"I'm so old, that ball point pens were just starting to become a big thing when I was in primary school. A pen! Can you imagine writing without pens? It was cool not having to use an ink bottle and a feather" Mind you, my Nana isn't the oldest person in the world, like she thinks she is, but she did go to school in the late 40's, and the invention of ballpoint pens didn't happen until 1940. Now in the 2000's, we have smart pencils that connect through Bluetooth and we can do things directly on our tablets! I told my Nana this, and she looked at me like I was speaking a third language!

My mom was born in the 1970's, which is after the invention of white boards, but due to her growing up in a small town, they used chalk boards for a long time. She said there wasn't a huge shift until middle school.

I cannot imagine life without a calculator. Thankfully, they came around when my mother was in school. She said they tried not to use them because "you won't always have a calculator laying around" but when they could, it was a great change.

With my friends and I being born in the 90's, we were able to see smart boards pop up in classrooms. We remember them being put in my 8th grade math class as a "tester" and seeing if we'd like them. We laughed about how we would take turns in class asking the teacher if we can "calibrate their smart marker."

My doctor told me I have an unhealthy obsession with iPads. So he gave me some tablets.

Within the last five years, my little cousin who was born in the late '00s, was saying their school is starting to give iPads to every student. There's becoming more and more research about how iPads benefit Gen Ed students, ELL, and Special Needs students. Not to mention, us students in MCC for this class were given iPads. Is this going to be the new way of learning?
