Apollo is the god of sunlight, as well as mental light. He was given the job of driving a sun chariot across the sky every dawn to bring the sun up by Helius. As for mental light, Apollo was recognized as a figure of knowledge, logic, and truth. Additionally, he also represented the light in humans, a.k.a the good side of man's conscience, as his dark and devious side was not really prominent.
