This had a huge impact on Hazel because by her receiving the wish invitation, she became more scared knowing she was dying. Although Hazel was not able to get her very own wish, Gus wanted use his on Hazel for her to go to Amsterdam to visit her favorite author. This made Hazel and Gus both highly overjoyed.

Personally, I would highly recommend this book. This due to the incredible story line and visuals that the author has created in his writing. I would recommend this book to people my age and up since the story is some what mature. One reason why I do not like this book is because the author mentions books in this book. Most of the story so far is surrounded by this book that Hazel and Gus have traded and that makes this book a little less enjoyable to read in my opinion.

But overall, there is currently no physical conflict in my book at the moment. Hazel consistently throughout the day has voice in her head; making her think that Peter Van Houten may actually not be who she thinks he is.

The narrator throughout the story is told by Hazel Grace Lancaster in first person point of view. The narrator does seem to be believable due to how accurate the events and actions of people in my story can happen or occur. Going on from my story, I can tell my my writing that I definitely have more windows than mirrors. I suppose that I have more windows than mirrors considering that my life is certainly not as challenging or complicated as Hazels. Hazel has many health problems, does school usually online, little to no friends, likes to read, talks in a more serious and poetic manner, and dresses unlike me. These are just a few reasons why I can tell that me and Hazel are not very similar as people. As a reader, I can tell that if Hazel was real, I probably wouldn't be friends with her which I can tell just by how much her personality shines through.

A topic that I found to be apparent in my story that has changed the plot and the characters would have to be poetry. Poetry throughout the entire story affected the characters personalities into something more peculiar. What I noticed is that since Hazel reads so much, she is much more proper and precise with her word choice when she speaks. The book genre that she tends to red most often is poetry. Going off of Hazels word choices and comebacks she says with such big words, I can tell that poetry is the reason for that. Gus in this story, just like Hazel, talks back in a more efficient way than most people would. This proves my point considering that the two love to read.

My prediction to what will occur next in my book is that Royce will continue to open up to the people at the facility about his personal life and his current issues. To Janie, Royce is somewhat of a nosy person who doesn't care to mind his own business or keep thoughts to himself. Once Janie shared her story about Missy and her purging in the bathroom before school, Royce brought up the courage to tell the group about how his mother frequently gets criticized by his father about her weight and eating habits. I believe that later in the story, he will begin to open up about other things other than just his mommy and daddy issues such as his eating disorder that he is quite confused about.

One scene that I believed to describe Janie's experience with her eating disorder was when she began to have sudden flashbacks to when she was younger and had the urge to purge after eating so she wouldn't feel so guilty or so full after wards. Its almost like there was never really a period of time when the food she consumed was the "enemy." In the text, she exclaims, "When I was a little girl, was I like Harry, constantly running to Mom to beg for cookies? Was there a time when I could go to birthday parties and eat a slice of cake without feeling shameful, like I was doing something bad? Was I able to eat a bar of chocolate without hearing that critical voice in my head?"
( pg. 30 ) Going off of this piece of text, I as the reader can infer that this was not an issue that all of a sudden Janie started to develop, it has been opening for quite a long time as far as she remembers.

I would recommend this book towards a younger audience considering the valuable lesson and message that the book may be able to teach. Janie begins to feel guilty and insecure from consuming so much food that she sticks her fingers down her throat, and not only purges, but purges all over Kelsey, ( Janie's best friend, ) and her white dress. Although Kelsey and her husband were devastated about the huge scene that Janie had just made, Kelsey and Danny feel very bad about Janie for having an illness and not telling anyone for such a long period of time. Janie gets very choked up and struggles to tell Kelsey the honest truth about her disorder but manages to get through with it. Janie feels relief that Kelsey was mad but also supportive of Janie getting the help thats he needs to. In the text, it exclaims, "Damn straight I don't understand! What would possess you to do something so incredibly stupid? I mean, Jesus, Janie. It's dangerous. You could ruin your teeth and esophagus. You could die."
( pg. 95 )

