Bromeliads are characterized by growing around the stems of other plants, placing their leaves in a strategic arrangement to obtain sunlight and at the same time creating holes where water from rainfall accumulates, thus giving rise to habitat. of small species of humid environments such as amphibians, salamanders, snails, etc. They are of very striking colors, such as purple, red, blue and orange, being used, on many occasions as ornamental plants. Some examples are:

Aechmea orlandiana
Bromeliad Nidularium
BY: Geraldin Villegas

All Bromeliads have tiny scales on their tiny leaves, which are called trichomes. These scales form an absorption system and also serve as a heat shield in the desert: they prevent plants from unnecessarily losing a lot of moisture in the hot sun.
Bromeliads bloom between April and June. Depending on the type of bromeliad it is, its flowering will be spiky or more open and we have very curious news, it only blooms once, if you have heard correctly, only once. But we have the solution to such a tragedy ... When the flower of the bromeliads begin to wither, if we look closely you can see small plants that grow attached to the original plant at the base of the plant, these are called suckers.
By: Juan Pablo Restrepo

The Amazon is one of the places with the greatest biodiversity on the planet, in such a way that knowing exactly the number of species that inhabit this territory is one of the problems currently facing researchers.
First of all, it should be noted that the Amazon is one of the areas with the greatest diversity and biological richness in the world. This is due to the existence of several factors and characteristics that coincide in this territory, such as latitude, altitude, climate, temperature and rainfall.
BY: Karol melisa Torres

Bromeliad obtains most of its nutrients, which are not too many, since it is not a large plant, from water and not from its roots. That is why it has developed that incredible cup shape that allows it to store water in its center, while feeding itself. The water accumulated in its glass, together with the organic matter that is deposited inside it, allows the development of bacteria, batrachians and other animals that collaborate in providing nutrients to the plant.
