Analytical exhibition is an oral or written text designed to convince the audience or readers to understand the situation. In order to enhance persuasiveness, the speaker or writer put forward some arguments as the root cause of certain situations.
This type of text can be found in scientific books, journals, magazines, newspaper articles, academic lectures or lectures, research reports, etc. The general structure of analysis and discussion usually consists of three parts: (1) thesis, (2) argument and (3) repetition or conclusion.

A.Generic Structure of Analytical Exposition
1. Thesis: introduce the topic and explain the position of the speaker or writer;
Presents an overview of the arguments.
2. Argument: Consists of opinions and explanations
Highlight the main points
Elaborate development and support each argument
3. Conclusion: reiterate (restatement), reiterate the speaker or writer’s position

B. Generic Features of Analytical Exposition
1. An analytical expo focuses on general human and non-human participants.
2. It uses mental processes. It is used to explain the author's or speaker's thoughts or feelings about something. For example: realization, feeling, etc.
3. It uses emotion and evaluation words
4. It usually requires material processes. It is used to describe what happened, for example...has been contaminated...etc
5. It usually uses simple present tense and present perfect tense.
6. Sometimes it is necessary to enumerate to display a list of given parameters: first, secondly..., finally wait.

Now look the sample of analytical exposition below!
"Corruption and Indonesian Culture"
Thesis:
Corruption has happened for many years and today it becomes a bad culture in Indonesia for three reasons.
Argument 1:
Most adult Indonesians or foreigners know and admit that corruption occurs in many places. Daily newspapers, television and radio news programs have reported that corruption is everywhere, in almost all departments or public services in the country. Corruption occurs in the health, education sector and banks. When we manage to obtain some documents at the public service office, we usually have to pay a lot of money. Operations are everywhere
Argument 2:
Action to eliminate corruption is weak. When the responsible institutions of justice must be strengthened today to commit corruption crimes, the growing culture does not seem to disappear. This is the worst. Corruption occurs when police departments, courts, judges, public prosecutors, and lawyers conduct corrupt transactions. At the end of 2004, we all heard the news. Probosutejo reported that he bribed the Supreme Court, or Mahkamah Agung, to become the highest judicial body. Maybe you must try to go to the local court to see what happened there. You will see bribery and other forms of corruption. Therefore, it can be said that corruption has become our culture. Do you like it?
Argument 3:
Citizens have no goodwill to fight corruption. They create a situation where people have the opportunity to corrupt. Citizens like to break the rules because they have no discipline. For example, when they drive or ride a motorcycle on the street, they don't have a driver's license or necessary documents. Then they were captured by the local police. In order to avoid more difficulties, they like to bribe officers. The officer let go of them. In other words, citizens and officials are the same person and corrupt together. If only the people are critical, disciplined and follow the rules, and are willing to report any wrongdoings, then this country will not become the world's number one corrupt country.
Reiteration/ conclusion:
Conclusion Based on these reasons, we can conclude that if all of us cannot eliminate corruption quickly, then corruption is becoming a bad culture in Indonesia. It seems that there should be stricter punishments for corrupt persons. Do we still care about the future of this country?

As we all know, cars create pollution, and cause a lot of road deaths and other accidents.
Arguments | Firstly, cars, as we all know, contribute to most of the pollution in the world.Cars emit a deadly gas that causes illnesses such as bronchitis, lung cancer, and ‘triggers’ off asthma. Some of these illnesses are so bad that people can die from them.Secondly, the city is very busy. Pedestrians wander everywhere and cars commonly hit pedestrians in the city, which causes them to die. Cars today are our roads biggest killers.Thirdly, cars are very noisy. If you live in the city, you may find it hard to sleep at night, or concentrate on your homework, and especially talk to someone.
Reiteration | In conclusion, cars should be banned from the city for the reasons listed.

Laptop as Students’ Friend

Conventionally, students need book, pen, eraser, drawing book, ruler and such other stuff. Additionally, in this multimedia era, students need more to reach their progressive development. Students need mobile keyboards to record every presented subject easily. Of course it will need more cost but it will deserve for its function.

First, modern schools tend to apply fast transferring knowledge because the school needs to catch the target of curriculum. Every subject will tend to be given in demonstrative method. Consequently students need extra media cover the subject. Since there is a laptop on every student’s desk, this method will help student to get better understanding.

Secondly, finding an appropriate laptop is not difficult as it was. Recently there is an online shop which provides comprehensive information. The best is that the shop has service of online shopping. The students just need to brows that online shop, decide which computer or laptop they need, and then complete the transaction. After that the laptop will be delivered to the students’ houses. That is really easy and save time and money.

From all of that, having mobile computer is absolutely useful for students who want to catch the best result for their study. Buying laptop online is advisable because it will cut the price. This online way is recommended since online shop also provides several laptop types. Students just need to decide which type they really need.

Analytical Exposition

definition : is a type of spoken or written text that is intended to persuade the listeners or readers that something is the case. To make the persuasion stronger, the speaker or writer gives some arguments as the fundamental reasons why something is the case.

purpose : to convince the readers that there is an important thing to consider.

Generic Structure

thesis : introduce the topic and shows speaker or writer's position. outlines of the arguments to be presented.

arguments : contain opinions that support the main idea. The more opinions that are written, the more interesting a Hortatory Exposition Text is because readers or listeners tend to believe in an event if there are many supportive opinions in it.

conclusion : Unlike the Analytical Exposition text which has Conclusion, this text has a recommendation section for the reader to conclude the text. Recommendations contain suggestions addressed to readers on related topics discussed in the text.

Language Features

Not only structure, each type of text also uses different language features. For analytical exposition text, here are the language features:

using the present tense : Of course you already know the types of tenses used to indicate the present, however, it's not just the simple present tense, huh. Modal such as "can" can also be used in text.

using the conjunction : The use of conjunctions is intended to relate arguments to one another. Commonly used conjunctions include firstly, secondly, further, besides, in addition, and so on.

using evaluative words :
Before knowing its use, have you understood the evaluative word? Evaluative word is a word that is used to represent the author's opinion, feeling, or judgment about something. The purpose of its use is to emphasize the importance of the topic being discussed in the text. Evaluative words that are usually used are, for example, important, valuable, significant, crucial, and so on.

using compound and complex sentences : Do you still remember the difference between compound sentence and complex sentence? A compound sentence is a sentence consisting of two main sentences (main clause) which are connected by the coordinate conjunction (but, or, and).
