It is important because elders says it is good to keep the tradition going, keeping the tradition alive is good for children because they need to how our elders survived. Having resources is good for children mind like for example having traditional puzzles, they are good for children who are learning all about Inuit culture.

It’s important for children to know their culture. And even if they are non-Inuit, it is important for them to know Inuit culture. Our traditional language and culture have to keep going for generations and generations in order to keep it alive. Resources created in Nunavut are changing over the years but it is still important to have them because this is Nunavut, this is Inuit land, Our land. We are us because of our ancestors, and we are to keep our ancestors traditions alive.

It is impotent for the children to know about Inuit culture and the elders would like for the children to know the Inuit culture as its impotent to keep it. So that when the children grew up they can keep the Inuit culture. For example having children (girls) have to sew the Inuit traditional clothes and children (boys) have to hunt so that the family can eat country food.

It is important and beneficial for the children to learn our Inuit culture because in the long run, we still remember and can recognize what we were taught while growing up. At a young age some are taught to use the uluk and knife so we can know how to use it when we grow older. Sewing near an elder or a parent helps us to learn how we have to hold our sewing and how we have to stitch it. Guys who teaches their sons how to hunt brings them when they are going hunting by boat or skidoo, so they can learn by watching their father or older relatives hunting. Story telling are taught to us too so we can tell the next generation what were told to us and the lessons they gave us.
