But it is very different moving with family than moving alone to  an university in a big city like New York City.
We brainstormed in class about some difficulties or cultural shocks that a immigrant can face in New York city, we came up with the following:
- Housing Options
- Time management ( transport,traffic ..)
-Budgeting
- Socializing
- Food 
- Cultural Differences
and more..

It might be a struggle for some to find the food they normally eat and drink back home. Some try to recreate their recipes here, but I doubt it will taste the same.
If you dont have a meal plan, visiting different grocery stores or farmers market can help on getting use to new flavors. But if you do have a meal plan, try chosing different meals every day. Personally, I would choose not to have a meal plan because I like to cook and to experience with flavors. An average apartment cost 1000$ per month, without counting transportation to the university.
I couldn't find much information for on campus housing, but I read that it cost an average of $18,000 a year.

1. It can be hard to start socializing because, aside from knowing English there are lots of cultural idioms people in America use very often. This can lead to immigrants feeling out place.
2. It can be hard for immigrants to feel like they fit in because they might feel like they don’t have common interests with New Yorkers.
3. Moving to another country can make you feel lonely so the immigrants might be too overwhelmed to interact with others.

 1 The use of coins is very different. In the US, coins are used on a daily basis, however in Argentina coins are disappearing and their worth is decreasing. 
2  The demand for Uber in NYC is much higher than in Argentina.
3 Different academic calendar: the American academic year it usually starts around September and ends in May. On the other hand, the Argentinian school years goes from March to November.

  • Los neoyorquinos son personas que a menudo les gusta mantenerse a sí mismos cuando caminan por la calle porque NYC es una ciudad muy rápido ritmo para que la gente no quiere detenerse y hablar con otros si tienen un lugar para estar. muchas personas interpretan la falta de contacto visual y la amabilidad como grosero, pero esto es simplemente la cultura en NYC. Si fueras a hablar con las mismas personas dentro de que parecen grosero en la calle, lo más probable es que ellos sean extremadamente amables.
  • Los neoyorquinos son personas que sean a menudo muy francos y sarcásticos. Les gusta burlarse mutuamente de una manera amistosa que puede ofender a las personas que no entienden la cultura.  Te pedimos que no te ofendas porque a menudo, si un neoyorquino te burla, lo significa que le gusta tú.

           Primero, le recomendamos que viva lo más cerca posible de su lugar de trabajo para que no gaste mucho tiempo y dinero viajando. Pero, si el área es muy costoso para vivir en, podría ser mejor para vivir más lejos de tu trabajo y tome el metro para trabajar, ya que el metro es una manera muy barata y eficiente para viajar porque es solo $2,75 cada manera. 
            Por ejemplo, en Midtown Manhattan se puede obtener un muy grande, apartamento de lujo para muy barato, pero el área no es muy animada, que muchas personas más jóvenes no les gusta. Sin embargo, áreas como el West Village y East Village son mucho más costoso y los apartamentos son muy pequeños, pero el área es extremadamente vibrante, animado y excelente para las personas más jóvenes que les gusta salir.

Si usted está en un presupuesto, le recomendamos que sólo salir a comer en ocasiones especiales, ya que es difícil encontrar restaurantes con comidas menos de $15. 
           La planificación de su lista de compras para la semana y sólo la compra de artículos que usted sabe que va a comer es una manera de ahorrar mucho dinero. Si no tiene tiempo para cocinar, también puede encontrar comida barata para llevar. Por ejemplo, hay muchos lugares que ofrecen $1 rebanadas de pizza y $2 bagels. También puede obtener comida halal, como falafel y pollo sobre arroz, por menos de $10.

             Para gastar menos dinero, te sugerimos que busque ofertas para actividades en aplicaciones como Groupon para comprar boletos a precios más baratos. Además, siempre hay muchos eventos gratuitos sucediendo en NYC, por lo que debes aprovechar todas que puedas. 
             Además, es posible divertirse y no gastar dinero en absoluto. Cuando el clima es agradable, caminar por las calles o a través de lugares como Central Park es increíble. La gente que mira es una actividad muy divertida porque todos en NYC son muy únicos e interesantes.
