Writing has been the most difficult for me in grade school. It was clear the errors I made in writing, but was not clear how to write. I had to learn from my mistakes which caused me to struggle in writing. It was not until I reached college, I learned how to write. I attended the writing center at ODU weekly during my writing courses to understand and learn how to write. I think if I was taught how to write, it would have made test taken easier for me. I remember how long it would take me to write a paper compared to my classmates. Today, I still struggle to feel confident in writing, but I have came a long way and determined more now that ever to be a better writer.

Recently, I observed students struggling to transfer their ideas onto paper. As if they are unaware of the prewriting stage. Where they can use drawing ideas and/or make clusters & other graphic organizers to help. Also, I observed students not confident in their writing. One student kept saying "I can't" and several others kept writing and erasing, not getting past one or two sentences. I'm excited to become a teacher and contribute to change in making students feel confident in writing. For students to know the writing process and not be discouraged to write.
