear "cancel culture" if they fail.

Depiction of Technology

Positive: If technology helps the Gingerbread Man find allies or convey his message. Negative if technology is used for exploitation, persecution, or the spread of misinformation.

Neutral: If technology is merely a tool used for both good and bad purposes, reflecting the complexity of its use in society

Lailatus Syafa'ah/19 & Aisya Devi W./5

1. •There's a use of social media to share stories.

•The old woman conducts online product sales.

•The gingerbread man becomes a business mascot, not just a character who runs away like in the traditional version.

2.Initially, she appears sweet and caring while making the gingerbread man, but then she becomes selfish and exploits him for her business. This shows that she's cunning and self-serving, despite her initial appearance of kindness.

3.This story teaches that exploiting other beings for personal gain is wrong. For example, the old woman forces the gingerbread man to work despite being ill, until he eventually collapses and is eaten by a chicken.

4.That's not good advice, because it turns out the old woman just wants to exploit him as a mascot, not protect him.

1.This version differs by including modern elements such as:

•Social media: The old woman posts about the gingerbread man online hoping for likes and comments.

•Online marketplace: She sells her cookies through an online platform, not a traditional market.

•Business branding: The gingerbread man becomes the mascot of her brand, a concept common in modern marketing.

2.At first, the old woman is selfish and wants to eat the gingerbread man. After meeting the fairy mother, she changes and sees a business opportunity. This shows she is ambitious and adaptable, but also lacks compassion, as she forces the gingerbread man to keep working even when he is sick and weak.

3.

•Do not exploit others: The old woman refuses to let the gingerbread man rest, even when he’s unwell.

•Things are not always what they seem: People thought the gingerbread man was just someone in a costume, but he was a real cookie.

•Partnerships should be fair: The gingerbread man did most of the work, but the old woman got the benefits.

4.No, it wasn’t good advice. Although the house seemed safe from being eaten, the gingerbread man ended up being overworked and unappreciated. It was not truly a safe or kind environment—it was just another form of control.

5.

The story blends fantasy with real-world themes like:

•Worker exploitation: The gingerbread man is overworked without proper care or rest.

•Social media obsession: People take photos of him but ignore his real struggles.

•False appearances: Misjudging based on looks symbolizes how society often misunderstands or ignores deeper truths

6.In the traditional tale, the gingerbread man is eaten by a fox. In this version, he becomes weak and is eaten by a rooster. I prefer the modern version because it offers more depth—he’s not just running for his life, but facing issues like labor and identity. It also critiques society, which makes it more meaningful.

7.It was mostly exploitative. While the woman gained fame and profit, the gingerbread man got overworked and ignored when he needed help. A true partnership should involve mutual respect and care, which was missing here.

8.It symbolizes how society often fails to see the real struggles of others. People were focused on appearances and entertainment, not on understanding the gingerbread man's true identity or feelings. It reflects a lack of empathy in today’s digital world.

9.I would change the ending so that the rooster helps the gingerbread man return safely, and the old woman realizes her mistake. She would apologize and give him proper care and rest. This way, the story would end with redemption and mutual respect.

10.Technology plays a big role in the story. It helps the old woman grow her business and makes the gingerbread man famous, but it also brings pressure and misunderstanding. Overall, the depiction is mixed, showing both positive (business growth) and negative (exploitation and lack of empathy) sides of technology.

She refuses to give him a break, even when he is weak. This shows how greed and overworking others can lead to negative consequences.

- Fame is temporary

The gingerbread man becomes an online sensation, with customers taking pictures and sharing him on social media. However, when he weakens and breaks, people quickly lose interest and abandon him. This reflects the nature of viral fame, where popularity can disappear as fast as it arrives.

- Beware of deception

The gingerbread man, exhausted and desperate, asks the rooster for help. Instead of helping, the rooster tricks and eats him, showing that not everyone who offers assistance has good intentions. This warns against blindly trusting others without considering their motives.

Returning to the old woman’s house initially provides safety, as the gingerbread man avoids immediate danger. However, over time, the old woman exploits him, refusing to let him rest despite his weakening condition. This suggests that the “safe place” was actually a trap, where he was overworked until his eventual demise. Had the gingerbread man sought true freedom instead of returning, he might have escaped his tragic fate. The lesson here is that safety does not always mean security it depends on who controls the environment and whether their intentions remain good.

This version of The Gingerbread Man mixes traditional fairy tale elements with modern issues like social media fame, commercialization, and labor exploitation. The gingerbread man’s rise and fall reflect the fleeting nature of viral success, while the old woman’s greed highlights the dangers of prioritizing profit over well being. The story serves as a cautionary tale about the costs of fame and overwork in the digital age.

The traditional ending focuses on trickery, while the modern version highlights exploitation and burnout. The classic tale teaches caution, whereas the fractured version critiques capitalism and fleeting fame. I prefer the ending of the traditional gingerbread man tale because the story is classic and has a deep moral message.

The gingerbread man’s partnership with the old woman starts as mutually beneficial but becomes exploitative. He helps her grow her business, but she overworks him, prioritizing profit over his well being. In the end, he is discarded when no longer useful, reflecting the dangers of labor exploitation and fleeting fame.

People thought the gingerbread man was a person wearing a costume because they judged only by his appearance, not reality. This shows how society often makes quick assumptions based on what they see without understanding the truth. In today's world, it relates to misunderstandings about identity or fame, where people believe things at first glance without looking deeper.

I would rewrite the ending so the gingerbread man, realizing he is being exploited, decides to escape. Instead of collapsing from exhaustion, he cleverly tricks the old woman and sneaks away to start a new life. He joins a hidden village of runaway baked goods, where they help each other and live freely, never fearing being used for profit again.

Technology in this story is both a tool for success and a trap. Social media makes the gingerbread man famous and helps the old woman grow her business, but it also leads to exploitation and exhaustion.

The old woman’s character shifts from kind and nurturing to opportunistic as she uses the Gingerbread Man for business profit. This reveals a more ambitious and pragmatic side of her personality.

3. The moral of the story highlights the importance of honesty, identity, and respecting boundaries. The Gingerbread Man feels exploited because people don’t see him as a living being but as a marketing tool.

4. The fairy’s advice can be seen as good since it offers safety. It seemed like good advice at the time, because the old woman had created him and he escaped from her. But in the end, it was not safe, because the old woman used him without considering his well-being.

5. The story combines traditional fairy tale elements, such as a living cookie and animal characters, with modern issues like labor exploitation, social media influence, and work-life imbalance.

6. The traditional version is funnier and more whimsical, so I might prefer that one for its simplicity—but the modern ending has stronger messages.

7.

Nama : Felicia Anjalin Kasyadivia

Absen : 15

1.This version differs by incorporating modern elements such as social media (the old woman shares a story online), online business (selling gingerbreads via marketplace), and the gingerbread man becoming a marketing mascot. These updates reflect today's digital and commercial lifestyle, unlike the traditional version which focuses only on running away from pursuers.

