The theme of Is justice always just relates to today. We still have problems with police officers or judges taking wrongful action againist citizen. People today are still getting wrongfully arrest or charged with crimes. I think we should always keep it this because it serves as a reminder of fairness and equality in our live. Justice shouldn't be based off opinion and action. Only facts

"Easter was when they nailed him to the cross. And he never said mumbling word"- Gaines.pg 139. One of the first dialogue's Jefferson has that does not relate to him being a hog. Grant recognizes Jefferson is making progress, he kind of starts pushing religion on him to prepare him for the final day. The passage lowkey sets the novel's character of Jefferson as a figure of Jesus.

1. At the start of the book Jefferson is wrongly convided for the murder of Mr.Grope because of his skin color. At the start of the trial Grant says "A white man had been killed during a robbery, and though two of the robbers had been killed on the spot, one had been captured, and he, too, would have to die."

2. Walter McMillian, known as Johnny D, was sentenced to death for the murder of a white teenage girl in Monroeville, Alabama. Even Though there was no evidence placing him at the crime and a proof that people on the trial lied. “But before I could say anything, Myers blurted out, ‘I lied. Everything I said at McMillian’s trial was a lie. I’ve lost a lot of sleep and have been in a lot of pain over this. I can’t be quiet any longer."

Both these case's support my theme because they both deal with the Injustice in the goverment system. Jefferson was too pushisment was too harsh and when he should have just been punished for the stealing the money. But the Judge and the people in the court had a bias. Johnny D was completely wrongly convided for a murder and put on death row. Even thought there was a lot of evidence proving his idence.
