1- The most effective part was the multisensory approach. Students learned by using sight and sound. For example, they could practice writing letters using digital tools while vocalizing the sounds loudly. This helped them remember spelling patterns better and made lessons more engaging.

2- I used the English Club books as part of our weekly reading time. I planned lessons around the themes and vocabulary in the books. For example, if the book was about animals, we practiced animal-related vocabulary with flashcards before reading, and later students drew their favorite animal and wrote a short sentence.

3- The materials mostly supported phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. The Hickey program focused on phonics and decoding, while the English Club books helped build vocabulary and story understanding through simple texts and pictures.

4- Over time, I noticed that students became more confident with reading aloud and spelling. One student who could not read basic words (like “cat” or “run”) at the beginning could later read full sentences.

5- 1- Visual design of the materials by adding more colorful pictures and interactive games. Some parts felt too plain.

2- Having digital versions or audio for EFL students would help with listening practice.

6- My students enjoyed the online resources because they were interactive and easy to follow. The Hickey digital activities helped them hear the sounds while seeing the letters, which was great for both pronunciation and spelling. The English Club website also had engaging stories, simple animations, and audio support. One student liked clicking on the words to hear them read aloud.

7- Yes, I would recommend it. The Hickey program is helpful for EFL learners who struggle with reading, especially because it uses step-by-step phonics and repetition. It supports different learning styles. However, I would suggest combining it with fun reading materials like the English Club books to keep students motivated.

One of the most effective parts of the Hickey Multisensory Language Program for my student was tracing letters while saying the sounds. This helped him remember how to spell and pronounce words better, using visuals, sounds, and movement together made learning more fun and easier for him to understand.

I used the English Club books by focusing on key vocabulary from the story. For example, if the book was about weather, I would teach words like rain, sunny, cloud. Then, I had my student create a weather report using those words, and they would draw the weather scene they were describing. This helped practice both vocabulary and sentence structure.

The materials most supported the phonic awareness and vocabulary pillars of reading. Through activities like saying, tracing, and writing letters. Additionally, using the English Club books helped expand students' vocabulary by introducing new words in context and reinforcing them through visuals and sentence creation.

Over time, I observed that my student made progress in recognizing and reading new words more easily. He became more confident in sounding out words and is able to use the vocabulary in sentences, and his spelling also got better.

I would add more visual aids like pictures to help students connect words with meanings. I would also simplify the language in the instructions and include more examples, making the materials easier for younger or beginner learners to understand.

The student responded positively to the materials. The activities were engaging and fun, especially with the drawings and interactive tasks. Academically, the student showed improvement in reading, writing, and vocabulary. The lessons kept them interested and motivated to learn more.

Yes, I would recommend this program. The multisensory approach helps students understand and remember new words better, and the activities keep them engaged. The program also provides clear structure and support, making it easier for teachers to adapt lessons to individual needs. It’s especially useful for students who need extra help with reading and writing.

1.) The aspects that were most effective for my students were the different stories, games, and activities. I chose stories that were interesting for them. Games helped them to stay focused and engaged. The activities I chose involved them matching and writing. I was able to assess them throughout all of the stories, games, and activities. By being able to assess them, it was easier to adapt the next lesson accordingly if I needed to.

2.) I integrated English Club books into each lesson. The lessons I planned revolved around a central theme that was present in the story. Before reading each story, I went over vocabulary that was present in the book. For post-readings, I planned activities that revolved around what was in the book.

3.) The pillars of reading that were most supported by the materials were Phonics, Vocabulary, and Comprehension. I referred to The Hickey Method for the phonics aspect. I referred to English Club books for vocabulary and comprehension. The Hickey Method helped to focus on phonics and made it easier for the students to learn and read. The English Club books helped to build vocabulary and comprehension. The texts I chose were appropriate for the level of the students. They were able to understand and grasp the vocabulary and meaning of each story.

4.) I observed that the confidence levels increased with each student. In the beginning, they were very shy and hesitant to read aloud. They were scared to make mistakes. As time went by, they were volunteering to read aloud. They were not scared to try to read or to spell any words. They were engaged throughout each lesson.

5.) I would improve the design by having the story illustrations in color. They are in black and white, so the images do not really stand out.

6.) The students responded well emotionally and academically to the materials. They were engaged throughout most of the lessons. The games worked really well, as they were fun for the students. The activites helped them academically by allowing them to practice with material tailored to phonetics. The books were also amazing resources. They were able to read each story and answer questions. The stories helped the students emotionally because I chose stories that were interesting for them. The games also helped them emotionally and academically. Emotionally, the games were fun and interesting for them. Academically, the games helped them practice what I taught.

7.) Yes, I would recommend this program. It has different materials for different levels of students. It is a great tool with many different activities and games.

The most effective aspect of the program for my student is reading stories after learning certain letters/letter combinations. In addition, playing the games and completing the tasks related to the story read are very effective for my student, as she is able to further develop her listening, speaking, reading, and writing of the learned letters/letter combinations and expand her vocabulary.

I integrated English Club books into my lesson planning, as after each practice of certain letters and letter combinations, my student was asked to read a story that contains the letters/letter combinations learned. In addition, the student completed the tasks and games related to the story in order to ensure she correctly reads the words and understands them.

The materials used during the lessons mainly supported the pillars of phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension. Furthermore, the story and all its related materials were additionally used to strengthen what the student learned by the Rule Cards.

My student has made excellent progress so far. She has gained the confidence needed to help her overcome any challenges she faces in English tasks. Furthermore, she has learned how to correctly form, read, and write letters and letter combinations she struggled with before this program.

I would like to suggest improving the accessibility of the Hickey Method resources on the website. In my opinion, having the resources organized according to different levels can make it easier when planning which materials are best for the student according to their level.

My student responded positively to all the materials, including stories and games. She found most of the stories and games interesting, as she is motivated and interested in learning and improving her English skills.

I would recommend this program to others who are teaching struggling EFL readers. Multisensory learning is very effective, especially to struggling students. The diverse materials that can be used within this program can meet the needs of many struggling EFL students, as well as provide successful experiences that will motivate them during the learning process.

1. One of the most effective aspects of the lessons was teaching the letters along with their corresponding sounds. My student found this very helpful, as she could hear how each letter sounds and see images that represent the letter. Additionally, the stories and texts in the Hickey Multisensory Language Program were both engaging and valuable.

2. I used the English Club books in nearly every lesson. I incorporated the presentations and letter activities into my lesson planning. The resources were very beneficial, as they offered a variety of tools that supported my teaching.

3. The main pillars of reading that were supported during the sessions were phonemic awareness and vocabulary development, especially for introducing new words.

4. At the beginning, my student was quite shy and didn’t actively participate. I introduced different activities to help her feel more comfortable. Gradually, she began to trust herself and gained the confidence to read and learn new material. She started by repeating the letters and trying to pronounce them. I could see that she was making an effort to push herself. I also began assigning homework so she could practice at home. Over time, she started writing letters, remembering vocabulary, and reading simple words.

5. I suggest that the Hickey Program include different levels for each letter. This way, once a student completes the basic material, they can move on to more advanced content related to the same letter.

6. Although the student was shy at first, she gradually became more confident throughout the lessons. She once told me that she enjoys coming to the workshop and would like to use more English because she feels her English is improving.

7. Yes, I would definitely recommend the program to others who are struggling with EFL reading. The Hickey Program provides a wide range of helpful materials and is especially beneficial for students who need extra support in developing their English reading skills.