2.At first, the old woman is kind and excited to bake a gingerbread man. However, after her online business grows, she becomes more demanding and refuses to let the gingerbread man rest, prioritizing profits over his wellbeing. This shows that she is both entrepreneurial and selfish, willing to overwork others to maintain success.

3.The story teaches us about the dangers of exploitation and burnout. Even when someone is helpful and successful, like the gingerbread man, overworking them without care can lead to negative outcomes. For example, the old woman refuses his request to rest, which leads to his collapse and eventual death.

4.It was not entirely good advice. While the house seemed safe at first, it turned into a place of overwork and neglect. The fairy mother might have meant well, but she underestimated how the old woman would exploit the gingerbread man once he returned.

5.The story blends traditional fairy tale structure (talking gingerbread, magical creatures) with modern themes like digital entrepreneurship, social media fame, and worker exploitation. It may be commenting on current social issues like labor rights, toxic hustle culture, and the dehumanization of workers in online businesses.

6.In both endings, the gingerbread man dies, but for different reasons. The traditional ending shows natural consequences of arrogance, while the modern version highlights exhaustion and exploitation. I prefer the modern ending because it gives deeper meaning and reflects real-world issues, making it more relatable and thought-provoking.

7.This partnership started as mutually beneficial—the gingerbread man helped attract customers, and the old woman gave him shelter. However, it quickly became exploitative when she overworked him and ignored his needs. The old woman benefited more, turning the gingerbread man into a tool for profit, not a true partner.

8.This misunderstanding symbolizes how society often overlooks the real struggles of others. People saw the gingerbread man as entertainment, not a being with feelings. It reflects how workers or public figures are sometimes seen only as roles or products, not as individuals with emotions and needs.

9.I would change the ending so that the gingerbread man escapes and starts his own bakery, using his fame to promote kind working conditions and respect. This would give the story a hopeful, empowering message about standing up for yourself and using your voice for good.

10.Technology drives the plot forward—social media makes the gingerbread man go viral, and the online marketplace grows the business. While it brings success, it also leads to his exploitation. So, the depiction is mixed: technology is powerful but can be harmful when used without empathy or balance.

At first, Grandma seemed kind, but after the Gingerbread Man helped her grow her business, she started to change. She didn't give her time off, which shows that Grandma started to lose empathy and become selfish.

3. This story reminds us not to overwork people. The Gingerbread Man asked for a break, but was refused. This shows the importance of listening and caring for others. The balance between work and health is also important, because even though the grandmother's business was successful, the Gingerbread Man's health suffered.

4. At first it seemed because the grandmother created the Gingerbread Man, but it turned out that it was not true. The story combines elements of a classic fairy tale with modern issues, such as work exploitation, social media pressures, and lack of life balance.

6. Both versions of the story end sadly, but the modern version feels more touching because it raises issues that are relevant to real life.

1. Here are at least three modern elements included in the story:

* Social Media Usage: The gingerbread man's creator uses a "smartphone to share a story in her social media." This is a stark contrast to the traditional tale where such technology doesn't exist, and the focus is purely on the chase. The gingerbread man even "hopes to get many likes and comments," showing a clear understanding of modern online engagement.

* Online Selling/E-commerce: The old woman, after creating more gingerbread men, "could sell her products via online too." Furthermore, the gingerbread man himself "could provide her with online sales." This introduces the concept of e-commerce, where goods are sold through online platforms, which is completely absent in the traditional narrative.

* Digital Marketing and Branding (Mascot, Photography, Uploading to Social Media): The old woman "realized that the gingerbread man was to be the mascot of the old woman's market place." This shows an understanding of branding and marketing. Additionally, "the old woman took photograph of him and uploaded to their social media," which is a modern marketing tactic to promote a product or brand using visual content online. The gingerbread man even wears a costume, which further highlights the idea of a mascot for promotional purposes.

2. • Her Behavior Changes Throughout the Story:

* Initial Behavior: Traditional and Domesticated (Focused on simple baking)

   * She starts by engaging in a very traditional, domestic activity: making a gingerbread man to eat. Her initial intention is clear: "she decided to make a gingerbread man. She put flour, sugar, and ginger in a bowl, added butter, and mixed them all together. Then she shaped the dough into the form of a man."

   * Her reaction to the gingerbread man coming to life is one of surprise and an immediate desire to consume him: "At the put the gingerbread man into the oven to bake, she said, "You'll be my special little gingerbread man. I can't wait to eat you up."" This shows a conventional, consumerist mindset regarding her creation.

* Transitional Behavior: Frustration and a Shift in Mindset (Dealing with unexpected problems)

   * When the gingerbread man escapes, her behavior shifts to one of frustration and pursuit: "After a while, the gingerbread man popped out of the oven and jumped off the tray. He ran out of the door, shouting, "Don't eat! I'm too fast for you!""

3. In summary, this modern retelling serves as a cautionary tale, especially for the digital age, emphasizing that superficial validation and irresponsibility on social media cannot replace genuine integrity and the fulfillment of one's duties.

4.In conclusion, the fairy mother's advice was indeed good from a practical and moral standpoint. It represented a call to return to responsibility and a realistic understanding of his nature. However, the Gingerbread Man's delusion and obsession with social media kept him from recognizing and accepting this true "safety," leading to his unfortunate end.

5. this modern Gingerbread Man tale serves as a cautionary fable for the digital age, warning against the seduction of fleeting online fame, the pitfalls of neglecting real-world responsibilities, and the ultimate futility of deception when faced with tangible consequences.

6. I prefer the modern ending, primarily because of its relevance and sharper satirical commentary on contemporary issues.

Here's why:

* Direct Link to the Core Modern Message: The traditional ending serves a general moral about pride and trusting strangers. The modern ending, however, directly ties the Gingerbread Man's downfall to the very issues the story has been building: his irresponsibility, his attempts to shirk duties, and his continued reliance on deception. He's not just running; he's running from his job, and his final interaction is another attempt to manipulate someone to avoid fulfilling his obligations.

7. While there was a potential for limited mutual benefit in terms of the Gingerbread Man getting attention and the old woman getting publicity, the relationship quickly became overwhelmingly exploitative. This was due to the Gingerbread Man's complete lack of consent and autonomy, the old woman's coercive control, and the inherent nature of the Gingerbread Man as a consumable product.

The story uses this dynamic to highlight themes of responsibility versus exploitation, especially when one party has absolute power over another, echoing real-world concerns about labor rights and ethical business practices. The Gingerbread Man's continued rebellion, even within this "partnership," is his desperate attempt to regain some autonomy, which ultimately fails.

