A time that I wear a mask is definitely on Social Media. For awhile I was going through a hard time however, I would go out and take pictures or videos that I would post that made it seem like I was having the time of my life and that I was care free and happy. When in reality that was not the case. Those posts were planned out and edited with the purpose of making someone jealous. Similarly, everyone from time to time does the same thing. We all spend hours getting ready get in our best pose or plan out a video and spend hours weaving through to find the best ones then edit them. However, now the things I post I like to be spontaneous, I now live in the moment instead of worrying about what others are thinking of me or making sure others knew I was having a good time. I now post things that show my true happiness and I post for me not for others.

I do believe in Ghosts even though I have never really had an experice with one. However, my nanny Katie has had a few personal experices with one in her old house. She would talk about how she would randomly hear loud noises from another room in her house even though no one else lived there. How the lights would sometimes flicker or how things would randomly be out of place. So I have never seen a ghost myself I do believe that it is sometimes hard for someone to move completly on from their past life.

I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason. However, bad things really do happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. There’s come a time in everyone’s life when we feel like something has happened to us that we did not deserve. For example, my Dad leaving my mom twin brother and I when we were just three months old. It was unfair to my mother to be randomly left alone to raise two infants and it was unfair to my brother and I to be left at such a young age. We never did anything to make him abandon us but he did anyways. In conclusion, sometimes theres never an explanation for why things happen and sometimes we don’t get what we deserve but everything happens for a reason.

I think it is important to understand people’s experices or points of veiws because everyone thinks and takes thing differently. We were all raised differently and have different emotions so its important for us to put ourselves in other peoples shoes to get a bigger picture of our actions before we do them.
By developing empathy we are able to become better members in society because we have the ability to relate, connect or help others through their struggles. By having empathy it allows us to connect better to others and get a better understanding of those in our society; making us important members.
"Come of age” means to become an adult or to become fully established.

This excerpt occurs when Miss Leefolt has some of her friends over for a game of cards. Miss Hilly said that “black people carry different kinds of diseases” and says that they should have a seperate bathroom. Offended Miss Skeeter says that she should have one outside and is then threatened to be removed as editor for disagreeing with Miss Hilly. What they are really saying is that colored people are not worthy enough to use their bathrooms and Miss Skeeter is offended that Miss Hilly thinks she is that much better than them. Aibileen is probably feeling angry and ashamed. She is angry about the women talking about her as if they are so much better and she is ashamed because she isnt even free to use the bathroom as she pleases. Miss Skeeter is also feeling ashamed that her friend could think in such a horrible way. And finally Hilly is feeling annoyed that her friend has embarrassed her and gone against her opinions. This shows an abuse of power. Shows the power the whites hold over the African Americans and how they abuse that power by getting rid of their rights and dignity.

1. Miss Celia is speaking and it shows us how insecure she really is and how important peoples thoughts of her are. Also shows the care she has for her husband and her want/needing feeling to impress him.
2. Minny is speaking and it shows up how outspoken headstrong and sassy she is. It also shows us the little tolerance whites have for their “help”. It shows us that Minny is not afraid to speak her min and is sometimes punished for that.
3. Miss Celia and Minny are speaking and it shows us how genuine Celia really is. It also shows that she is extremly greatful for all she has and doesnt think shes better than anyone else, shes “color blind”. However, under all this we can infer that Celia isn’t as happy as she makes herself out to be, she cares very much of other peoples opinions and is very insecure.

Ch 12. I think this quote is important because it shows how much they are risking in order to tell their stories of being the “help”. Minny explains to not only the reader but also Skeeter about how serious they are taking this and how it is of extreme importance and risk.
Ch 13. This quote is important because it shows how Skeeter and the “help” dont want this book to be about colored rights but how it should be about the treatment of the “help” and what their lives are really like.
Ch 14. Aibileen is implying that women are more manipulative. Instead of beating them up they will hurt them either emotionally or socially. She’s saying that if the white women find out what they are doing they could possibly lose theirs lives because the white women could ruin their reputations and prevent them from getting a job and earning a living. Ultimately, prevent them from being able to live without “getting their hands dirty”.

Some things I realized while watching the movie was how much they all looked to Hilly for approval. In all scenes the girls would look to Hilly while speaking or before speaking for her approval. Even if some of the girls didn’t agree with her opinion they would out of fear of Hilly. In the movie it clearly shows the societal pressure to conform. It also shows Minny’s hard headed and sassy characteristics perfectly.

The fact that he was shot and killed infront of his children for standing up for equal rights is heartbreaking. Medgar Evers was a peaceful activist and made a huge difference in his community by fighting for what he believed in and influencing others to do the same. However, because of these actions he was shot and killed by a white man. Although there was hard evidence and eye witnesses the man responsible for his death was never convicted. He was tried twice with an all white jury and was seen as not guilty since at this time blacks were not really seen as people. However his family fought hard and carried on his legacy and finally justice was recieved and the man responsible was committed to life in prison.

I think that Stockett chose the Mimosa tree to represent Celia and what people think of her. The mimosa tree represents sensitivity and shyness all which Celia truly is deep down. The mimosa tree is also sometimes referred to as the “trash” tree which is how the women in the League look at Celia. The tree itself is actually beautiful just like Celia but it is thought of and referred to as trash. By Celia chopping down the Mimosa tree after the Leasgue’s Benefiit Ball it is a symbol of her cutting those women and their thoughts of her out of her life for good.

The whole time i thought the meaning of the book was about prejudice against African Americans. However, after this passage I realized the bigger picture. The book is truly about how women should support women instead of constantly trying to tear one another down. When Skeeter said “There is so much you don’t know about a person,” it made me realize that everyone has something going on in their lives, a struggle, and instead of tearing others down to make ourselves feel better we should instead build each other up to not only make ourselves feel better but someone else as well.

In todays society there a crazy diets and surgeries that people endure everyday in order to feel “attractive”. Women will starve themselves and depleat their bodies from the nesecarry calolories and proteins needed in order to get the ideal body they feel like they need. Women will also go through painful hair removals or unhealthy tanning approaches. I myself have done all these things in order to feel “attractive”. I’ve tried popular diets as well as waxes or tanning beds. Society has placed an idealistic way that people should look but the ways to achieve these are getting out of hand.
