Introduction

According to Ratliff, "One note is hard to listen to," which is very well true. He argues that, "one's response to a repeated tone is to replicate the tone for yourself... or [put it] against other notes an chords." I agree with Ratliff's argument because while listening to a song, the measures that include one note examples are the ones that stick out to me the most, and cause me to further evaluate the lines being said our the message the artist is trying to give through their instruments.

This is an example given in Ratliff's playlist. The line " You know I stay reminiscin' and makeup sex is tradition but you been missing girl and you..." is in one breath, all around B. For me, as the listener, it shines light on the words he says. They give a message to was considered to be right or tradition in today's society.

This is one of my favorite gospel songs, and in this includes a lot of stubbornness, as do most gospel songs. The line in the chorus, "I said the Lord.." is the phrase is in this song that is constantly repeated & kept on the same note.