8. The widespread belief that the Gingerbread Man was a person in a costume, not a living cookie, is a powerful symbol within the story, primarily commenting on authenticity, perception versus reality, and the curated nature of online personas in the digital age.

symbolizes:

* The Illusion of Online Authenticity:

   * Symbolism: In the age of social media, many individuals curate highly polished, often unrealistic, versions of themselves online

9. If I could rewrite the ending of the story, I would aim for an ending that still delivers a strong moral lesson about responsibility and the pitfalls of social media, but offers a chance for redemption or a more nuanced consequence rather than immediate consumption. I would also make the Gingerbread Man's realization more explicit

10. Technology, specifically social media and an online marketplace, significantly impacts the characters and plot of this modern fairy tale.

Here's how:

For the Gingerbread Man:

•Initial positive outlook

•Shift to desperation and business

•Negative impact of online rejection

•Loss of control and agency

The depiction of technology in this story is complex and largely negative, but with a nuanced acknowledgment of its potential for both good and ill.

1. The story of Gingerbread Man different traditional fairy tale :

a. The old woman use smartphone and social media platforms to promote her gingerbread business, seeking online fame and customer engagement.

b. The gingerbread man becomes a mascot for the old woman's online business, highlighting themes of branding and marketing in the digital age.

c. Online shopping/marketplace is included but the old woman sells Gingerbread onlsel

2. At first, she seems kind and excited about baking. Later, she becomes more business-minded and even forces the gingerbread man to work when he is sick. This shows she can be selfish and exploitative, valuing profit over care.

3. One moral is that people should not exploit others for personal gain. The old woman used the gingerbread man as a business tool and didn’t care about his health. Because in text Gingerbread man said "Ma'am, I felt unwell. May I get a break?" and the old woman said "No, you must deliver gingerbreads to customers today. You must do your responsibility aas the mascot my product". Another lesson is greed leads to downfall, as the woman’s selfishness led to the gingerbread man’s death.

4. Yes, because the fairy mother advises the gingerbread man to go back to the old woman’s house and stay safe. And she helps him realize the importance of home and safety.

5. The story blends a fairy tale structure with modern issues of social media and the market for fame and profit in online sales.

6. In the traditional tale, the gingerbread man is eaten by a fox. In this modern tale he is eaten by a rooster after being overworked and abandoned. I prefer the modern ending because it gives a more powerful lesson about human behavior.

7. It is exploitative. Because the old woman forces the gingerbread man to continue working when he is sick and only because he is a mascot that sells in her shop. She benefits, but the gingerbread man suffers and his leg is broken and he is eaten to death by chickens.

8. It symbolizes how people often ignore the truth or reality behind appearances, and how assumptions can lead to harm, as no one helped him when he needed it.

9. I would change the ending so that the rooster helps the gingerbread man and brings him home. This would show the importance of kindness and empathy, even from strangers.

10. Technology is shown in a negative way. It causes the old woman to become greedy and use the gingerbread man for fame and profit. It leads to the gingerbread man's exhaustion and death.

The moral message that can be learned is not to be taken advantage of by others for their own benefit without thinking about our condition, for example when Gingerbread Man asked for a break because he was tired.

4. No, Despite the fairy's good intentions, the old woman did not care about the gingerbread man's condition. She still forced the gingerbread man to work even though he was sick. This shows that the house was not

5. The story combines traditional fairy tale elements, with modern using social media, marketplace and exploitation. for example, the old woman forcing gingerbread to work when sick describes exploitation at work and use social media, online shops to trade.

6. in the modern ending the gingerbread man is tricked by the rooster, and eaten. in the old version ending the Gingerbread man can escape from the old woman, the old grandfather. I prefer the ending to the old version because it can free himself from the pressure of the old woman

7. at first it was mutually beneficial because the gingerbread men were not eaten by the old women and old woman Selling well in online shops is ultimately exploitative because the gingerbread man doesn't make a profit because the old woman forces him to work too hard.

8. The misconception that the Gingerbread Man is just a person in a costume, not a living being, can symbolize how people often judge things by their outward appearance without trying to understand them.

9.

1. This story differs from the traditional version by including modern elements like social media, online business, and identity issues. For example, the Gingerbread Man goes viral, becomes part of a brand, and is mistaken for a person in costume.

However, it is also questionable because the old woman had previously used the Gingerbread Man for personal gain. So is it truly a "safe" place?

5. The story blends a classic fairy tale with modern issues like media exploitation, self-identity, and business ethics. It comments on how technology and society can blur personal boundaries and values.

6. Compared to the original, which ends with the Gingerbread Man being eaten, this version is more complex and open-ended. The modern ending may be more thought-provoking and relatable for today's readers.

7. The relationship between the Gingerbread Man and the old woman is like a business partnership, but it leans toward exploitation since he is used without fully agreeing. The benefits are not equally shared.

8. The misunderstanding of the Gingerbread Man's identity reflects how society often judges by appearances. It represents social issues like stereotyping and lack of empathy.

9. If I could change the ending, I would have the Gingerbread Man find a new community that accepts him for who he is. This would send a strong message about self-worth and acceptance.

10. Technology speeds up the story and amplifies conflict—like how the Gingerbread Man goes viral online. Its impact is shown as both negative (exploitation, identity confusion) and positive (increased awareness). So, technology is portrayed in a balanced but complex way.

The nature of the old woman

In the beginning, the old woman was very happy and excited to make gingerbread cookies and focused on the gingerbread business. The old lady and the gingerbread man worked together, until finally the gingerbread man got tired of his work and asked the old lady for a break, but the old lady didn't agree and put more importance on her business without mercy and didn't give the gingerbread man a break.

3. Don't be too ambitious to the detriment of others. A story with modern issues which includes social media and online marketplaces.

6. The ending is equally sad. However, I prefer the old story, because I think at the end of the story the gingerbread cookie is very cool because it can run fast to beat some humans and animals.

7.

## 1. Differences from the Traditional Fairy Tale & Modern Elements

This version of "The Gingerbread Man" differs from the traditional tale in several ways:

- Social Media and Online Sales: The old woman makes gingerbread men to sell online, and the gingerbread man becomes famous because customers post his photo on social media[1].

- Mascot Role: The gingerbread man becomes the mascot of the old woman's business, representing her products to customers[1].

- Business Partnership: The story includes elements of business and marketing, such as delivering products to customers and acting as a brand mascot[1].

These modern elements update the story for contemporary readers and reflect current societal trends.

## 2. Analysis of the Old Woman's Character

At first, the old woman is creative and entrepreneurial, making gingerbread to sell online. As the story progresses, she becomes more focused on her business, even refusing the gingerbread man's request for a break when he feels unwell[1]. This change reveals her increasing prioritization of profit and business success over empathy and care for the gingerbread man.

## 3. Moral Lessons

Several moral lessons can be drawn:

- Overwork and Exploitation: The gingerbread man becomes sick from overwork and lack of rest, showing the dangers of exploitation and ignoring personal well-being[1].

- Value of Compassion: The old woman's refusal to let the gingerbread man rest leads to negative consequences, suggesting that compassion and understanding are important in any relationship, including business.

- The Illusion of Fame: The gingerbread man is popular on social media, but this fame does not protect him from harm or loneliness[1].

