The purpose of our trip was to interact with the inhabitants of the centre and to offer them moral support.

      When we arrived at the centre, we were greeted by the administrator, Mr. Ali. He explained how he and his team went to areas in the city were well-known haunts for drug addicts. He admits that it wasn't easy to convince them to leave their life and to check into the centre for treatment.

        Mr. Ali told that most of the inhabitants had turned to drugs at a young age because they couldn’t face the hardships in life such as broken families and financial hardship. They find temporary comfort in drugs because it helps them to forget their fears. Before they know it, they have become addicts.

        At the centre, the inhabitants focus on staying clean and living a drug-free life. Here, they learn how to enjoy life without drugs. They are constantly encouraged to be enterprising and resourceful instead of getting involved in crime.

         After the briefing, we were taken on a tour of the centre. We had the opportunity to interact with the inhabitants and listening to their stories. Most of them had lost contact with their family members. Nevertheless, they felt that they had at last found a meaning in their lives at the centre.

          We were moved to hear their tales, and felt sorry for the hardships they had to go through. We realised that all of them were thrilled to receive visitors to listen to their stories.