In this specific portion of my book, Janie enters Golden Globes, ( her eating disorder facility, ) as she does everyday. Little did she know, she was about to receive some very mournful news. A girl name named Helen who was a starver refused to eat any type of food for a long period of time. This sadly led to her passing away due to heart failure. Janie is in shock and doesn't know what to say. She all of a sudden gets the urge to purge and makes up an excuse as she run to the bathroom to purge in a sock. One of the counselors catches her. The counselor and Janie both share a conversation about Helen that was much more deep than both of them expected. Janie realizes the sad truth that not eating or digesting food can lead to miscellaneous health issues including fatal causes such as death. This news hit Janie like a thousand knives and she questions whether or not she should quit the habit of purging after consuming food. "But I don't think that Helen wanted to die. Patients like Helen seem to have this almost...magical idea that they can do with their bodies as they please. it's almost like they reject the possibility that they'll die because they're so focused on staying in focused on how few calories they can put in their body each day." "But she must have known that if she didn't eat, she might die. How could she not?"
( pg. 132 )

The eating disorders that are mainly mentioned in my book are Anorexia and Bulimia. I know this for the reason that the people at the Golden Slopes are separated between either starvers or barfers. In my experience reading this book, I have learned that eating disorders are way more severe than I imagined. Any type of eating disorder affects a person physically, mentally, and emotionally. From Janie's perspective, her character, attitude, and the way that she treats her love ones changed tremendously once her eating disorder got worse over time. She began to be rude and come off as aggressive to her close family members and friends.

This certain scene has a huge toll on Janie due to her becoming angry and aggressive towards her facility for not teaching her "anything." Janie had to spend 5 days straight in the facillity until she fesed up to breaking her oath to follow the rules. Janie ended up fessing up, but being sarcastic; resulting in her having to spend extra time in the Golden Slopes before returning home. Her parents cried the entire time; disappointed in her daughter for disobeying and not doing what she was told to do to help her on the path to a healthy life. She awaits to talk to her best friend Kelsey one more time on the phone before it gets taken away for a week. The plot was affected from this scene for the reason that we saw a side of Janie that is way more aggressive rather than calm. In the text, Janie says, "I'll just call Kelsey - she'll be thrilled to be able to speak to you." "I wish I could be so sure. As I'm waiting to see if Kelsey will come to the phone, I'm trying to get over the amazement that my mother actually told Mrs. Critelli the truth instead of some polite fiction for the sake of appearances. It's not like Mom to admit that All Is Not Perfect in the House of Ryman. Not like Mom at all." ( pg. 99 )

The tone of my book is definitely more on the suspenseful and angry side, but I think that the author has done a fantastic job with keeping the book interesting to read and easy to get drawn into for long periods of time. In my personal opinion, I think that the authors writing styles and message taken from the book, makes the book seem quite believable. In fact, I would not be very surprised if the story was true or based on real life events since the topic of eating disorders in this book are extremely accurate and realistic as far as I know.

Janie heads the gym to work out and lose some weight after her frustration from everyone around her such as Royce, her parents, and Callie. She is greeted by a random male counselor who hands her a pair of boxing gloves without saying anything. Janie questioning why he was giving her the gloves takes them anyway as the counselor tells her to get some of her frustration out. Janie hestitanly starts to swing a few punches as she realizes that it feels good to hit things. Later on, she starts to head to the gym and punching bag day and night. She questions whether or not she would have started purging if it wasn't for the gym. An example from the text is, "I got Joe to take me back to the gym yesterday, and I had another session on the punching bag. Its like now that I realized that I'm mad, I just want to punch that thing morning, noon, and night. I pretend it's Dr. Pardy. I even pretend its my mom and dad. I wonder if Id have started sticking my finger down my throat if I'd known how good it felt to punch things. ( pg. 151 )

Something that I have found to be different between Janie and I is that I do not get as angry as she does over eating food that's he does not like including vegetables. If I were in Janie's situation where I would have to eat something that I do not enjoy ( such as a cucumber, ) I would personally just suck it up and eat it rather than throwing a temper tantrum over some vegetable.

I am alike to Janie for the reason that sometimes I complain about the little things. What is different on the other hand is that she states her complaints verbally while I on the other hand say them either in my head or I think before I speak. I believe that if Janie ever complained less or don't complain in the first place, she would achieve her goal of quitting her eating disorder or getting help with her health problems way earlier on before they began to be somewhat addictive.
