That also means that the give Bitterblue the documents to sign without giving her the whole picture of what her kingdom is like.

While sneaking around and about, Bitterblue made some friends: Saf, Saf’s sister, Teddy, and Teddy’s sister. She became incredibly close to them, gaining their trust. Yet, she never told them she was the queen r the hat ruled over them. Instead, she told them lies. Lies about how she worked in the kitchen making bread. Eventually, her secret would have to come out. So, one day as Bitterblue was visiting the court room, she found that Saf was accused of murder. When everyone stood up to greet the queen, Saf finally uncovered that Sparks, his supposedly friend that worked in the castle kitchens was actually the queen.

Bitterblue knew that something was wrong in the castle. After what happened in the court, Bitterblue also lost her new friends’ trusts. Bitterblue tried sneaking back out to apologize, but upon her return, she found something surprising. Even after everything went downhill and it felt like nothing else could go wrong, it did. One of Bitterblue’s advisers had gone crazy. One of her other advisers had told her that Runnemood, the adviser that went crazy, had done unthinkably things to her prisons. She later also finds out that Runnemood has been framing people in her city. That was how Saf was found in court.

After having a hard time trying to piece everything together, Bitterblue found one of her advisers, Thiel, on one of her city’s bridges. What Thiel did left Bitterblue completely shocked that she couldn’t move. Thiel decided to jump off the bridge into the water to end his life. After serving Bitterblue since she was a child, the two have been incredibly close. Loosing Thiel was something Bitterblue could never imagine. After being up there for so long that snow started to build on her shoulders, Saf showed up concerned. He did not know why Bitterblue was on her hands and knees, but it didn’t look right to him. He also knew that being on a bridge was not helping because of her fear of heights.