## 4. The Fairy Mother's Advice

The fairy mother advises the gingerbread man to return to the old woman's house because it is the "safe place" for him[1]. This advice is questionable: while the house provides some safety, it also becomes a place of exploitation and overwork. The advice is only partially good, as it ignores the risks of being used for someone else's gain.

## 5. Blending Traditional and Modern Elements & Social Issues

The story blends traditional fairy tale motifs (magical creation, talking animals) with modern issues like social media influence, online business, and work-life balance[1]. It comments on:

- Workplace exploitation

- The impact of technology on personal relationships

- The superficiality of online fame

## 6. Comparing Endings

In both versions, the gingerbread man is eaten at the end. In the traditional tale, he is eaten by a fox; here, a rooster eats him after he is abandoned and weak[1]. The modern ending emphasizes the consequences of overwork and neglect, making it more of a cautionary tale about business and social pressures. Preference may depend on the reader: the modern ending offers more social commentary, while the traditional ending is simpler and more direct.

## 7. Business Partnership: Mutually Beneficial or Exploitative?

The relationship is largely exploitative. The old woman benefits from the gingerbread man's popularity and labor, but he receives no rest or care in return, ultimately leading to his downfall[1]. This highlights the dangers of unequal business relationships.

## 8. Symbolism of Misunderstanding

People believe the gingerbread man is a person in costume, not a real cookie[1]. This misunderstanding symbolizes how society can overlook the true nature or well-being of individuals, especially when blinded by appearances or commercial interests.

## 9. Rewriting the Ending

If rewriting the ending, one might have the old woman realize her mistake and allow the gingerbread man to rest, valuing his well-being over business success. This would promote a message of empathy and work-life balance.

## 10. Impact of Technology

Technology drives the plot: social media makes the gingerbread man famous, and online sales expand the old woman's business[1]. The depiction is mixed: technology brings success and attention, but also leads to exploitation, misunderstanding, and isolation for the gingerbread man. The story suggests that technology's impact depends on how it is used and the values of those who use it.

1. The story of Gingerbread Man different form traditional fairy tail. In term of :

- Social media = Many people use social media to do various things such as selling their merchandise.

- Smartphone = In this modern era, people use smartphone, unlike the traditional era where no one used smartphone.

- Marketplace Online = In modern era, many people use online marketplaces to sell their merchandise, unlike the old story, where he used traditional sales methods.

2. At first, the old woman was very fond and enthusiastic when she wanted to make gingerbread, so the gingerbread considered the old woman as a home for him. When the gingerbread felt tired and wanted to rest, but the old woman did not allow it and continued to force him to work.

3. in the story, we should not treat someone carelessly if we are already on top. - the old woman refused when the gingerbread man wanted to rest "Ma'am, I feel unwell. May I get a break" said the gingerbread man. "No, you must deliver gingerbread to the customers today. You must do your responsibility as the mascot of my product". replied the old woman

4. In my opinion, the "old woman's" house is not a safe place for the gingerbread man, because the old woman makes the gingerbread man work continuously so that he cannot rest.

5. Smartphones, social media, and online marketplaces are very useful in this modern era, because people can use these three things to open a business and promote it to the public.

6. both have sad endings. But I prefer the ending of the traditional gingerbread man story, because it has a good ending and doesn't get to the point.

7. At first, the relationship between the old woman and the gingerbread man was mutually beneficial to each other. But in the end, the relationship became exploitative, because the old woman was more concerned with her business and profits. And the gingerbread man was thrown away by her because he was no longer useful.

8. This gingerbread man is famous because many people take pictures of him and upload them on social media. They think that it is a gingerbread man wearing a costume. But in fact, he is just a cake made by an old woman.

9. I want to change the ending to a happy ending for the gingerbread man. Then the gingerbread man goes to the old woman's house to talk about what he feels, and the old woman can understand the situation, then the gingerbread man and the old woman can go back to work.

10. positive, because in this story social media and online marketplace are used to sell and promote their merchandise.

1. •The story features social media usage for sharing stories. •The elderly woman runs an online business selling products. •The gingerbread man serves as a business mascot, diverging from his traditional role as a fleeing character.

2. At first, the old woman seems kind and nurturing while crafting the gingerbread man, but her true nature reveals itself when she exploits him for her business gain, showcasing her cunning and self-serving personality.

3. The narrative highlights the wrongdoing of exploiting others for personal benefit. The old woman's treatment of the gingerbread man, forcing him to work while ill, ultimately leads to his downfall and demise.

4. This isn't a positive message, as the old woman's intention is to utilize the gingerbread man as a mascot for her own gain, rather than protecting him. The gingerbread man continues to suffer and face exhaustion.

5. The story seamlessly blends traditional fairy tale elements with modern themes like labor exploitation, online entrepreneurship, and social media persona, shedding light on the disturbing trend of objectifying individuals for financial gain.

6. The ending of this version is more sorrowful, as the gingerbread man is exploited and eaten by a chicken, rather than just being chased. I prefer the traditional tale for its simplicity and less devastating conclusion.

7. This is a clear example of an exploitative relationship, where the old woman benefits at the expense of the gingerbread man, who is forced to work while ill without receiving any compensation.

8. This serves as a symbol for society's failure to look beyond surface-level appearances, thereby neglecting to understand the suffering of certain individuals, like the gingerbread man.

9. I would alter the ending to be more uplifting – perhaps the gingerbread man escapes and finds a safe haven, conveying a more positive message about freedom and the right to live.

10. Technology is depicted negatively, as it's used to promote and exploit the gingerbread man. The old woman prioritizes online likes and sales over his well-being, highlighting the darker side of technology.

1. How does this version of "The Gingerbread Man" differ from the traditional fairy tale? Identify at least three modern elements included in the story.

This version includes several modern elements such as:

* Technology & Social Media: The old woman uses a smartphone and shares pictures of the gingerbread man online.

* Marketing & Business: The gingerbread man becomes the mascot of a cookie-selling business.

* Modern Social Issues: The story touches on themes like labor exploitation and social pressure.

2. Analyze the character of the old woman. How does her behavior change throughout the story? What does this reveal about her personality?

The old woman initially seems caring, but later becomes manipulative as she tries to exploit the gingerbread man for her business. This shows that she can be selfish and opportunistic, even though she appeared kind at first.

3. What moral lessons can be drawn from this modern version of the story? Provide examples from the text.

Some moral lessons include:

* Don’t trust people too easily, even those who seem kind.

* Don’t let yourself be used for others' gain.

* It's important to have freedom and control over your own life.

Example from the text: The gingerbread man feels tired and wants to stop, but the old woman keeps forcing him to work.

4. The fairy mother advises the gingerbread man to return to the old woman's house, saying it's the “safe place.” Was this good advice? Why or why not?

This was not good advice because the house was no longer emotionally safe. The old woman had been treating the gingerbread man like a business tool, not as a living being with feelings.

