According to the article, the civil rights movement offers us a blue print for creating meaningful change. After reading this, it made me think for a bit. The civil rights as a blue print for change. My very next thought was the black lives matter movement. In many ways they are similar . ordinary people standing up on the behalf of others, fighting for their rights.

The article draws to our attention, the notion of teaching our generation about the civil right movement, from the perspective of the captives. African American Students must be taught their history. To teach the movement accurately and effectively, teachers must first understand the social rights movement. They must have knowledge of how to use primary source material.

The history of my race, culture, and people is something I am not happy to talk about. When I think about it, it brings sadness, pain, and a sense of inferiority. I acknowledge that my ancestors were once slaves, I acknowledge that our counterparts to this day are benefiting from the wealth they acquired during slavery. I acknowledge that their is a wealth gap, between blacks and white, that will never be equalize as a result of slavery. I acknowledge that predominantly blacks schools are severely affected by this. The very college that I am attend has a extremely low graduation rate, and is predominantly black. how can this be fixed. How can we undue the past. My answer is its impossible. Its impossible to fix what has been done! What now? Educate the children! teach them about the past, show them how it connects to the future, so they can be aware and make informed choices

Unlike the blacks lives movement, Cobb's approach seems more realistic, promising change by educating the younger generation. When justice is demanded, the public being despotic, tends to shrug their shoulder at them. Instead, preferring the appeal to be made entirely on its generosity. This is the error of the black lives movement -Balewa
