Dyspraxia is a neurological disorder which means messages from the brain aren't interrupted by the body correctly, they do not have a known cause for dyspraxia. Scientist think that dyspraxia is from underdeveloped parts of the brain, this can happen to up to 10 percent in children. Researchers have found that it is more likely in the male gender. Motor, oral and verbal skills are effected. There is no cure but therapy does help a lot. They struggle in school with taking tests, homework and focusing in class.

People think that children with dyspraxia are just clumsy and always falling into things. This is because it effects the fine motor skills in their bodys. For example some fine motor skills are Holding a spoon, speaking and typing. It can also effect the gross motor skills.Dysprixia effects Perception in the body. The primary difficulty for children is speech, the may repeat themselves or talk continuously. This can always effect their memory and focus, they can tend to lose things or forget where they had left them.

Dr. Sheldon Horowitz talks about dyspraxia. Many children with learning disabilities have dyspraxia. It is a very complex disorder. Fine motor skills and gross skills are effected such as walking, handwriting and speech. Children have difficulty articulating the sounds of words. They can speak too slow or too fast. They also have difficulty completing task because of memory loss. Some signs of dyspraxia can dissipate as they get older, but does not go away.

Summary

I learned many facts and interesting factors about dyspraxia while I was researching this topic. Dyspraxia effects the gross and motor skills which I did not know. These skills include speech, handwriting, memory etc. What I found interesting was that 10% of children get dyspraxia from birth but researches have found that boys are more likely to have dyspraxia then girls. Another fact I also thought was very interesting was that doctors and researchers still till this day do not know what causes Dyspraxia. I think that kids with Dyspraxia can improve the skills they lack by getting social and mental help, also getting help with physical skills and action. Most kids already do this but for the kids who don't should do this to improve skills. Getting emotional help can also help the Childs self confidence and self esteem, this could be helpful for a child in school when he/she feels lower or different from other kids in school. Overall I really enjoyed this project because I am really passionate about this topic and also psychology.