5. How does the story blend elements of traditional fairy tales with modern issues? What social issues does it address?

The story combines fairy tale elements with modern issues such as:

* Labor exploitation (the gingerbread man is made a business mascot)

* Social media pressure

* Lack of work-life balance

It seems to comment on how people are often used for the benefit of others in today’s society.

6. Compare the ending of this version with the traditional one. Which do you prefer and why?

In the modern version, the gingerbread man is not eaten but becomes a business symbol. This is more positive than the tragic ending of the traditional story. However, the modern ending also reveals the darker side of fame. Which ending is better depends on the value being emphasized—freedom or tragedy.

7. The gingerbread man becomes a mascot for the old woman's business. Was this business relationship fair or exploitative?

This relationship is exploitative because the gingerbread man had no choice and was forced to work continuously for the old woman's profit. He was not truly a partner, but more like a business tool.

8. People in the story believed the gingerbread man was a person in costume, not a living cookie. What does this misunderstanding symbolize in the context of the story?

This misunderstanding may symbolize a lack of empathy or understanding toward those who are different or don’t fit social norms. It also reflects how society tends to ignore truth in favor of comfort or entertainment.

9. If you could change the ending of the story, what would you change and why?

I would rewrite the ending so the gingerbread man starts a free life, builds a community of other “magical beings,” and doesn’t rely on humans. This would send a message about freedom and self-identity.

10. How does technology (social media, online marketplace) affect the characters and plot of this modern fairy tale? Is the depiction of technology positive, negative, or neutral?

Technology is portrayed as having a negative impact because it’s used to chase fame and profit without considering the effects on others. However, if used ethically, technology could also be a positive tool for sharing and connection.

At the beginning of the story, the old woman seems kind and creative. She bakes a gingerbread man and even calls him her "special little gingerbread man." This shows she cares about what she creates.

However, her behavior changes once the gingerbread man becomes useful to her business. She turns selfish and demanding. For example, she refuses to let the gingerbread man rest even when he is sick and tired. She says, “You must do your responsibility as the mascot of my product.”

This change shows that the old woman is ambitious and profit-driven. Her personality reveals that she can be manipulative—using others (like the gingerbread man) for her own benefit. She stops treating him as a living being and instead treats him like a tool for her success

3. • One moral lesson from this modern version of the gingerbread man story is that people should not take advantage of others for personal gain. In the story, the old woman used the gingerbread man to promote and sell her products without caring about his health or well-being. When he asked for a break because he felt sick, the old woman refused and said, "You must do your responsibility as the mascot of my product." This shows that she cared more about her business than about the gingerbread man's condition. In the end, the gingerbread man became too weak and was abandoned by people. This teaches us that using others selfishly can lead to harmful consequences.

4. • No, it was not good advice. The old woman's house was not a truly safe place for the gingerbread man. Although the fairy mother believed it was safe, the old woman only cared about using the gingerbread man to help her sell more products. She forced him to keep working even when he was sick and tired. The gingerbread man was not treated with kindness or respect. In the end, he became weak and broken because of the old woman's selfish actions. A safe place should be somewhere someone is cared for and protected, but the old woman only used him for her own benefit.

5. • The story blends traditional fairy tale elements, like talking cookies and fairy mothers, with modern issues such as social media, online business, and exploitation. For example, the old woman uses the gingerbread man to sell products online and posts about him on social media to attract customers. This reflects current issues like the pressure of online marketing, using people for profit, and how fame can be used or abused. It also highlights how workers or mascots can be overworked and mistreated in the name of business success.

6. In the traditional gingerbread man story, the gingerbread man is usually eaten at the end, often by a fox who tricks him. In contrast, the modern version ends with the gingerbread man being overworked until he becomes too weak and broken. He is not eaten, but he is abandoned by people who realize he is not real. This modern ending is more focused on the consequences of being used and not valued as a person. It teaches a lesson about overwork, exploitation, and the importance of care and respect, rather than simply being a tale of escape and trickery.

7. This relationship represents a mutually beneficial business partnership. The old woman gained popularity and profit for her business thanks to the gingerbread man, while the gingerbread man received shelter, purpose, and recognition. Both parties benefited and worked together for a shared goal, rather than exploiting one another.

8. This misunderstanding symbolizes how people often judge based on appearances and struggle to accept things that are unusual or unfamiliar. It reflects society’s hesitation to believe in what challenges their norms or expectations.

9. If I could rewrite the ending, I would have the gingerbread man start his own business with the old woman’s support. He could bake and sell gingerbread cookies online. This change would show his independence, character development, and the success that can come from healthy collaboration.

10. Technology like social media and online marketplaces has a positive effect in this modern fairy tale. It helps the old woman’s business grow and makes the gingerbread man famous. The story shows how technology can spread good things, build businesses, and reach wider audiences in a beneficial way.

*NAYLA EDYTRISQI X AK 1/24*

1.Modern elements in the story *The gingerbread man*

•>The old woman uses a smartphone to post on social media.

•>She sells her gingerbreads through an online marketplace.

•>The gingerbread man becomes famous on social media and is used as a product mascot.

2.Analyze the character of the old woman.

At the beginning of the story, the old woman appears to be kind and caring. She joyfully creates the gingerbread man and seems excited about sharing her creation online. However, as the story progresses and her business becomes successful, her behavior changes. She becomes more focused on profit and less considerate of the gingerbread man’s health and feelings. When he asks for rest due to his illness, she refuses and demands that he continue working. This change in her behavior reveals that she is ambitious and perhaps greedy. She values success over compassion, which shows that she can be selfish and exploit others for her own gain.

3.One important moral lesson from this modern version of the story is that responsibility should be balanced with kindness and empathy. The gingerbread man tried to fulfill his duties even when he was sick, showing that he was responsible and loyal. However, the old woman ignored his condition and forced him to keep working, which led to his collapse and eventual death. This shows that pushing someone too hard without considering their well-being can have tragic consequences.

4.The advice given by the fairy mother may seem good at first because she believes the old woman’s house is safer than the outside world. However, in the end, it turns out to be a bad advice. Even though the old woman was the one who created the gingerbread man, she later became selfish and forced him to work even when he was sick. If the gingerbread man had stayed away, he might have found a better place or met someone who truly cared for him. so, the advice was not good because it led him back to a place where he was not valued.

5.This modern fairy tale blends traditional elements like magical cookies and talking animals with current issues such as social media, online marketing, and worker exploitation. The gingerbread man becomes a "mascot" for the old woman’s business, reflecting how people or even symbols are used as branding in the modern economy. It also highlights the issue of overworking, especially when the gingerbread man is forced to keep working even when he's sick. This could be a commentary on labor exploitation, lack of empathy in the workplace, and how technology (like social media) can be used for business but may dehumanize individuals.

