On one side there is a shadow and it is much darker. This symbolizes how that the person receiving the tzedaka might be in a sad or dark place. They may be struggling. On the other side of tzedaka box, it is lighter and brighter. This represents the joy or hope of the person receiving the tzedaka. The tzedaka box is in the middle and foreground of the frame this represents the change in moods and lighting from sadness to happiness. It also shows the contrast of the two sides.
