Edvard Munch, born on 12 December 1863 in Norway, was an important painter.

He is considered one of the pioneers of modernism and expressionism.

His works often deal with intense emotional themes, psychological tensions and existential anxieties.

The losses and illnesses he experienced during his childhood and youth are deeply reflected in his art.

His most famous work, the painting titled ‘The Scream,’ has become a universal symbol of anxiety and fear.

In this painting, he depicts the inner torment of a figure responding to the scream of nature.

Munch followed a path from figurative art to abstraction, focusing on emotional expression.

He spent the last years of his life in Norway and passed away on 23 January 1944.