6.The traditional ending is more straightforward: the gingerbread man is tricked and eaten by a clever fox. In the modern version, he is overworked, ignored when sick, and finally eaten by a rooster. I prefer the modern ending because it adds deeper meaning. It doesn’t just show that the gingerbread man was fast or clever, but it also reveals how society can exploit and discard those who are no longer useful. It feels more emotional and realistic.

7.At first, the relationship seems like a partnership. The gingerbread man gives an idea to grow the business, and the old woman benefits from it. However, it becomes exploitative when she forces him to work even when he’s sick. A real business partnership should involve mutual respect and care, but in this case, the old woman only focused on profit and ignored his well-being. So, the relationship was exploitative rather than fair.

8.This misunderstanding symbolizes how people often judge based on appearances and fail to see the truth. It also reflects how society can ignore someone's true identity and feelings, especially when that person is being used for entertainment or business. The gingerbread man was real and had emotions, but people saw him only as something amusing or useful, not as a living being who needed care.

9.If I could rewrite the ending, I would make the old woman realize her mistake and apologize to the gingerbread man. She would allow him to rest and treat him with kindness. Then, they would build a business together as equal partners. This new ending would teach a better lesson about respect, compassion, and fair treatment, rather than ending the story in sadness and death.

10.Technology has both positive and negative effects in the story, so it's shown as neutral.

It helps the old woman expand her business and makes the gingerbread man popular.

Example: “She was happy because she could sell her products via online too.”

Example: “Many customers took photograph of him and uploaded to their social media.”

But it also leads to the gingerbread man being overworked.

Example: “No, you must deliver gingerbreads to the customers today.”

So, technology helps the plot move forward, but it also causes problems

Adinda (02)

1. The difference between the old story and the new version of "The Gingerbread Man" is the terms used and the activities carried out. In terms of:

      • Smartphone→ ..., the woman took her smartphone to share story...

      • Online marketplace→... so she could sell them via online in the market place.

      • Social media→... many customers photograph of him and uploaded to their social media.

2. The old woman's personality was initially good but eventually bad. Because at the beginning of the story, the old woman became a "safe place" for the Gingerbread Man, but when they started selling and the Gingerbread Man became a deliveryman, the old woman started to be cruel, when the Gingerbread Man said that he felt sick and wanted to rest, the old woman did not allow it and forced him to continue delivering food.

3. Don't be greedy for work and cruel to workers like that old woman, because they also have limits.

" Ma'am, I felt unwell. May i get a break?" Gingerbread Man said. "No, you must deliver gingerbread to the customer today. You must do your responsibility as the mascot of my product." The Old Women replied.

4. The old woman's house was initially a "safe place" but turned into an "unsafe place" when they started selling and the Gingerbread Man as a mascot. The old woman became greedy and cruel to the Gingerbread Man.

5. The combination of traditional fairy tales with current issues is found in the use of smartphones, online marketplaces, and social media. In the new version of the story, these three things are used by the Old Woman and the Gingerbread Man to sell and it also applies to the present where these three things are also useful for informing the public about what we want to convey/upload, such as promotions and posting photos.

6. Both fairy tales have sad endings, but the traditional version is only sad and that is because the Gingerbread Man is arrogant and thinks he is the fastest, while the new version is not only sad but also has a cruel ending for the Gingerbread Man because he is forced to work continuously by the Grandmother until he faints and is eaten by a rooster. I prefer the traditional ending because it is purely entertaining and does not contain cruel things like exploitation.

7. The relationship between the Old Woman and the Gingerbread Man is a business partnership that includes exploitation, where the Old Woman continues to force the Gingerbread Man to work while Gingerbread Man wants to rest due to illness.

8. The Gingerbread Man was famous, because many customer took photograph of him and uploaded to their social media. They thought that the Gingerbread Man was a human who wore a costume, but actually he was a real cookie who had been Made by the old woman.

9. I want to rewrite the ending of the Gingerbread Man who originally died because of the cruelty of the Old Woman to live freely and work together with the Old Woman happily, comfortably, and mutually beneficially. Because I want the fairy tale to be made for entertainment and not contain elements of exploitation and so on.

10. Technology in modern stories has a positive depiction, where online marketplaces and social media are used by the Old Woman and Gingerbread Man to sell.

1. This version of “The Gingerbread Man” is very different from the traditional one because it includes several modern elements. First, the old woman uses a smartphone and social media to share the story of baking the gingerbread man, which is a very modern activity. Second, she opens an online shop to sell her gingerbread products through the internet, something that doesn’t exist in the original tale. Third, the gingerbread man becomes a mascot for the old woman’s business, helping her attract customers. These changes show how the story has been updated to fit today’s digital world.

2. At the beginning of the story, the old woman seems like a kind person who just wants to bake a gingerbread man and share her activity online. However, her attitude changes after she realizes the gingerbread man can make her business more successful. She becomes selfish and greedy, forcing him to work even when he feels sick and tired. This change shows that the old woman only cares about profit and does not think about the gingerbread man’s well-being. Her character reveals how people can lose their kindness when they become too focused on money.

3. The modern Gingerbread Man story teaches that greed and fame can lead to exploitation. When the Gingerbread Man is sick, the old woman says,

"No, You must deliver gingerbreads to the customers today. You must do your responsibility as the mascot of my product," showing she cares more about profit than his health.

4. I think this was not good advice. Even though the old woman’s house may seem safe at first, it actually becomes a place of pain and overwork for the gingerbread man. The old woman forces him to keep working even when he is feeling unwell. In the end, he becomes too weak and faints. So, the so-called "safe place" becomes the place that harms him the most. This shows that sometimes a familiar place is not always a safe or healthy place, especially when people there treat us badly.

5. This story mixes traditional fairy tale elements like magical characters, talking cookies, and a fairy with modern issues. For example, it includes online business, social media, and work exploitation. The old woman represents business owners who care only about money, while the gingerbread man represents workers who are overworked and ignored. The story also criticizes how people are obsessed with fame and appearance on social media. So, it comments on real issues like employee mistreatment, the pressure of being popular online, and the danger of losing empathy in a digital world.

6. Both the modern and traditional versions of the story end in a tragic way the gingerbread man gets eaten. In the traditional tale, he is tricked and eaten by a clever fox. In this modern version, after collapsing from exhaustion, he is rescued by a rooster only to be eaten by him later. Personally, I find the modern ending even more heartbreaking, because the rooster first seemed like a kind helper, giving readers hope that the gingerbread man might finally be safe. But in the end, he turns out to be just like the others selfish and deceptive. This ending teaches us that not everyone who seems helpful has good intentions, and sometimes, even those who save us may still hurt us.

7. At first, the partnership seems good both the old woman and the gingerbread man are happy. But over time, it becomes exploitative. The old woman refuses to give the gingerbread man a break even when he feels sick. She only cares about selling her products. The gingerbread man gets nothing in return except more work and stress. This shows that the relationship was not equal; the old woman used him for her own success, without thinking about his health or happiness.

8. This misunderstanding shows how people often make quick judgments based on what they see online. Many thought the gingerbread man was just a costume and didn’t realize he was truly alive and suffering. This reflects how social media can make people blind to reality, causing them to miss the truth behind appearances. It also suggests that people are sometimes more interested in entertainment than empathy, which is a serious problem in today’s digital culture.

9. If I could rewrite the ending, I would change it so that the rooster truly helps the gingerbread man without harming him. Instead of eating him, the rooster could take him to a new place where he can rest and live peacefully. They could even start a bakery together where both are treated fairly and respected. This would give the story a hopeful and empowering message that after being used and mistreated, someone can still find kindness and a second chance in life. It would also show that true friendship and support exist.

10. Technology in this story plays an important role it helps the old woman gain fame and money by using social media and online sales. However, this same technology leads her to overwork and exploit the gingerbread man, caring more about success than his well-being. Even the people who follow her online don’t realize the gingerbread man is truly alive and suffering. In the end, the digital world helps create his downfall, while the rooster, who seems to save him, also betrays him. So, the story portrays technology in a mostly negative light, showing that while it can bring success, it can also cause people to lose empathy and treat others as objects.

1. Three modern elements included in the story:

•Social media: The old woman posts about the gingerbread man online hoping for likes and comments.

•Online marketplace: She sells her cookies through an online platform, not a traditional market.

•Business branding:

The gingerbread man becomes the mascot of her brand, a concept common in modern marketing.

2. In The Fractured Story of the Gingerbread Man, the old woman starts as kind and nurturing, baking the gingerbread man with care. When he runs away, she becomes determined and chases after him, showing her persistence and emotional attachment. As the story progresses, she may become frustrated or clever, depending on the twist. Her changing behavior reveals that she is caring but also strong-willed, emotional, and resourceful.

3. Moral Lessons from the Modern Version of "The Fractured Story of the Gingerbread Man":

•Pride Comes Before a Fall:

Just like in the traditional tale, the Gingerbread Man in this fractured version is overly confident and boastful. He brags about how fast he is and mocks those who try to catch him. His pride blinds him to danger, leading to his downfall—this teaches that arrogance can lead to negative consequences.

•Trust Wisely:

In many fractured versions, the Gingerbread Man meets new characters (often modern or humorous ones) who trick him. For example, if a character like a sly robot or talking drone helps him, only to betray him later, it shows the importance of being cautious about whom you trust.

•Actions Have Consequences:

The Gingerbread Man’s decision to run away causes chaos, disrupts others, and eventually leads him into trouble. This shows that running from your responsibilities or causing trouble for fun can have serious outcomes.

4. In The Fractured Story of the Gingerbread Man, the fairy mother's advice to return to the old woman's house may not have been good advice. While she calls it the "safe place," the old woman originally wanted to eat him. Returning there could be risky. However, it might also mean returning to someone who cared enough to make him and could protect him from others who want to eat him. So, the advice is questionable—it depends on whether the old woman has changed or still sees him as food.

5. The fractured story of the Gingerbread Man blends traditional fairy tale elements—like talking cookies, magical creatures, and a chase—with modern twists that reflect current social issues. For example, it may highlight body autonomy, consumer culture, or climate change by reimagining the Gingerbread Man’s escape as a protest against being consumed, mass production, or environmental destruction. These updates keep the core fairy tale structure but add deeper commentary on today’s concerns.

6. •In the traditional Gingerbread Man tale, the story ends with the Gingerbread Man being eaten by a clever fox after escaping various pursuers. It's a cautionary ending that highlights themes like pride and trust.

•In a fractured version of the story (a humorous or twisted retelling), the ending often changes. For example, the Gingerbread Man might outsmart the fox, make friends, or even start a bakery. These endings are usually funny, ironic, or empowering.

Comparison:

•Traditional ending: Darker, moral-driven, emphasizes consequences.

•Fractured ending: Lighthearted, creative, often flips the moral or gives the Gingerbread Man a happy twist.

Which is better?

If i enjoy classic morals and dramatic irony, the traditional ending works. But if i prefer humor, surprise, or happy outcomes, the fractured ending is more enjoyable.

=Personal preference: I prefer the fractured ending—it’s more fun, unexpected, and gives the Gingerbread Man a clever comeback.

7. The relationship between the Gingerbread Man and the old woman’s business can be seen as a business partnership, but its nature depends on consent and benefit. If the Gingerbread Man willingly becomes the mascot and gains fame, protection, or rewards, it is mutually beneficial. However, if he is used solely for profit without his agreement or personal gain, the partnership is exploitative. In most fractured versions, it leans more toward exploitation, as his identity is commercialized without clear benefit to him.

8. In the fractured version of the Gingerbread Man story, the misunderstanding that people think he is just a person in costume, not a living cookie, symbolizes how society often overlooks or misjudges those who are different or don’t fit expectations. It reflects themes of identity, perception, and the struggle to be seen for who you truly are. This misunderstanding adds humor, but also highlights the deeper issue of being misunderstood or dismissed by others.

9. If I could rewrite the ending of the fractured Gingerbread Man story, I would have the Gingerbread Man outsmart the fox by using a clever trick—like tossing a decoy cookie into the river—then escaping safely to start a bakery where he helps other pastries avoid danger. This change adds a positive twist and rewards his cleverness instead of ending with him being eaten.

10. The depiction of technology is mixed: it's positive in helping him evade capture and gain fame, but also negative as it increases his exposure and risk, showing how tech can empower but also endanger. Overall, it's a neutral portrayal, showing both the benefits and drawbacks.

Three modern elements :
a. Smartphone & social media : The old woman shares photos online to gain likes.

b. Online business : She sells gingerbread online and uses the gingerbread man as a delivery tool.

c. Marketing and branding : The gingerbread man becomes a business mascot, representing the company.

At first, she seems caring and traditional, baking cookies. However, her behavior changes when she sees business potential. She becomes ambitious and exploitative, forcing the gingerbread man to work even when sick. This shows she values profit over compassion.

The moral of this story teaches us not to overwork others, as it can make them tired and fragile, just like the gingerbread man. It also highlights the importance of empathy and understanding others’ situations, rather than refusing to give them a break like the old woman did. Lastly, it reminds us that appearances can be deceiving, so we should be sensitive and willing to help even if someone looks different or unusual.

No, it was not. Although she meant well, the old woman turned out to be exploitative. The "safe place" became a place of labor and suffering for the gingerbread man.

It combines fantasy (gingerbread man, fairy mother) with real world issues like Worker exploitation, Obsession with social media, Lack of empathy in business It critiques how people and even magical beings are turned into tools for profit and fame.

I prefer the modern version because the story is more realistic and touching. The modern version shows how someone can be used and left to suffer when there is no empathy. This ending also gives a stronger moral lesson about exhaustion, neglect, and the importance of valuing others instead of just using them.

It was exploitative. The old woman gained profit and attention, while the gingerbread man worked too hard without care, rest, or reward.

It symbolizes how society ignores true identity and struggles. People judged him based on appearance, thinking he was just a person in costume, not realizing he was alive and in pain similar to how real people are sometimes misunderstood or overlooked.

Rewrite the ending :

• Change: The rooster helps the gingerbread man get medical help or return to the fairy mother.
• Reason: This would give a more hopeful ending, showing that kindness and help can still exist, and people who are exploited can recover and escape.

Mixed impact (neutral):
• Positive: Helped grow the woman’s business and made the gingerbread man famous.
• Negative: Caused him to be overworked and misunderstood, and made people treat him as an object for content.

1. This version differs from the traditional fairy tale in several ways:

- Technology and Social Media: The old woman uses a smartphone and wants to share her gingerbread man on social media to get likes and comments.

- Business and Marketing: The gingerbread man becomes a mascot for the old woman's business, and his image is used to sell more gingerbread cookies.

- Modern Social Issues: The story discusses issues such as exploitation, work fatigue, and the pressure to perform in modern society.

2. At first, the old woman seems caring and excited to create the gingerbread man. However, as the story progresses, she becomes more focused on her business and profits, refusing to let the gingerbread man rest even when he is tired and unwell. This shows that she is ambitious and perhaps a bit selfish, prioritizing her own success over the well-being of others.

3. One moral lesson is the danger of exploitation. The gingerbread man is used as a mascot and forced to work even when he is sick and tired. Another lesson is the importance of compassion and understanding for others' needs, as shown when the old woman ignores the gingerbread man's request for a break.

4. This was not good advice. Although the fairy mother thought the old woman's house was safe, it turned out to be a place where the gingerbread man was overworked and not cared for. He was not treated as a living being but as a product, which eventually led to his downfall.

5. The story blends fairy tale elements (magical creatures, talking animals, and a running gingerbread man) with modern issues like social media, business marketing, and worker exploitation. It comments on how people can be used for profit and the negative effects of ignoring the well-being of others in pursuit of success.

6. In the traditional tale, the gingerbread man is eaten by a fox after being tricked. In this modern version, he is eaten by a rooster after being overworked and abandoned. I prefer the traditional ending because it is simpler and focuses on the theme of cleverness and trust. The modern ending, however, adds depth by highlighting social issues, which makes it more thought-provoking.

7. The relationship was exploitative. While the old woman benefited by selling more products, the gingerbread man was forced to work without rest and was not treated fairly. He did not gain anything from the partnership and suffered as a result.

8. This misunderstanding symbolizes how people often fail to see the true nature or needs of others, especially workers or mascots, treating them as objects or tools rather than individuals with feelings and needs.

9. If I could rewrite the story, I would give the gingerbread man a happy ending where he finds a place where he is appreciated and cared for, instead of being exploited or eaten. This would teach a more positive lesson about kindness and respect.

10. Technology has a mostly negative impact in this story. It increases the pressure on the old woman to succeed and leads to the exploitation of the gingerbread man. The desire for likes and business success overshadows compassion and ethical behavior.

Three modern included in the story :

-Social media => In the story, the woman posted the story on social media, whereas in the traditional story there is no social media.

-Marketplace => In the story, the woman markets her merchandise in the marketplace, whereas in the traditional story, traders sell their merchandise directly.

-Mascot => In the story, the gingerbread becomes the mascot in the old woman's shop, whereas in the traditional story there is no character that becomes a mascot.

At first, the old woman takes care of the gingerbread and makes products together and receives input from the gingerbread man to promote her merchandise on the market place. Her behavior changes when the gingerbread man asks if he can stop being a mascot at her shop because he feels tired and unwell but the old woman does not allow it and instead keeps telling him to work.

We must care about other people, must not impose our will on others, and must not be like grandmother who doesn't care about the gingerbread man's condition and says "No, you must deliver gingerbreads to the costumer today. You must do your responsibility as the mascot of my product" even though the gingerbread man is sick and weak.

and we cannot trust people we have just met, for example when the gingerbread man asked the rooster for help to take him to the old woman's house but the rooster said "I couldn't help you but I would eat you first".

In my opinion, the old woman's house is not a "safe place" for the gingerbread because the gingerbread is only used by the old woman and is not looked after properly.

Social Media and Market Place in this story is used to promote and sell goods. And nowadays these things cannot be separated.

Although both stories have sad endings, I prefer the traditional ending because at that time the gingerbread man was still in good health throughout the story he only experienced anxiety because he was chased by many people and animals. While at the end of the modern story the gingerbread man felt sick and weak.

In my opinion, this is very exploitative because the old woman only uses the gingerbread man for her own interests without thinking about the gingerbread man's condition.

The gingerbread man was famous because many custumers took photograph of him and uploaded to their social media. They thought that gingerbread man was a human who wore a costumer, but actually he has a rea cookie who had been made by the old woman.

I would change the part of the traditional story where the gingerbread man meets the wolf. I would change it so that he doesn't follow the wolf's advice to approach him and instead chooses to leave the wolf.

Positive, because the market place and social media are used to sell goods and promote merchandise.

Nama : Shella Dwi Aryanty

Kelas : X - Akuntansi 1

No absen : 32

1. This modern version differs from the traditional tale in several ways:

• Use of social media: The old woman posts the gingerbread man on her social media for likes and comments.

• Online marketplace: She sells gingerbread cookies online.

• Modern business concept: The gingerbread man becomes a mascot and delivery person for her products.

2. the old woman seems kind and caring when she creates the gingerbread man and calls him special. But later, she becomes demanding and exploitative, forcing him to work even when he feels unwell.

3. The story teaches that exploitation of others—even in business—can lead to negative consequences. The gingerbread man is overworked and not allowed to rest, which causes him to become weak and eventually eaten. It also highlights the dangers of fame and being treated

4. No, it was not good advice. Although the fairy mother thinks the old woman's house is "safe," it is actually the place where the gingerbread man is exploited and forced to work. Returning there would only put him back in the same harmful situation.

5. The story combines traditional fairy tale elements, such as talking cookies and fairy mothers, with modern issues like social media, online marketplaces, and worker exploitation. It comments on how people are often used for profit, how social media affects public perception, and how technology changes traditional roles.

6. The ending of this version is more

sorrowful, as the gingerbread man is

exploited and eaten by a chicken, rather

than just being chased. I prefer the

traditional tale for its simplicity and less devastating conclusion.

7. This is a clear example of an exploitative relationship, where the old woman benefits at the expense of the

gingerbread man, who is forced to work

while ill without receiving any

compensation.

8. This serves as a symbol for society's

failure to look beyond surface-level

appearances, thereby neglecting to

understand the suffering of certain

individuals, like the gingerbread man.

9. I would alter the ending to be more

uplifting- perhaps the gingerbread man escapes and finds a safe haven, conveying a more positive message about freedom and the right to live.

10. Technology is depicted negatively as it's used to promote and exploit the gingerbread man. The old woman

prioritizes online likes and sales over his

well-being. highlighting the darker side of technology
